Bought this brand, new item, and set it up with it being bricked. It is stuck on the “hello” screen, and I’ve tried everything to get it off of there. Really sad that you spend that much money on a premium sound bar, and it doesn’t work out of the box.

Hi Marshatherton, We are sorry to hear about the issue you are having. This is usually not the case for our soundbar nor the experience we want you to have. If the soundbar got stuck on "Hello" screen and you're unable to operate the unit, please try the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.

Disconnect the AC power cord (mains lead) from the wall outlet (mains), and then reconnect after several minutes.
If the speaker system still does not operate properly, reset the speaker system. To reset the unit, Press and hold the (power) and – (volume) on the bar speaker for more than 5 seconds.

    Awesome Soundbar!!!

This sound bar is really worth the high price tag. First one arrived damaged from FedEx but Bestbuy did a great job getting another one shipped out that arrived okay by UPS. I'm not really any understanding the negative comments on this item. What Hifi did a good review and rated it a full five stars while eating it the best soundbar available. The clarity of great so any dialogue not clearly heard of not the fault of this soundbar but it's due to the source. I watched Prime's Tomorrow War and was blown away by the Dolby Atmos quality. During the fight scene in the building stairs, I heard bullets all around me. I have a 5.1 system with Aerial Acoustic speakers so I know what great surround sound is. Even though it is a great system, it isn't able to produce the sounds up high like Dolby Atmos does. The scene at the end of the movie when they are in Russia's winter had me hearing the icy snow all around me. I am blown away how much is heard with just a soundbar. What Hifi was right about this soundbar, rating it better than the Sonos Arc with a bigger soundstage. High definition music is very good through the A7000. I was shocked how good the SQ is as an audiophile that has didn't thousands on audio equipment. I would have never believed the SQ would have been as good as it is from a single soundbar. The treble quality is excellent with great detail on symbol kids where a lot off speakers sound to harsh in the upper frequencies making me want to turn down the volume. Great to know this awesome soundbar is so balanced. The bass is high quality. No, it won't make you think it replaces a subwoofer but it shouldn't it the bass would be too boomy. Sony makes high-end audio equipment and speakers so obvious they know what they are doing. I would strongly recommend going into the advanced setup and entering the true speakers distances from each wall and ceiling. I did this after doing the easy setup and listening to the soundbar for a few days. I like to take my time before making any changes so I clearly understand the benefit. The changes clearly made an improvement in the overall SQ. Good luck. Don't trust any reviews that bash this awesome soundbar. They aren't telling the truth or doing something to make the SQ less than it should be from this high-end soundbar. I am not anxious at all to run out and buy the subwoofer and/or surrounds. I've read some reviews question Sony's quality. I'm perplexed by these statements since I've always held Sony as pricing the biggest quality products. I have quite a few Sony products with all of them still working including a 20+ year old portable radio that still works and sounds great. I am actually willing to pay more for Sony quality. Many of the soundbar companies are brand new so who knows how they will work down the road. Give this awesome soundboard a try, you won't be sorry. I really hesitated paying the amount of money but knowing how well it performs including music makes it a bargain. Many don't realize how hard it is to make a home theater product that also excels in music and this A7000 clearly does.

Hi RobH, We appreciate your detialed review. We are glad that you are enjoying your new soundbar. The HT-A7000 has 7.1.2 channels, two up-firing speakers for overhead sound, two beam tweeters and five front speakers for wider surround and a built-in dual subwoofer for deep bass. With Vertical Surround Engine and S-Force PRO Front Surround, HT-A7000 creates virtual surround sound that comes from all around you so you can fully enjoy the thrill of Dolby Atmos® and DTS:X®. Thanks to Sony’s virtual surround technology, the soundbar can position sound in vertical space—so you can experience 3D audio without the need for in-ceiling speakers. As well as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, Vertical Surround Engine lends a more realistic, multi-dimensional sound to other formats, too. Thank you for choosing Sony. Erin Sony_US

