    GREAT Soundbar

The HT-A7000 is a wonderful soundbar. It has a lot of features that give it a lot of bang for the buck. We paired the soundbar and its associated subwoofer to our three-year-old Sony XBR-65A9G in our bedroom. While the built in speakers of the TV work fairly well, the enhancement to sound from the soundbar/subwoofer is impressive. Setup was very easy given that we were pairing with a high-end Sony TV. From in the box to fully functional took less than 15 minutes. All of the wiring for ourTV was installed in-wall for our Sony 4k Bluray, cable box, 4k Roku box, and Sennheiser wireless headphone. At first, I thought I would have to pull another HDMI cable through the wall for the soundbar. But, all I had to was disconnect the Bluray player from the TV, connect its HDMI cable to the soundbar, and connect the Bluray to one of the inputs on the soundbar. Slick! The TV, soundbar, and Bluray said hello to each other without a hitch. The only thing we could not do with the soundbar was hookup our Sony TV using its internal speakers as the center channel. That is a feature on the newest Sony TVs, but not on our three-year-old model. The center channel of the soundbar works great though; and I have no complaints on that point. It could be said that this high-end soundbar is overkill for a bedroom TV; but I have no regrets. In many ways, the sound system in our bedroom rivals our theater system.

Soundbar sounds awesome for movies as well as music. Sound is clear can get to loud volumes. The soundbar has a really wide sound field and the volume can get LOUD. The built in Subwoofer is pretty good but I would recommend to either go for the sw3 or sw5 for that way punchier bass.

    Strong dialect performance

Great dialogue quality at high volumes. Returned a Samsung Q930B because when volume levels got high, dialogue quality went down. What I mean is when it’s turned up, it’s hard to discern what’s being said amongst all the sound effects. Vocals get replaced by sound effects at high volumes. The Sony has dialogue characteristic of a larger speaker. Vocals are strong, and pronounced, like I the theatre. Other sound bars don’t sound good. Listen to the voice of Dr. Strange through this bar and others. Simple task to distinguish sound quality. Dialect at high volumes was my main focus when purchasing a sound bar, took many tries, but finally nailed it. The built in subwoofers sound great in the medium/small bedroom. Bass is adequate and extends impressively into the low hz, sub sonic bass effect. No need for sub in my case. People who say built in subs are a mimic might be listening in a large room. But for an average bedroom, it’s perfect without a sub. Other bars sound very thin, specially at high volumes. I do believe there isn’t a sound bar that fits the bill of filling large living spaces, at least with quality sound. People expect too much at times out of these compact devices and should purchase equipment according to size of room/area they wish to fill With sound. Might have to go with an AVR with towers and surrounds to properly fill large areas.

so coming from a Bose 900 sound bar which was good however the Sony hta 7000 is even better. the sony has on board display so you can get into the settings even faster which is a great option because you don't have to rely on a app that disconnects itself what a pain in the neck lots of disconnecting issues. the sony sound bar is just better as a whole with immersive sound all around it has all the formats for decoding all the latest movie formats..a couple of tips go into advanced settings and turn off DRC control this shuts off sound compression it limits the sound and another thing is auto value level turn this off as well yes we know all stations have different volume levels however when watching discs it seems that it messes with it a bit. also if you have a large mp3 storage or flash drive of music when it comes to DSEE leave this feature on it helps with sound quality for files. it also has voice mode for better dialouge etc etc. this were it gets a little tricky if you want full sound buy the sub saw5 and the rears sars5 and you will be in for a real treat. remember earc and arc are two different things for full atmos you must have the full set up and earc connection all the way around arc gives you light atmos like say older samsung tvs 2018 or higher models..the list is on and on Sony hit it out of the park with this one thanks guys And of course BB for having it in stock when i purchased this sound bar i am really impressed with this one i just wish it had a EQ for me to tweak the settings better for music don't get me wrong it still sounds awesome and i am very happy with this purchase...

This soundbar will definitely deliver. Watching movies in dolby vision + atmos with this soundbar is mind blowing. Overall one of the better soundbars I have tried. Currently own the bose 900 to compare it to and this hands down blows it away. My take is it is ment for a bigger room like your living room. It is a big soundbar. The sound correction is nice. The soundbar overall is easy to set up and use.

**Review: Sony 7.1 Channel Soundbar** I recently purchased the Sony 7.1 Channel Soundbar after testing and returning several others, and I must say, this is one of the best soundbars on the market. The clarity of sound is unparalleled, and the 7.1 channel setup ensures a rich and immersive audio experience. The crystal-clear sound and powerful subwoofer make it perfect for both music and movies, providing a seamless synchronization between picture and sound. Sony has truly outdone itself with this soundbar, delivering an exceptional auditory experience. Certain brands consistently deliver quality, and Sony is one of them. I highly recommend this soundbar to anyone who values superior sound quality and wants to enhance their entertainment experience.

