This is probably overkill for a small room - we have it set up in a 25x25ft room and it fills the whole thing with sound perfectly. Watched Mad Max Fury Road on this to really test it out, it was insane.

It was a great deal and a little upgrade from my Sony HT-A5000 that I was using for my main tv. I also have the RS5 rear speakers and an SW3 subwoofer. I was really happy about the great deal and the increase in power with the HT-A7000 I bought from Best Buy. I noticed something didn’t sound right very quickly. I wasn’t sure if I had the settings wrong or what but I wasn’t hearing sound from 2 of the speakers on the front channel. I called Sony support and after trouble shooting and sending in my copy of my open box item receipt, I was advised to send the soundbar in for repair. Fine, no big deal, the Sony tech 2 agent told me u was cleared for repair based on me sending him a copy of the receipt. I decided to agree with this procedure due to the fact that Best Buy didn’t have anymore of this item in stock. Long story short, the repair company, after receiving the item is saying, per a conversation they with with Sony themselves, that this item wasn’t covered under warranty. The Best Buy app, website, and store employees, including the one that sold the soundbar to me, all state that open box items still have the manufacturers warranty. I know this, Best Buy knows this, but for some reason Sony is saying they won’t honor my warranty because my receipt says “satisfactory “ instead of “good”. The app when I purchased it said “good” as did the sticker on the soundbar indicating it was open box. So now I’m screwed. This is actually the second open box item that was not checked prior to selling it from this Tucson location, and the fourth that has been misrepresented. I REALLY would like some help from Best Buy or Sony on this. I just want the repair done so I can enjoy my sound system! I have purchased a 65” A80K, an HT-A5000, an HT-A3000, the SW5 and SW3 rear satellite speakers, an SW3 subwoofer and an S40C system, all Sony and almost all from Best Buy. I need help! Supremely disappointed!! The sound bar is amazing! I know this because I have experienced one that was fully functioning. It blew me away as does almost every Sony product I have. The rating is based on my experience with this item due to incorrect information, and terrible communication between Sony and Best Buy. Also, Geek Squad truly needs to check these items instead of just plugging them in and seeing power is on. They are supposed to be thoroughly inspected. This is the fourth open box item that has been completely misrepresented or not functioning “as new”. One was even sent to me with a remote that wasn’t even compatible with the soundbar I purchased and it was labeled “excellent “. Just poor employee performance with that one. Another was “good” condition and had NO accessories at all. None of the essential items were there, actually none of the accessories were there so total misrepresentation. I have water a lot of time due to situations like this on Best Buy’s part.

Liked The idea of using the tv speakers to help center and helped, but disappointed overall with the lack of sound adjustment. I had the surround speakers and the sw5 subwoofer. The subwoofer has the Capability to put out good bass but not at the right frequency for my taste. I felt like the voices were muffled with certain content, especially playing purchased movies on google play movies app. When you increase the bass all the way to get the deep bass rumble in action packed movies, it also adds the bass to the voices and other sounds and was very annoying. I could not hear voices good, even after playing with all adjustments and calibrations, for the 15 day return period. The demo sounded amazing, yet when I would play a surround test off YouTube app, some of the sounds didn’t get output to any of the speakers. It played fine on the tv speakers, so the audio was there, but it’s almost like the sound bar stripped out audio. Even the sound presets they have do not make a big enough difference in sound distinguish. I probably would of kept the setup if there was an equalizer like the tv has, so I can adjust it so the higher frequency vocals and sounds are more crisp and less bass, and make the lower frequency sounds get more bass. Also I do not like the fabric on the top and sides of the a7000 sound bar. I preferred the ht-a5000 design better. But the a7000 had better left and right front surround, and a little better treble. I would never recommend this to someone if they are not connecting it to a tv with the s-center sync feature, because the sound would be even more muffled. I really wanted to like it, but due to Sonys lack of adjustments, I had to return it all and will be unfortunately looking at another brand.

We are sorry to hear that the HTA7000 did not meet your expectations and had to return the unit. Depending on the input signal and the sound mode setting, surround sound processing may not work effectively. For this, we recommend using the Sound Field Optimization feature. This will measure the position of each speaker and optimizes the sound to your room.

Without the additional speakers it sounded ok, which is not great considering the price for just the standalone soundbar and why I am giving 4 stars for value.

To appreciate the capabilities of the system go to YouTube TV and play the Dolby 7.1.2 demo. The sound does surround you and bounces off the ceiling. The voice option really enhances the dialog of regular programming making it easier to hear through the S Center channel of the TV.

If you have a small apartment or living room, it is a must buy! It is not super loud, but has better clairity and soundstage.