I bought the hta7000 as an open box item in "excellent" condition for around $400. I have to say, I'm really impressed by the quality of best buy's open box items. At this price, its a very good sony product. Its very well built and gives off a premium look and feel with the glass top, touch controls (although youll probably never use that). Audio is very clear and gets veyd loud for my apartment. It has 2 built in subwoofers , sonys sparial sound mapping tech, immersive audio and a lot many features but like every other reviewer says, you need the separate subwoofer and rear speakers to truly enjoy the experience. I got them and now the whole experience is elevated. So to conclude, as a standalone sound bar, I wouldn't recommend it but if you get it on offer and also get the subwoofer and rears, its worth it.

Having read your review about customizing your ultimate sound, the HT-A7000 is packed with class leading technology for the best sound experience. While it is impressive on its own, adding an optional subwoofer (SA-SW3 and SA-SW5) and rear speakers (SA-RS3S and SA-RS5) can greatly elevate the overall audio quality and enhance the immersion of your content. Sound: Crisp, clean and refreshing. Without the the rear speakers, sound will feel incomplete because of software simulation of 7.1.2 channel without the rears. But as soon as I added the RS5, the room is immersive. Yes there are other competitive bars with 11.1.4 channel etc.. but they did not even come close to the quality of Sony bar. Also adding a sub is a mandatory to have a decent bass listening experience. Went with SW5 as many other online recommendations and did not disappoint at all. Wireless Connectivity - SUB and Rears connect wirelessly to sub and I believe they rely on the router (RF channel) connection. So having a decent router at home will cause less dropouts in my experience. HDMI Inputs - It has two complete full range HDMI inputs which will help drive Gaming console/Bluray to deliver the DTS tracks to sound bar directly and pass through the 4k video up to your video source without any loss of Dolby Vision/HDR. This sound-bar supports most commercial available audio formats like DTS formats from Blu-ray discs. Looks: Fantastic and Premium feel for a sound-bar Things to improve Price: Even with Black Friday deals, the premium is very high when compared with similar products. Power Boot Cycle: System needs to be in standby if expecting it to work seamlessly or intended with EARC turn on/off. If ever the power is turned off and then the connected AC power is disconnected, boot time of the bar is varying between 30 ~ 90 seconds, even Sony support doesn't have proper answers to this. Sometimes if network standby is turned off, RF channel needs to be checked occasionally, else SUB will make weird pop sounds. Keeping the sound-bar network standby to On will avoid this, I guess Sony is calculating the best RF channel in the background. Sound/System Settings - Would be nice to have some detailed explanation of various settings online/Sony website but information is very minimal and will have to tweak the settings for a while to have the desired listening experience. Overall: Highly satisfied and would recommend to others if the priority is to have great overall sound experience

I purchased this sound bar to replace a fairly decent 5.1 system. Along with the sound bar, I also purchased the matching subwoofer (SASW5) at the same time and the added the rear surrounds (SARS3S) a bit later. I enabled the components one at a time with the sound bar first (of course). For just the sound bar itself, it's pretty good - nice clarity, can get pretty low frequencies but not "feel it" bass, and object sound does move across the room. However, I definitely wouldn't call it a standalone component. Next, I added in the subwoofer. Big, big difference. Changed to sound profile entirely. If you buy this sound bar, you need the sub. But, sound didn't seem to move around me as much as I thought it would from an Atmos system so I bought the matching rear surrounds. They made a noticeable difference. With them, sound really does move all around you. In summary, it's a very impressive system but really only if you buy the matching sub and surrounds. Set up was as easy as you could ask for and the difference compared to my prior 5.1 system is night and day. It's not a cheap proposition when you factor in the cost of the additional components so if you do want a complete Atmos experience from Sony, make sure the budget supports it.