I bought this sound bar to pair with my 77 inch Sony XR. The ability to use the XR as a center channel adds a nice bit of height to the soundstage. Paired the sw5 sub and it performs well for everyday use and pretty well for movie night too. A lot of features to help you customize the sound if you are an audiophile, but the auto setup does a pretty good job by itself. I did not add the surround speakers as the setup is in our open family room. Sound is powerful and crisp even though the sound bar is positioned on our mantle, a couple feet above seated height. Even without the surround speakers the sound bar does a pretty good job with simulated surround with Atmos sources, mostly from the left and right, not from behind. One other tip, do not pass on the subwoofer, the added depth to music and the effects to movies make all the difference. The interface to a Sony XR is also seamless and the quick menu pops right up and is integrated with your other settings (eARC of course). I’m not sure this would have been my choice without a Sony TV, but if you own a compatible Sony, this is a great choice because of great integration, tv as center channel, and the great sound quality.

I went through three top of the line soundbars before I bought this one, they either had connectivity HDMI issues, or muddy speech sound. Im glad I finally got the Sony HT-A7000, Its has very crystal clear speech sound so Im able to understand what the actors, are saying in a movie. Great all around immersion sound, surround sound, night mode and Dolby Atmos. The SA-SW-3 wireless subwoofer pairing is seamless, I see no need to go for the bigger one, plenty of punch.

Upgraded from an HTST5000 which I loved, but always disappointed with due to the lack of rear speakers. I don't care how perfect a room is, you are not getting the rear without dedicated speakers. To get the most out of this soundbar, you must pair it with the rear speakers (SARS3S) and the sub (I went with the larger 300w SASW5). You will want to turn off DRC in the settings, and do not rely on the auto calibration, it is way too conservative. Do the manual adjustments yourself. You will also have to crank up the volume to the mid 40's maybe higher to really experience the soundbar come to life. Once you got all the adjustments done to your liking, it is impressive how immersive the soundstage feels. John Wick sounds incredible, and the overhead effects like rain and whatnot are better than the previous gen HTST5000. The addition of dedicated rears makes the immersion even better. Obviously, this setup will be lacking compared to a dedicated AV system, but for me, the low profile look, lack of cables and easy setup made it a straightforward compromise for me. That being said, it is disappointing the rears are not upfiring speakers for added atmos effects, I would have paid more of a premium for that option. Also the soundbar now has only 2 HDMI in ports down from 3. Overall, happy with the purchase, albeit it is definitely overpriced. I would consider the HT-A9's which are getting amazing reviews as a solid alternative.

Having always been a separate receiver person, I was skeptical on picking up this soundbar...even if it is Sony's flagship model. This is mostly due to having soundbars in past that were just "decent", but nowhere near the soundstage a dedicated setup can provide. Well, I have to say I was blown away at the HT-A7000. I purchased the soundbar along with the matching SA-SW5 sub and SA-RS5 rears. Wow, this thing can pump out the sound and sounds amazing (980 watts total with the sub and rears). For the first time I really wasn't bothered by not having the dedicated setup. Of course, your view may differ but this thing is amazing. Don't be put off by the price, especially if you are already looking at reviews for this soundbar. This is worth every penny. But, unless you can't place them anywhere, do yourself a favor and get the matching rears and sub. The HT-A7000 also has two extra HDMI inputs so you don't have to totally give up your eARC input on your TV. Future proof since they also pass 4K120 / 8K60. Altogether it is a matchup that can't be beat. Excellent, top shelf stuff here. Atmos is great on this too! Well done Sony.

Purchased this soundbar to pair with my A80J. Setup was fast and easy. Sound is great overall, though naturally without a dedicated subwoofer it won't be as rich as it can be. Surround effects are solid, though your milage may vary with atmos content depending on the sound mix, soundbar settings, and your home theater layout. I don't have any devices to pass through 4K/8K content through the soundbar so I can't speak on that functionality. I chose this soundbar specifically because of the integration with new Sony TVs. This soundbar has a GUI you can access on the tv which is super handy to change settings, and as previously mentioned setup was a breeze. I've also been using my A80J as the center channel speaker and personally I feel like it brings out voices in content more and is a pleasant addition. Overall I'm quite happy with purchasing this soundbar. It's expensive for what it is, but if you have a newer Sony TV I find the integration worth it.

I used to have a discreet 5.2.1 system with an Onkyo receiver, but living in an apartment meant that I couldn't use it even close to it's potential. I had to leave my bass channel one step above off. Add to that, the Atmos effects didn't really seem to do much. This bar along with the SA -RS5 rear speakers, completely blew me away. Yes, it's expensive, but it's sleek, sounds great, and has really good Atmos. Added bonus that it's wireless so I could get rid of all those wires. I wouldn't recommend this if you live in a house. Get a real system with a good subwoofer in that case. If you live in a apartment though, this has the perfect amount of bass (sometimes still too much) and I get the Atmos theater effect that I've been wanting.

