Love it! It is lighter than the first version. I love the super fast auto focus and the bokeh. It also works pretty well in low light. It’s replaced every lens that I had so I only have to carry around one lens which is really convenient.

The quality of glass makes the most difference and this lense has proven to be a massive upgrade. It feels empowering when you use it and I liked be able to pick it up myself and avoid the risk of damage from shipping and theft from delivery.

Great versatile lense with very stabilized performance even at 200mm

This is one of if not the sharpest lenses from Sony currently available( 2nd only to the 135gm) with tons of versatility baked in being a zoom lens. This will be your work horse for Sports, Landscape, Weddings & Wildlife.

Absolutely amazing. Having owned and shot Nikon, Canon, Fuji, and Leica this lens is what I consider to be perfection(aside from the price lol) This lens is prime lens image quality in a telephoto package. You could use this lens to shoot a wedding, family outing or pets. The fact it can be used with a teleconverter is a bonus as well. This lens has incredibly fast autofocus motors and image stability. Weather sealing and the fact it has an internal zoom is gives you a peace of mind that no matter where you take it this lens is absolutely protected. The focus ring and zoom ring is butter smooth. This lens can complete a photographers kit and replace multiple other lenses all in one package. The sharpness is just on another level completely, I can crop in and make a photo taken from a distance look like a macro shot. Sony did some wizadry when they cooked this boy up. This is the type of lens you own for 10-15 years because its hard to imagine it could ever be improved on.

I did not have the previous version of this lens so I cannot speak to any comparisons. I can say however it feels surprisingly lighter than it looks. The autofocus is super fast and image quality from my amateur eyes looks great. My only complaint would be that I wish the foot itself was arca swiss compatible. I know there are replacement feet or you can put another plate on the tripod foot, it's just too bad it doesn't come standard

Sharp and quick, but expensive. If you are looking for the best of the best in this range - this is the lens, I'm using it a lot for travels, you can pair with extender and get even more reach. Reduced weight (from gen 1) is significant, quality is unbeatable, but you will have to pay quite a price to get it.

This lens is a massive improvement over the original! Its features are great. I am able to take awesome pictures of the moon, cars, boats ,and events. It’s the perfect option for headshot photography. I use professionally and personally. I recently added, a teleconverter to this lens. The Sony 2x teleconverter has added additional reach to focal length of the lens. Make the 70-200mm f2.8 , a 140-400mm f5. Still creating quality photographs. Bird photography and wildlife photography is now better from this setup.

Crystal clear and fast focusing. Much lighter than my 100-400.

I have been looking for a long telephoto for months and tested virtually every other lens for Sony e-mount including the original version of this lens (not so good) with my A7R IV. Every single one had an unacceptably high rate of out of focus and soft focus shots under many conditions. Up to this point I had resisted buying this lens because of the price. Finally after exhausting virtually all other cheaper possibilities I spent the money! I am happy to report it was the best money I have ever spent! This lens is beyond good it is insanely good and the best lens I have ever used in nearly every category. I went from an estimated 30% keeper rate with most other lenses to a 95% keeper rate with this lens! The auto focus accuracy, sharpness, and picture quality are off the charts and my customers have been astounded by the quality! I cannot say enough about this lens coupled with the A7R IVA. It is mind blowingly good both for portrait and sports coverage and produces spectacular results with the right body! I should mention it destroys the cheaper shorter range 70-180mm from a competing manufacturer. Also be careful listening to biased influencers that profit financially or from receiving early access to new products. They may claim "the video is not sponsored" but receiving early (often pre-production) access to hot new products can also benefit them in terms of video views. What do you think happens to the early access a manufacturer gives them if their last product review was negative? Bottom line is I do not write many glowing reviews but after spending a few weeks doing shoots with this lens I could not be happier!

Odds are you’ve seen other reviews online that go into full details. If not, go check them out. My personal experience is that the lens feels very light for a 70-200 and the image quality is fantastically sharp.