I bought the complete Bose 900 system first, but returned it cause the rear speakers were non existent, nothing I did made them louder. The Bose 900 sound at is definitely loud but it constantly dropped signal to the point I had to reset it 2-3x a day so back in the box and to Best Buy it went. Figured I’d try the Sony setup, and I must say combined with my newer Sony Tv it all works really well together. The sound bar and the 360 sound is real and the rear speakers turned up slightly and a few other changes in settings really brought this system to life. It sounds good, I did a lot of tweaking in the manual setting to make it the way I want and it’s absolutely perfect. The 300 watt bass module is a little weird, puts out tons of base almost too much so I have it turned down almost all the way. But it does kinda max out to the point it kinda drowns itself out but that was just testing it to see it’s capability. Normal movie or music it’s plenty loud enough if that’s your thing, super bass is not something I need. But the sound with all 3 together is absolutely astounding. Even turned down low I can still hear every word, my living room is 22x28 and sound just fills the room from every direction, it’s exactly what I wanted. Way to expensive though. Setup was super easy, Bluetooth works awesome, AirPlay. Never any connection or dropped signal issues. Honestly I have nothing to complain about if you got the coin I’d get it.

ive had this soundbar and 300 watt sub for almost a week, just got the surround sound speakers today.it sounds amazing when you put in a blue ray movie.the surround sound speakers bring it to life but not over bearing,i put in men in black 3 and the newest ninja turtles movie,i do not hear sound comming from the ceiling like the adds i saw and heard on you tube but it fills my room with sound, i have it in a small to med size bedroom that i turned into a small home theater room.music sounds very good but not as good as my big polk audio system with a sony reciever and a golden ear 1000 watt sub,but it does a great job in a medium size room.wish i could hear the a 9 system best buy should have a couple of real good systems set up in the show room with a couch and chairs .i was at best buy in buffalo ny about 12 yrs ago or so. they had the definative sound bar and sub hooked up and playing a dvd in a living room type of set up i got back hoem and ordered one,i wish it had surround speakersmbut the new sony a 7000 is better and the sub has great clean bass, only bad thing is the price, not a lot of people will spend that kindf of money on a sound bar,i sold some older speakers i had to a friend which helped me pay for the sony,

    A Review I Needed Before I Purchased

Before I get into the review, this is a great soundbar by itself. I really enjoy using it and I use it daily for music, movies/tv shows, and games. I'm gonna go over everything, but if you're wanting a yes or no on whether to get this item, the answer is yes, but only if it's on sale as I think the price is still quite high. Setup: The set up for this item was really simple. The box was quite heavy due to the soundbar. It got a bit of weight, but nothing one person can't handle. Make sure that you have the room on your tv stand to put it there as I've talked with Geek Squad who said that they would recommend against mounting this soundbar. Interface: The onscreen setup is quite easy with the onscreen interface. The remote is a bit finicky, but nothing too bad. Once you do the sound optimization for the room, you're also given the option in the advanced settings to make more adjustments. This is whether the soundbar is under the tv, in front of the tv, etc. As well as the height to the ceiling, to you, etc. I personally use manual, but have tried the optimized settings before and found some to be great and some not so great depending on the content being viewed. HDMI Usage: Okay, so I have an Apple TV connected to this and it was really simple to connect and setup. There is a delay of a couple seconds when turning on the Apple TV and having the HDMI recognize it and switch the input, but it's been really simple and effective. There's no lag that I've seen when using the Apple TV for audio or video so I would say this was a great investment for this portion! Sound: The main reason everyone wants this I would assume. So this soundbar gets really loud, but distortion isn't something I hear. I really love it, especially when using the TV as a center channel (this can be done on Sony TVs that allow this. I believe they are Bravia ones, but you can search and find out more). When watching shows with low audio, I love that I can adjust and have the option to have more clear voice audio. The bass is great for soundbar! I do recommend a subwoofer, but wouldn't go all out, I went with the SW3 and that was simple to pair. Not necessarily a need, but would be great if you have the budget for it. Applications/Other: The soundbar has chromecast and Spotify Connect. I've used both and can say they both work really well! The spotify connect is pretty instant and I like that I can change things pretty quickly. Chromecast is also quite nice! Airplay has been really simple to use as well. Also just to note, this doesn't have a microphone where you can ask Alexa or say Hey Google to get it to work, just in case you were wondering. Overall, a great soundbar that is expensive. I would recommend on the stipulation that it is on sale and you have the space for this. Remember that this soundbar can only be paired with the few rear speakers and subwoofers that Sony offers if you want to expand the sound in the future.

