I am very happy with this lens. At all focal lengths, the image is clear, with good color. The image stabilization works very well in conjunction with that provided by the camera body. I really like a zoom that goes up to 300mm for that extra range. That build quality is excellent.
I now have a Sony body and three Sony lenses and could not be happier.

This lens is so incredibly sharp. With this one you can close up and personal with your subjects.
One other thing that surprised me is that it can also be used as a portrait lens too. Fast focus, sharp, short minimum distance... beautiful images!

I was tossed between this lens and the 70-200 f4. After testing both in store I decided the extra reach and ability to focus in closer on objects was worth it to me. The 100-400 would be been nicer but at the cost of an additional 1000 dollars. The pictures I have taken are fairly decent. Nothing compared to the 55 1.8 in sharpness but more than acceptable for animals in a distance and the flexibility of range it has.

Game Changer Lens for Sony

This is a very heavy and expensive lens, but knocks the photos out of the park. This was my only option to get to 300mm and I haven’t been disappointed. It would be great if this was my primary lens after what was paid for it. I have an APS-C Sensor so it pushes the minimum focal length to over 100 and the max to 450. This range makes portraits more difficult, but gets you closer to nature and action shots in sporting events. The bokeh is amazing.

The 70-300 is a far superior lens to the 55-210 and has a price to show for it. I love the lens on my Sony a6300 and only downside I have (apart from the cost) is that the size of the lens makes the alpha series cameras front heavy and less balanced and less ergonomic than the other general consumer telephoto lenses that Sony offers. The lock switch, to keep the lens from extending incidentally, is small but an excellent addition for those that go hiking or keep the camera slung over the shoulder.

Love this lens because of the size. Smaller than the 70-200 and you get an extra 100mm of focal length. However the aperture isn't f4 or 2.8. I primarily bought this for B role for video. And it's a G so you know it's crisp

I love love love this lens. On my A7rii it really pops. Images are crisp, contrasty, and rich looking. I do wish this was an F4, but today's cameras are so good in low light that it still works great.

This is an awesome lens! I've gotten some pretty amazing pictures with it to include the eclipse and a full moon at night. I wasn't able to take these photos before. The only reason I did 4 stars instead of 5 is beacause it is a heavy lens and does not have a mount on the lease for a tripod. I don't use tripods very much so it works well for me but it is so heavy that I wouldn't want to try this lens on a tripod anyway since it doesn't have the tripod mount.

I had this only for a few weeks. But I found this lens excellent. It is sturdy and very well balanced. It takes very good telephoto pictures. It is good for close-up also.
Other than it is little heavy, overall I am very satisfied.

I bought this lens rather than the 70-200mm for that extra reach while walking in the woods. I still would like a little more than 300 mm when birding. I also bought a 24-105mm f4 G at the same time and it has better sharpness than the 70-300mm. This lens seems to pixelate a little quicker at higher iso. It is a heavy lens so if that bothers you move to something else. I would recommend with explanation!

This lens gives you moderate reach for wildlife or sports; with the crop factor in my a6500 I'm getting out to 450mm and it is a very versatile lens with sharpness corner to corner!

I was very surprised by the weight of this lens. The picture quality has been amazing at the full moon range. I have yet to try it in lower light so I can't say yet how the focus speed will be. Overall it is a great lens

Some trouble with focusing. Not easy to do manually at all and sometimes very frustrating with auto-focus.
Otherwise, wonderful lens. Creates wonderful pics in sync with the great sensors of the Sony camera.
