A little disappointed

But my biggest disappointment about the system is the volume. I have to turn the volume all the way up to at least 22 just so I can get a decent impact of a movie that I’m watching. I also have the Sony Z9F and that soundbar impact on volume 13 with base and rear speaker sounds better than the Sony HT-A7000. Now once I turn A7000 the volume up to 25 and you it really fills the room. I shouldn’t have to turn the volume that high to feel it power. Especially when I spend all this money on the rear speakers and the big subwoofer separately. I tried all the tricks to try to get the sound louder. I even looked at YouTube videos and trouble shoot and nothing has changed. It’s m thinking about getting my money back.

Thank you for your time writing this review. We regret to hear if you find the volume of the soundbar and optional rear speakers/subwoofer not as loud as you would have liked and it hasn't performed to your standards. Allow us to help you and turn your experience around. If the audio coming through is low or you are not hearing any audio from the wireless rear speakers for the speaker system, there are a couple of items that will need to be checked:
• The Rear speaker plays surround sound as part of the multi-channel sound or processed from the 2-channel sound. However, because of the characteristics of the rear speaker, the sound may be low depending on the playback source.
• Depending on the combination of the setting of SOUND FIELD and input signal, surround sound processing may not work effectively. The surround effect may be subtle, depending on the program or disc.
• Set the night mode to off then check the wireless connection status in [Settings] - [Wireless Speaker Settings] - [Wireless speaker status check] on the app screen.
• Make sure to run Sound Field Optimization so that the audio system can calibrate its performance to your environment, and that it sounds like it was engineered to be in your room.

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony A80K 77” with S-Synch and 10 yo Sony STR-DN840 7.2 with Polk speakers is my current legacy system. Despite the majority of reviews rating Samsung Q990C higher for both sound and value thanks to significantly lower price (especially with Sony RS5 rear speakers and SW5 bass), i opted for the Sony largely because I wanted the convenience of a single Sony remote and take advantage of S-Synch turning my 77” TV into a massive center speaker. After multiple attempts with two different HT A7000, rebooting both devices, repeatedly disconnecting the 3.5 mm jack as well as hdmi 2.1 cords, the S-sync fails to work. Research online, and you’d be hard pressed to find any post 2021 Sony OLED owner able to get S-Sync to function. Without this synchronicity, why would I (anyone) pay at least 50% more for the Sony system over the Samsung 990C? If you want to spend more money, consider Sonos or the holy grail of sound bars, the Nakamichi Dragon. Frankly my 10 yo 7.2 channel Sony system works really well such that the upward firing Dolby Atmos provides incremental immersion. Unless you install ceiling speakers, the relatively tiny upward firing speakers of the most popular sound bars might not be worth the $1,000+ if you already have a decent 7.2 legacy AV system. If you don’t have a surround system, sure, get atmos, just expect for S-Sync to work and accept you’ve overpaid for a system not as highly rated as the Samsung, Sonos or Nakamichi.

Unfortunately, you cannot use your A80K as a center channel speaker for the HT-A7000. Currently, BRAVIA Acoustic Center Sync mode is only compatible with 2021 BRAVIA TV models such as the Z9J series, A90J series, A80J, and X95J series and with the following 2022 models: X90K, A80K, A90K, A90J, A95K, X95K, and Z9K.
Although you cannot utilize the Acoustic Center Sync feature, you'll still be able to enjoy the new level of immersion that envelops you in 7.1.2 channel surround sound with multiple speakers, a built-in subwoofer and advanced audio technologies, optional rear speakers that supports 360 Spatial Sound Mapping with your new Sony HTA7000.

Nice simple setup, install and remote. Add it to the TV and you don't have to go to the theater again. Nice solid black build, if it's right under the TV you can't even notice it.

Outstanding sound at a price.

We felt that the sound quality especially with Atmos was a notch above the others. We also purchased the wireless subwoofer and rear speakers. Once we tweaked the system to our environment, I can say it was the right decision. We did have some trouble with the wireless speakers stuttering but switching the soundbar parameters to 'Connection' versus 'Quality' corrected the problem. The built-in setup routine is ok but we had better luck tweaking the sound manually. The surround effect is exceptional for newer shows, but even older media is improved. The voices are very clear, and the room fills with rich distinct sound. The system would have gotten 5 stars if it wasn't so expensive. It's pricey, but we can honestly say that this is the best sounding system we have ever had.

Go through the easy set up and then cue up "Master and Commander" on your DVD player. You will want to duck for cover. It is very heavy so you won't want to plan on moving it frequently.

Worst thing is there is no mobile app to control the settings of soundbar , subwoofer, surround etc. Looks like Sony has Bravia Connect app thats works only new soundbar 8 and 9. not compatible with HT-A7000.

As of now, the HT-A7000 is not compatible with the BRAVIA Connect app. However, Sony is continuously updating its app and devices. I didn’t want to buy the rears because I wouldn’t be able to place them anywhere my wife would approve. And didn’t want to buy the sub because, neighbors. Honestly, even by itself it does a pretty decent job. And sometimes it even manages to surprise me as the sound can be truly immersive with a very wide soundstage. I rated it 4 starts instead of 5 because this won’t replace an audio system with dedicated speakers. There hasn’t been a single instance where I thought the sound was coming from behind me or above me. But if you don’t have such expectations, this sound bar is perfect. Keep in mind that you will most likely need to play with the sound settings to get the best out of it. But if you refer online forums, you should find the settings that will work for your environment.