I want to quantify this review by first saying that I'm an audio nut with a keen ear for high quality sound. I'm not an "audiophile" - but I would consider myself very close in my picky pursuit of audio perfection. My wife and friends are weirded out by how much clear audio matters to me at times. My Sony experience started with the Sony x900h television and Sony HT-NT5 soundbar and SRS-SW5 surround speakers since we purchased them new in 2017. The set has been amazing together with the exception of occasional drop outs of the rear speakers which were fairly easily rectified by power-cycling the speakers. Aside from some a few relatively minor annoyances, I've been impressed with the Sony gear since purchase. Fast forward to 2021.... my how things have changed over the years with soundbars! They have so vastly improved it seems that these top-end models can trade punches with a fully separate speaker system and receiver - with no wires and 1000x more convenience. This Sony flagship is no exception - crystal clear sound that envelops you from all angles. I am also using the 300w sub, and the rear channel surrounds which all connect through Bluetooth to the soundbar flawlessly and with zero delay/lag. Through my search for the 2021 purchase I looked at countless reviews online and listened to nearly ALL of the newest flagship soundbar set options available... Sonos Arc/sub/rears, LG meridian, JBL, Senheiser, Bose... In my opinion none of them sound as good or have the premium options as the Sony HT-A7000, sub, and rears. In fact.... I own and have been comparing the closest setup to the Sony - the Samsung q950a surround system.... I've decided today the Samsung is going back. Even for nearly $1,000 more for the Sony set - I think its that much better and am keeping the Sony. This stuff is expensive, very expensive... The fact that there is no included subwoofer or rears stings as the price is upwards of $2.5k after taxes for all 3.... but I can honestly say its THAT much better than all of the competition. Don't think twice. Go buy it and basque in the Atmos glory!

Sound connectivity and BB: CS and open box policy

TL;DR: Good sound, connectivity with TV and speakers can be an issue, open box policy and store communication is questionable. I purchased this as an open box item (excellent condition) from the store. This will be a 2-part review. 1st the sound bar. I replaced my HT-A5000 soundbar that got stuck on the hello screen and was told there was no fix. Connecting the Soundbar was pretty straight forward. The HT-A7000 sounds much better the HT-A5000. I have it paired with the subwoofer and rear surrounds. I like the immersive feel of the soundbar when I have sound. However, after a month, I am having sound issues. Speakers and soundbar show that they are on, but no sound is being produced. After changing inputs multiple times, I can get it connected. I have gone in checked the settings and speakers showed they are all connected. . 2nd review is BB open box and customer service. I got a good price on the open box item, but it was not in excellent condition. Had small dent on it, missing remote and HDMI cord. Price still made it worth a risk, but beware of BB open box sales as how they rate the quality is not usually accurate. I called the BB customer service line, which told me since I purchased this in-store there was nothing they could do about the missing pieces, and I needed to talk to the store. Apparently, you cannot call the store. When you call the store number you are routed back to an outsourced call center, who will not provide a direct line to the store. You are forced to drive to the store to talk to the managers to try to resolve. The first trip back they confirmed they did not have the remote, which is an important piece you need to set up the soundbar. Fortunately, the remote to the HT-A5000 worked with the HT-A7000 soundbar. I got back home and looked up the definition of excellent, good and fair, and my soundbar fit in the category of fair. After a second trip back to the store they reduced it to good condition and gave me back the difference in price between excellent and good, which I did appreciate but still did not meet their own definitions. It makes me question if I should ever buy and open box product from BB, and with no way to communicate with the store other than in person if I should continue to do business with the store.

