Must have for great sound during movie night.

The setup is very easy with some on screen setup options. Works great with eArc from the TV and the sound is excellent. One of the best soundbars, but not = separates

The latest Dolby processing in this soundbar does a better job than any other soundbar I tried, but be realistic, this wil not challenge a surround speaker system. But as I was looking for a small footprint single location device, this does well. Without the sub (SW5), there is very little bass down in what I all the impact region, those movie moments you feel, like the footsteps in Jurassic Park. I have considered pairing the small wireless rear speakers Sony offers, but have not yet, and overall for occasional use, this is pretty decent. Had some initial difficulty with this not always automatically coming on with an XBR 65A80J, but a firmware update seems to have solved that.

No Regrets

I was skeptical about this system due to the price but was pleasantly surprised. I couldn't justify the HT-7000 price for two more speakers and I'm happy with the HT-5000. Incredibly easy to set up. The range is excellent. The Atmos effect is incredibly pronounced. You must buy the entire system to have incredible sound. I connected the sound bar and subwoofer and thought I made a mistake with this purchase. It wasn't until I connected the rear speakers that the system came alive. Window rattling bass. Crystal clear dialogue. Music, movies, YT vids, even DTV sounds great. I have zero regrets. This is best setup besides a full component system.

After listening to the Arc, the Bose 900, and a few others, I was very pleasantly surprised with the quality of the Sony with the sub. When the sales associate turned on the optional rear surrounds, I was hooked. Also listened to Sony’s 7000 series sound bar, but couldn’t differentiate enough difference to justify the extra money. Got it home, hooked it up in my medium sized living room, ran all of the updates and calibration, and was blown away. My best friend, who does audio work, and owns an Arc system said that he thinks he might like the sound quality on the Sony even more than his Sonos. Very happy with this purchase, and recommend this sound bar.

Almost automatic on my Samsung. Sound is a little heavy in the midrange. Don’t have to but a Subwoofer is almost essential.

Great sound, big problem

This bar does put out a LOT of sound. So. Much. Sound. Resets and updates have done nothing. Sony will definitely not be the first choice on my next shopping trip.

That being said it's a very well made soundbar with a quality build and plenty of power to push the speakers. It's rather large to make sure you think about how you are going to set this up. I will eventually set this up in my main living room when i purchase a larger T.V. stand and then i will also purchase the 2 wireless speakers and the subwoofer.

Pricey but pretty darn good sound

A bit pricey for all but the sub and speakers really rounded out the experience. Sounds great with movies but what I was really impressed with is the sound with music sources. Airplay from my iphone sounds very good and surround from some bluray DTS-MA concerts is just magical. Tried some surround SACD's and DVD-Audio disks but the soundbar won't accept the copy protected input. System is connected to a Sony 900H TV (which has had more than its share of issues) so the remote controls most soundbar settings which is convenient. Overall quite happy.

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awsome point blank i have the sub will be getting the rear speakers in the near future ******warning, if you're considering mounting the soundbar to your wall mount, avoid the recommeded universal soundbar mount because it is not wide enough for The 5000 model ,, the recommend mont extend to 35" and the 5000 sound bar is 38" as far as the mounting holes underneath, Other than that im extremely satisfied with the sound and the bulid of the sound bar and sub , ( i got the 200w) ..
