    Disappointed in a company with such a great reputa

    This overall picture quality is sub standard for Sony. Even with lighting, video playback is reminiscent of something recorded on a $79.00 Vivitar or something. Sony has been known to set quality standards even on entry level, but they dropped the ball hard on this one. Most beginners nowadays use their smartphones and then if passionate enough will upgrade to a camera. Video cameras with poor playback quality like this one is going to help seal the fate of the camcorder market and allow DSLR’s to become the choice filming option! I know the economy is rough right now, but it’s no excuse for putting out substandard electronics. Hopefully Sony will revamp the quality of even this base model so the world can truly see why consumers have a historical respect for the quality of this companies products

    Horrible Video Quality!

    I am very disappointed with this camcorder because the video quality looks great on the camcorder and very crappy on my computer. On the computer the videos are very dark and grainy. It took me hours to edit the videos to make them somewhat usable for my YouTube Channel. Unfortunately, I did not get to return this camcorder back to BestBuy in time to get a refund. I wasted $200.00, which is a shame! I ended up buying a far less expensive camcorder costing $70.00 that has far better video quality when uploaded to my computer. Finally, I did not like the AVCHD formats, which is not standard. Therefore, I do not recommend buying this camcorder.

    Stay away if you use an older computer

    I wound up having to return this camera. It looked nice and looking at the visual quality on the cameras screen itself it looked great. I have a youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xh6rF7NCWY0 using this camera. As you can see, it looks like something I would expect from a standard definition camera circa 2004. I had to go out and buy special software to edit this together, as windows movie maker does not support AVCHD or whatever the heck it is that Sony uses in order to be different from everybody else, which was an additional $35. When I lose footage and its the fault of the camera, that's when it goes bye-bye. I didn't have any sound on the last video that I recorded with it, so back to the store it went. Very, very disappointed. I went out and bought a Canon instead.

    Feeling Duped

    I read as many reviews as I could about this camcorder before I decided to purchase it. Everywhere online, it has an overall rating of 4.5-4.7, so I felt pretty confident in buying it. It's been less than 2 months later and the backlight in the LCD viewfinder has gone out. I can't see anything in the viewfinder and I can't use it! I can't return it because I made the mistake of not buying a warranty and SONY is giving me trouble trying to get their warranty to fix this. I do not recommend. This has only been used a handful of times and no one has pressed down on the viewfinder enough to cause damage to it. In fact, all I did was sit down and it blacked out!

    Inferior Technology

    Returning this camera asap. The camera is impossible to connect with my computer. The "Play Memories" web portal/ download/application is about as convoluted and complicated an ordeal as I have ever experienced...just to be able to download photos and video to my computer from the camera. (Using a new computer.) The operations manual has about as much detail as a package of dry soup mix. Online manual with any detail is non-existent as well as phone support. I would not recommend this camera.

    Continues to fail!

    I bought the camera to set on a tripod and video tape my child's soccer games. It worked for about a month and then started having problems writing to the memory card. I sent it in for repair and then received it back in about a month. After a week of use, it's having the same problem. I've reformatted the memory card and used other ones to make sure it's the camera and not the card. At this point I want my money back. I didn't expect fantastic quality from a $200 camera, but I expected it to function.

    NEVER AGAIN will I buy a Sony. The camera works well and is priced fairly. The problem I have with this camera is it requires you install a Sony program to view your movies. So if you take movies at someone elses house you need to install the Sony program on their computer to give them a copy of your video. The sd card appears unformatted to a computer and plugging in the usb cable gets you nothing without the program. REALLY !!! Why would Sony make it so hard to get to your own videos? This has caused so much unnecessary fustration that I am done with Sony.

    This has got to be the widest quality camera/camcorder. It was actually laughable. I’m better off taking home videos on my iPhone because the quality on my iPhone is 10x better than this. Also, the first package arrived to me damaged. The replacement packages box was dented... what kind of shipping is that? I returned it as soon as I turned it on for one minute and saw the horrible picture quality.

    Had to return. Too many glitches

    Camera had too many glitches First, the battery would not charge. I left it on the charger for 2 days and still no charge. So I used it with elec cord. Then it started shutting down and restarting every 3 minutes when recording. Took it back for a refund. PS. This was the 2nd camera I had to return because of problems. The other one would not auto focus and digital zoom did not work. Very disappointed with Sony!

    Stay away

    Bought it January 18th of this year. Used it twice, charged it. Used it yesterday all day, then charged it. Today? Yeah, battery went dead and so did the camera. It won't work, won't charge, nothing. 3 1/2 months later, only 4 or 5 uses, and it's dead. Of course BB won't help because I didn't buy their warranty, so now I have to go through Sony. How ridiculous. Stay away from this one.

    I can shoot videos with the same resolution and audio using the camera on my phone. This product does not shoot in true "HD." If you want to view the videos on small devices (phone, tablet, etc) it's fine, but to display them on an HDTV it's an absolute embarrassment. Unfortunately, I guess you get what you pay for in this case. It explains why they are on clearance. I will be returning this product asap.

    Horrible! Videos are grainy, playing them back on PlayMemories sucks! They skip and the uploads to PlayMemories online make them even worse! Don't pay attention to all of those glowing reviews...I bought this for my daughter's recital and I'm so disappointed!

    I bought it online from bestbuy for my trip and disappointed because it the quality of the picture and how the video appears on my laptop. When I came back from the trip it's too late to return. The customer service person told me to call Sony but I dont think they'd do something.

    When you hold this camera in your hand it feels like a child’s toy. Feels flimsy and cheap. Being Sony I figured it couldn’t be that bad. Well I was wrong. The battery is horrible. Took it to record my brother’s basketball game and didn’t even get to the 4th quarter.