Hi GregH, Thank you for your detailed review and for sharing your experience with the HT-A7000 soundbar. We appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear about the issues you've encountered. Regarding the sound issues, it sounds like there might be a connectivity problem. Here are a few troubleshooting steps that might help:

Power Reset: Try performing a power reset on your soundbar and TV. Turn off the devices, unplug the power cords for a couple of minutes, and then plug them back in and turn them on.
Check Connections: Ensure that all cables are securely connected. Sometimes, a loose connection can cause intermittent sound issues.
Update Firmware: Make sure that your soundbar and TV have the latest firmware updates installed. Firmware updates can often resolve connectivity and performance issues.
Input Settings: Try changing the input settings on your TV and soundbar. Sometimes, switching between inputs can help re-establish the connection.
Network Issues: If you are using Wi-Fi, ensure that your router is close to the soundbar and there are no obstructions. Interference from other wireless devices can also cause connectivity issues.
For the issues with the open box purchase and customer service, we apologize for the inconvenience you faced. It's disappointing to hear that the item was not in the condition described and that the communication with the store was challenging. We recommend reaching out to the store management directly to express your concerns and seek a resolution.

After many reviews and videos and comparing online and even 2 visits to my local Best Buy, I pulled the trigger on the Sony HT-A7000 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos sound bar. Despite the somewhat hefty price , I decided to go with a Name I already trust and I did not get disappointed. This sound bar I replacing and aged non Atmos vizio sound bar with surround and the difference is night and day. I added this beautifully designed and might heavy to my 75” Sony Bravia XR tv. Amazing addition. Just the sound bar by itself created a different sound environment by making sound bounce off my 9’ high ceilings. No regrets on my purchase

Great sound bar. Can get extremely loud without distortion the Atmos effects are decent, but really needs the SRS5 rears to be good. Bass is good for standalone sound bar quality, but paired with SWA5 really knocks it out of the park. I ultimately exchanged this for the HT-A9 System because I found it open box in like new condition. Had I not, I would've been perfectly happy with the system for the foreseeable future!

Hi GarrettE, we're glad you are enjoying your new Sony unit. We hope that between some of our premium audio technologies such as Vertical Surround Engine and S-Force Pro Front Surround, you feel like you are not only in a sphere of sound, but inside the movie itself. To ensure that you are getting the most out of your HT-A7000, make sure to toggle on the "Immersive AE" remote button to upscale the entire audio systems' performance. Additionally, make sure to run Sound Field Optimization so that the soundbar can calibrate its performance to your environment, and that it sounds like it was engineered to be in your room. If you want to expand your audio system, please take a look at our optional subwoofer and rears accessories (SA-SW5,SA-SW3,SA-RS3S). Thank you for choosing Sony! ~Earl Sony_US

This sound bar i bought on recommendation with my new OLED. I have high ceilings and it does ok. Actually i should preface to say i actually was delivered an HT-A5000 by mistake and used that for a few days before getting a swap for the HT-A7000. I really studied the reviews on the Sony sound bars. They were very accurate reviews, the 7000 has a more clear sound image were as the 5000 is bass heavy. In hindsight If doing this over I would have held onto the 5000. For action tracks it was boomier and i like that in a movie. But for music, the 7000 is amazing. Perhaps if Sony reads these reviews they could give us better control of midrange and bass via a software update? Having said all that, if i did the purchase over i would probably have stuck with the LG SJ9 that this replaced. It still is better sounding to the type of content i watch most frequently. I am not bad mouthing the 7000 at all, it performs... I just have to use considerably more volume level to match what i already had in place. I also liked visual reference that i was on Atmos, that is petty i understand, but it's also pretty basic to hit a button to see what the speaker is decoding/outputting, and the Sony seems to lack geek features that I admit the average person probably doesn't care about.

