I bought this camcorder to record some small events. The picture quality is ok and sound will depend of your background. I had to be very close in order to get good voice recording. Not great when wind is blowing hard, Not much to add, it is really basic, has good zoom, it is user friendly, I would recommend to a friend with this disclaim; if his/her purpose is to record their kids playing or if they are not looking for great quality as upgrades are limited (additional microphones wasn’t a good option, neither noise concealer) it’s a cheap choice for everyday activities. Not good for major events or large areas regardless if outdoor or indoor. Definitely not good for fast action activities.

I haven't bought a digital camera in some times since, like most people, I can rely on the camera on my smartphone. I decided to invest in this Sony to shoot longer videos. It's been a good purchase. It's easy to use. Takes clear videos and photos. Unless you want to invest in something high-end, this is a good, bargain-priced option.

Bought this camera for a rail trip to the Grand Canyon. Camera was easy to use as it fit in my right hand with easy to access video, still shot, on and off buttons. Flat screen display was nice to use except when in a position where the sunlight washed out the display. Bought two batteries as previous experience with another camera made me wish I had done that at that time. Buying a separate charger for the batteries might be a good idea as you have to charge the batteries IN THE CAMERA which means you can't use the camera at that time OR must remember to charge the batteries over night or when the camera is not being used. Great zoom (60x). Bought 128 GB memory which turned out to be over 14 hours (!) of recording time (2nd highest resolution setting - which allowed taking still shots AND video shots WITHOUT going into menus to change settings!). Just came back from trip so have yet to actually look at what I shot (video) or print (still photos) so can't offer any comments there.

I bought this video camera because it's a Sony and Sony has a very good reputation. It also had decent reviews. I haven't used it nearly as much as I thought I would. But when I have used it, it has done a nice job. Very Compact size fits nicely into my palm. Battery life seems to be very good as well as the zoom feature. I expect it will prove to be a decent purchase and value for the money spent.

I would recommend for mature adult. Works well but relatively all plastic. Could easily be dropped and broke. I bought and installed a Camera Handle Grip Support Mount Universal Handlegrip. This way I can hold camera steady and manipulate the buttons easily. Competitive pricing and spare aftermarket batteries are available.

I love it! I got this camcorder to record my girlfriend’s pregnancy and our daughter’s milestones, and everyday life. Quality is great both audio and video. The flippable screen is a huge plus when I want to set the camera away and record all three of us. 10/10 would buy again!

We never had or used a camcorder before. This Sony camcorder was available at a great price and is simple to use. It also looks very nice. The battery lasts for 2 hours or so buying a 2nd battery is a good idea. Thankfully after 2 hours we were able to plug it in to an outlet. And then it continued to record beautifully.

I have had a few camcorders through the years and this one counts as one of my favorites. Easy to use and very lightweight. I would recommend getting a camera bag because the camcorder is very light in your hands. It is almost as light as a cellphone. I ordered the camera online and picked it up at the store. Very easy transaction and the lady who helped me was very polite and professional. Great price also.

    Ridiculously Small yet Awesome

This camera is actually way smaller & extremely light-weight than I expected. It's to the point it's ridiculously small, yet as an experienced various consumer cameras, to some pro cameras user, this one is still awesome. I think women will love it as it likely will conveniently slip into a purse, complete w/a built-in physical lens shutter-cap, so great for a roving reporter doing their own pick-up & insert shots. Sony always does marvelous things when it comes to lenses. Even when I purposely switch off digital zoom (as that usually degrades the pic./video, & despite the model claims to have a circuitry which somewhat fixes that), the optical zoom is impressive to me. There are several record modes. I like the one dual mode where it keeps the highest video quality at full HD, even audio at PCM so no compression, & simultaneously records a lower resolution file at 1280x720, which even looks great to me. That means there's no waiting for your PC software to compress a video because some social media won't take it (other than to trim its duration). It's very helpful & convenient to even take MP snapshots while rolling video record! It's auto settings are very helpful too, & you can take the focus into a manual mode if you want control over that for one. I say, match this with a camera stabilizer rig (it does have a standard tripod hole mount) & you'll be recording like a pro! Oh, & Sony tends to have nicer sounding built-in mics. on their cams., like this one, where I lean on using its stereo sound over other cams. in a multi-cam. shoot & edit. I think the only main drawback is a lack of a remote control, even had it been an optional (wasn't able to track one down so far). Another slight negative, is there is no view finder. Did you notice? Many likely miss that/don't look for it, but even w/a swing-out display panel, such panel usually consumes batt. power on location. Although newer CMOS cams. (vs. CCD) tend to run the cam. cooler w/less power consumption, I'm sure this cam. would've maintained longer running power had you had a dual opt. of both panel & viewfinder, while using the viewfinder mostly. Come to think of it, though affects your movement-safety visibility, a viewfinder would aid in outdoor bright sunny days. Well, I can go on, but what do you expect from a consumer model cam. that wants to have some pro like features & results, but maintain a low-budget price range? I'd still buy another one for a multi-cam. shoot setting.

Bought this to livestream our Wednesday night service that doesn't take place in our main building. We have to zoom and the lighting isn't that great, as a result the picture quality of this camera isn't spectacular. But that's to be expected since this camcorder is around $200. AND! I knew that purchasing this camera. Just needed something to get the job done without breaking the bank. When it comes to livestreams (churches mainly) sound quality is going to be more important the visual (if I had to choose). So if you're looking for something to get you started, this is a good camera to start with. I should note that I'd imagine that the video quality would drastically improve IF I didn't have to zoom in so much.

This is a good video camera at an affordable price. It provides high quality video and photos, but note that it is not 4K and doesn't have too many bells and whistles like you do with the newer models. Our use for the video camera is to use it as a monitoring device and is on a tripod all the time. We need to review the footage occasionally. So having the video on a microSD card makes it easy to swap out the cards and keep the camera recording while reviewing the recorded footage on a PC or TV. Video camera takes up to 512 GB microSD card without issues (I have not tried cards with higher capacity than that.) One thing I should point out, just in case someone cannot find their videos on the microSD card: The video files get saved into a "private" folder by default.

Perfect handheld compact camera. I use to record my child’s sports activity. I like the built in connection to charge or hookup to your tv to playback recordings. Image and sound quality is great for the price paid. I wish the battery had longer life...I just make sure to carry a fully charged spare battery with me just in case.

I purchased this camcorder to use for live streaming some indoor events. Setting it up was easy. The menu system is simple but effective for most scenarios. The small size makes it easy to have with you just about anywhere you go. The video quality is good as long as there is plenty of light. Best used outdoors or indoors with bright lighting. Once the light level drops to typical indoor lighting levels or lower, the image becomes quite grainy. It's ok for home movies and non-critical videos but it wasn't suitable for the quality level I was looking for so I returned it. The reason I say this camcorder is good for it's class is because any small camcorder will have the same problem with graininess indoors or in low light as this one. It's a limitation of the small sensor that all these small camcorders contain. But when there's enough light this one stands out as one of the best due to it's combination of small size, ease of use, and good video quality.