Let me start off by stating the obvious, it's very expensive. And for the price of this stand alone soundbar, you can get a system in a box with satellite speakers and a sub from another manufacturer. Now on to the bar.. Excellent Excellent Excellent. This is the 1st soundbar that I've owned that successfully stimulates virtual surround. Just from running the test off the bar itself you can hear sound coming from all directions. The atmos effect isn't as noticeable and to be fair, my ceiling is a little higher than average. The remote control has a voice selection but I've yet to find myself using as the bar produces crystal clear sound. I also purchased the Sub (300W) along with it and it provides more than enough bass for any audio. I have people living under me so I keep the bass level at or around 4 which still produces deep rich lows. Coming from the Samsung N950 and the BOSE Soundtouch 300, this bar blows both of them out the water. You get what you pay for and this soundbar is in a class by itself. I'm already experiencing enveloping 360 sound without the rears, can only imagine when I do add them. I have an LG OLED so you don't need a Sony tv to maximize the full potential from this soundbar. If you can afford it, pull the trigger.

Excellent surround system when paired with optional subwoofer and rear speakers. I didn’t spend any time with it testing its sound without the extra units so my review is based on the entire package. I paired this bar with the SW5 subwoofer and RS5 rear speakers. The Dolby Atmos sphere sounds amazing and this system puts out plenty of bass. It won’t hit super low frequencies with much accuracy but that’s not its intended design. The highlights are eARC capability and the ability to tie into current Sony TVs so that the TV acts as the center channel. Also it has two HDMI inputs for your extra electronics and also will stream music from your phone or tablet.

I remember my old 5.1 system from 2009 sounding then then this soundbar, even when paired with the sw5 and the rears. Don’t get me wrong it’s sounds pretty good but nothing like separate components and It just seems overpriced for the quality of experience. It’s pretty good. Atmos movies can be enveloping and the sub integrates well, but like it said it doesn’t offer 2 grand worth of sound. I wouldn’t consider this without the sub because that is key. I’m keeping it and not upset but would feel better if the package of sub and rears was $1500.

The A7000 sound bar sounds great on its own. But the internal Subs only go down to 100hz, for lower you will need to add one of the wireless subwoofers the 200W or 300W. The set up was super easy. If you have any audio skips from any of the paired external speakers (SWs or rears), then allow the bar to optimize the pairing channels used and the issue should go away. If you do have all the external speakers, you will need to turn the 360 real audio on to get the full effect. The demo is very loud and I have not found a way to lower it. The bar does not have a LAN (RJ45) ethernet connection for us who would prefer a wired over Wi-Fi connection. The ARC/eARC HDMI connection is in a recessed box on back and would make using an AudioQuest Carbon 48 cable, which would be stiffer than the HDMI cable supplied difficult but the supplied cable works OK but seems a little thin. Would be better if all connection were on back of unit. 5 stars for sound quality, -.1 for connections; no wired ethernet available, and the recessed box for the ARC/eARC HDMI plug.

I purchased this soundbar along with a new Sony A80J TV. I wanted a low profile bar that employed Atmos sound processing. I also was intrigued with the new Sony feature that uses the TV speaker as the center channel. I previously was using a Yamaha soundbar that did surround, but not Atmos. This bar has proven to be a winner in all aspects as I use it. Sound from the TV syncs perfectly well, the center channel mode with the TV is great as well. The Atmos speakers and the surround processing is first rate. Only quibble is that I would have liked the soundbar to have a direct Ethernet connector but the Wi-Fi has proven to be robust enough. The profile height of a bit over 3" is perfect for me as it snuggles in front of, and below, the TV. The IR repeater function also works well to control the TV. This soundbar is pricey compared to much of the competition but to me well worth it. As with all soundbars, if you want this for audiophile grade music listening the results are "meh" at best. That is not what this product is designed for in my opinion. It would be OK for background music.

A great soundbar with stylish look and loaded firing speakers. Audio was clear and crisp. Much bigger in comparison to a Sonos arc. The only con I have is the inbuilt subwoofer which isn’t that great. I believe it will be great if you pair up the soundbar with Sony Subwoofer and rear satellite speakers.

I've had the A-7000 soundbar + Sub +Surround for about a month now. I watch primarily streaming 4K across all major platforms. Once you get the speaker placements dialed in, this creates a truly immersive cinematic performance (in a square, medium-sized living room. You need the separate bass. Period. The larger one. The surround does their job well (if a little underpowered) - but completes the setup. Atmos works fine for most - amazing for some, depending on the movie (think Guadian of the Galaxy or Infinity Wars). Dialogue is clear as a bell, the music sphere for movies is incredible, and when the bass shines, it's clear and will rumble you in your seat at the right times. I debated whether to turn this back end for a medium-end speaker set up which as a little more than the $2300 all in. At the end of the day, the sound quality and fun of watching movies on the A-7000 (+ sub and surround) trumped the utter hassle of a full-on 5.1/7.1 wired system. It's expensive, but with the bass and surround, I find it to be a good value for performance deal.