I have had several very expensive AVRs from brands such as Sony, Onkyo, and Denon with speakers from Sony, Bose, and Def tech over the years with wires running around the floor. The HT-A7000 with surround speakers and sub does sound better than any of the other setups I have had and cost about the same with the bonus of true wireless surround speakers. The sound bar has a pretty decent GUI to navigate onscreen although not as robust as my previous AVRs. It also has fantastic sound calibration setup software compared to Audyssey and without the use of a wired microphone. If you are looking for a sound bar with 2 Hdmi 2.1 inputs that supports Dolby Vision and has true wireless rear up firing speakers that can run off internal batteries this is as of right now the only option I know about. If you do not need the above options you might be better off spending less on another brand. I purchased the HT-A7000 sound bar, SA-RS5 rear speakers, and the SA-SW5 sub together with a discounted price of $2,299.97. A month later after intense testing I am still very happy with the purchase. If you plan to only stream movies you will probably be disappointed with what the major streaming services call Dolby Atmos. I would not recommend spending this much on a sound bar to stream movies. Do yourself a favor and get a 4k blu ray player. There is a huge difference in sound quality when using a 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray Disc player vs streaming especially on 4K movies that use Dolby Atmos or DTS:X. I tested the sound bar without the surrounds and sub and it does a fantastic job with virtual surround by itself if you sit no more the 7 feet from it. Any further than 8 feet you will definitely want to add rear surrounds and a sub. The dialogue is loud and clear and the surrounds do a fantastic job of only producing sound that should be in the rear. The sub fills my 15’X18’ living room with massive bass. There is NO Ethernet port and you must use wifi or usb to update the firmware and cast music to the bar. (Negative one star for whoever at Sony didn’t believe this MSRP of $1400 sound bar didn’t need an Ethernet port)

Good overall sound. Really does need the companion subwoofer to go with this unit to fill out music and movie soundtracks. For the price though, it's incredibly difficult to get this feature set and therefore makes this unit a solid buy. I replaced a Bose 900 soundbar with this and the Sony is definitely a fuller if not quite as engaging sound as the Bose. It was the ease of use that did it for me though. Paired with a Bravia TV OLED this is beaten by a dedicated receiver-based sound system. In my case, this is mounted above a fireplace in an odd-shaped room so this was a perfect fit.

I was skeptical. I have high end components and going to a soundbar wasnt even a thought. Until i came across this Sony Hta7000 soundbar at an incredible discount. I reluctantly hooked it up..very easy set up. Turned it on and was impressed. Decided to give it the best set up.. I was still resisting. So i bought the SW5sub and Rs5 surrounds. WOW WOW!!! Seriously impressive with music and especially tv shows! This set up dilivers impressively!! And wife is very happy. My old system….I relocated my B&W sides, center and Sub, Receiver and wires upstairs.

Super powerful sound, enough to use by itself in a small to medium room. The sound is room filling and the channel separation is very noticeable. I haven't been wowed with the atmos sound feature, but since I bought it heavily discounted, I really cant complain. So far its a great purchase that makes watching movies a total delight. The only cons I can think of is that is VERY heavy and the remote feels cheaply made for a premium soundbar.

Sony is versatile and so it this A7000 soundbar. i have a Hisense TV which has terrible sound output. The addition of this sound bar brought clarity in dialogues and does a good enough job with it’s integrated subwoofer. There is a lot you can get out of this product with it’s varied connectivity options (alexa, Chromecast, BT) that are not std in the sonos arc. This would be perfect if I could add sony sub woofers to pair them with soundbar but I am good without it in my current apartment setup. I got a great open-box deal so that made this worth the money.
