The quality is superb and the auto-focus is lighting fast. Family have on occasion used the lens for low light sport photography since the sharpness allows them to crop and get a cleaner image than a telephoto would offer at the same shutter speed when compensating with a higher ISO. It's a bit expensive if you pay the usual price but it goes on sale pretty frequently.

Great Lens for Dedicated Portrait Work
