Love this lens! Really sharp, really fast and not too heavy. Also a good portrait length. Super fast AF on A9 and A7Riii.

On recommendation of LensRentals.com, I opted for this lens as a multi-purpose macro and portrait prime lens, as opposed to getting an 85mm 1.8. Focus seems quick and accurate and build quality feels great in the hand.

This is indeed my favorite lens. Whether it is in macro shooting or portrait shoots, it handles it quickly (focus) and sharply. The build is solid, switching between manual and auto focus is stupid simple,.. it just makes me happy. Aso, it was purchased as an Open-Box item and i have had no issues of regrets.

I’ve been eyeing this lens for awhile for macro photography. It was a bit out of my budget but I am one of those who believe that you should invest in something that you truly admire doing, especially if it is something you plan on doing in the long run. Myself, I ultimately purchased a Sony camera mainly for its highly rated reviews in lowlight photography. This lens of course is not for that, but I also wanted a camera to shoot macro work for textile inspiration. I researched quite a few lens and ultimately the reviews always came back to this lens.
I highly recommend going with this lens if you are passionate about macro photography and that is your main or one of your main styles to shoot. This lens came out years ago and still the reviews are amazing today as they were the day it came out.

Lens is so sharp it cuts like a knife. This is one of the many reasons to get into the Sony system, The lenses are tack sharp and there is no huge delineation like Canons L series lenses versus the other lenses whose front comes out which is really annoying. Honestly the normal Sony lenses are Z‘s branded and they are just as good often times as the G master lenses. During the Nikon D4 days that was a 4 megapixel camera. Between the Canon R5 and the Sony A7siii I get equally as good prints (and better in mine images) on a the BSI 12 megapixel sensor of the A7siii. The lenses are so sharp and the images are so good that it’s incredible. If you really care about megapixels you could have both the low light king A7siii and the A7iv or A7riv - Canon has nothing like this. The new R3 is great yet in low light it’s not even close.

I’m really loving this lens. Definitely still learning it. But the ease of use is nice. I’m a beginner and this lens makes everything so easy. Love the ring and being able to click and forth between auto and manual

This lense is absolutely worth every penny. Even though it is a first round G series Sony lense and nothing the G Master this lense preforms fantastically! Very sharp great 1 to 1 focusing very quick focus from first button touch.i am very satisfied with this lense...

This lens is spectacular in nearly every way. I use this lens to take stunning pictures of cannabis plants and it captures an incredible amount of detail. It performs exceedingly well on my Sony A7R3 camera, and also performed great with my Sony A6500.
Highly recommend this beauty for those looking to take their macro photography to the next level.

I used Sony A mount lens for several months and did not purchase an Emount lens when I bought my A7. This is my first Emount lens and I'm glad that I waited! I use this lens primarily for portraits. This lens is well worth every dollar spent! 6 stars please!!!

Best lens for portraits and macro in one,
This lens is pack with features. Lens stabilizer, push/pull auto and manual focusing. 1:1 macro. Bokeh is good, built us good.
The only thing is no weather sealing on the lens
I would give 4 and half stars and not 4

I love macro lenses and my old brand only had a 60mm or a 200mm option. 90 is perfect, and it is 2.8 not f/4! Great results and the push-pull to AF/MF is sweet for fast adjustment. So glad I got it.

I sold the canon 100mm f/2.8 macro after switching systems. IMO AF & image rendering are superior to the canon. Good portrait lens too. Hard not to love
