Customers regard the FE 24-240mm lens highly for its image quality and versatility, making it suitable for various photography needs with a broad focal length and satisfactory low-light performance. However, some customers find the lens to be heavy and mention concerns about its aperture, price, and occasional focusing issues at full zoom.

Great and versatile Telephoto lens

This is a great entry-ish level telephoto lens. It’s very versatile because it’s able to go from 24mm all the way to 240mm. The aperture will change when you zoom, so it does require you to pay attention to you camera settings. Overall, a great telephoto lens for a full size sensor camera

This lens is a full frame lens and it works as well as my A77 18 - 250 lens that I used with my A77 camera. I had to purchase the new lens because Sony decided to make this camera (A7) full frame.
This lens basically takes all the pictures I need. Very flexible and wonderful pics. I wish they had offered it rather than the 28 - 70 lens that came with the camera.

With Sonys 24-70 2.8 being over $2k which is insane to me, this is an amazing lens. f4 is the new 2.8 and this lens will prove just that. Light, versatile, and very fast this lens is a good deal at its price. 2.8 is nice but in reality most the time you will find yourself stopping down your aperture especially if you are shooting landscape. If you are heavy into portraiture then I would recommend a prime lens where you can be a little more committed to blurring out your background. Unless you are stuck on 2.8 all the time go with this lens. Its sharp and very compact compared to your standard 2.8.

Quite the all-around lens. I prefer the G Master lenses but when I want to be a tourist with one lens the choices are limited. For wide angles I have always loved the 24mm over the 28mm. It's a world of difference. I have had a 35-350mm but desperately needed a wider lens. 24-200 would be great and the extra 40mm is nice. The lens is a bit slow but still very good. It is meant for bright outdoors -- typical tourist days. It's not up to G Master but that's not its purpose. Great all around lens that makes sure to cover the wide spectrum nicely.

This lens is a little heavy but the weight definitely isn't a deal breaker. It was nice to not have to switch lenses a lot on a safari. I gave it 4 stars because at max focal length the photos are a little grainy, but only really when you crop a decent amount. Overall it's a great lens, especially in lieu of spending thousands on a telephoto lens.

One Lens for All

With a wide range of view, from 24mm to 240mm, this lens does the job of what typically might require up to 3 lenses, wide angle, portrait and zoom scenarios. Picture clarity and speed of autofocus both work well with my Sony A7RIII. Love it!

Great len, this telephoto len is almost all in one to go, offer great quality pictures. Very minimal blur and good bokeh. Not the top of the line len but offer a pro quality. For beginner or hobby, this is a to go lens. Good build quality and reasonable price.

This lens is amazing!! I love the fact that it allows me to blur the background and keep the focal point in focus. I bought and tried a different lens at first which was a telephoto zoom lens but I tried this one out and it was amazing compared to the other one. Would recommend this to anyone even with the price point being a little high.

I am enjoying this lens a lot. It performs very well at all focal lengths. Focusing ring for manual focus is not very intuitively placed. Very rarely I miss lower f stop capability (f2.8) of a more expensive lenses as most of the time you can compensate with increasing the ISO.

...a little heavy. I happen to like that in a lens, keeps camera steady better. Sharp, fast AF and a great range. I'll take 24mm on the wide end over 28mm any day and trade a little on the long end for it! A good travel lens. Could be faster, but then it would cost more. A good balance.

Did not know so much about cameras or even that a lens comes separately so the team members there were extremely helpful and now I use my camera as much as I can and this lens is amazing. Can't wait to but a smaller one for other pictures.

Great for long distance shots but there are others with better zoom. We got this camera with the intent of only using the zoom lenz in certain situations. On our first journey we needed it to shoot a big horn sheep that was 75 yards away.

The only issue I have with this lens is that when zoomed in fully there's a good amount of vignetting, but I think for the price, you're getting a pretty nice piece of glass. This lens allows me to carry fewer alternate lenses in my pack, and helps keep my image sensor clean by limiting the number of times I need to swap lenses.

Great over all lens to cover multiple zoom ranges. It avoids to be changing lenses, perfect for traveling.
Cons. Heavy, quality of picture is mmeehh I think the price of such lens should be half because of these.
Dos have some issues on the corners but can be fixed on Lightroom

Not great for sports as it does not hold focus when zooming, and the AF is sometimes slow. A bit overpriced but would be good for something other that sports videography.
