Movie night never sounded so good! This is our first soundbar, so our basis for comparison is just the regular TV audio. It blows that away! Setup was super easy. The sound is best with movies where more attention is paid to the audio. We've also used it to stream music, but it isn't quite as good as our bluetooth speaker for that.

I was surprised by how much I like this sound bar! For starters, it's not massive so it fit perfectly on my average size TV stand/shelf. It's about 32 inches long and 5 inches wide. Plus, the design is very sleek and modern. Setting it up was pretty easy. There's a QR code in the box that you can scan with your phones camera and it will send you straight to the app store to download the required app for the sound bar. It pretty much guides you from there. Connecting it to my TV was simple as well. You plug one end of the included HDMI cord into the sound bar, plug the other end of the cord into the eARC enabled HDMI port on your TV, change some settings on your TV and it's good to go. It was one of the better experiences I've had setting something up. It comes with a remote control, but once I had it all set up it worked with my regular TV remote control which is great; I'm not a fan of cluttered counter tops haha. The volume up/down function has a bit of a lag to it but it's not severe. The sound quality is amazing! Prior to having the sound bar I usually had to rewind movie scenes or turn subtitles on because I couldn't hear the actors speak over loud music or the special effect sounds. It was so frustrating. However, this sound bar has the option to focus on voices rather than the music/special effects. It is an amazing improvement and it's the one I was looking forward to the most. It has other features like controlling the bass level and surround sound which I found great for music. Overall, I'd say this is a great product and it will definitely improve your binge-a-thons!

I really wanted to love this Sony soundbar as I have had good to great experiences with Sony products in the past from soundbars to Bluetooth speakers and buds. But, the Sony HT-S2000 left me wanting more or just left me. To be honest, I didn’t want to leave a subpar review because the sound is very pleasing and the form factor and build is exceptional for a standalone sound bar. I’m going to leave the specs to the paperwork and packaging that’s included because I want to give the most honest review for the actual usage and performance of this pretty pricey soundbar. Now of course this is personal opinion but it may matter to some wanting to invest in Sony. Opening the box, of course you get the sounbar, hefty and quality built, power adapter, remote with two batteries and hdmi cable with all the regulatory documents, warranty, quick setup and wall template… that’s it. No mounting screws which was disappointing, no clear instructions and a very conspicuous QR code on the paperwork needed to download the Sony Home Theatre App. I was searching for this mentioned app from the paperwork forever in different app stores and unsuccessful links. Finally after finding the QR code and downloading the app I could actually get a real feel for what this soundbar was capable of. Now let me back up real quick, the reason I sound kind of despondent is because I was expecting this Sony soundbar to be plug and play ready which to some degree it is. But, I plugged it in connected the arc hdmi connections and powered up the sounbar…. It took an extended amount of time for this thing to register my tv and start playing sound. It just kept displaying “Please Wait” with a blinking blue led. Ok, so I’m waiting for about 15-20 seconds before any action. Once the soundbar connected and sent out the great spectrum of lows and highs with clear voice from my tv I was impressed as I thought I would be from a Sony product. Now a speed bump, I start adjusting the volume with my tv remote and the sound cuts out as I change the volume level and then takes a second and starts producing great sounds again. So I think that it may be interference from my tv remote so I try the included remote and same thing happens. It starts to become really annoying having the sound cut out when I’m trying to adjust to get the desired level. Ok, Bluetooth test… and yes, quick connect to iphone seamlessly and great sounds! I adjust the volume with my phone volume rocker and with the included remote, no interruption so I’m happy. This soundbar produces full range of pleasurable lows, mids, highs, in a cinematic setting good for a small home theatre. From the online specs and accessories you can pair with satellite rear speakers and subwoofer that I am sure will increase the already great sounds produced from this soundbar. I am just not sure of the price point for this setup. But if you are looking for powerful output in a small form factor, this Sony soundbar gets super loud, well enough for any small to large living room setting. I do like the fact that it is easily wall mountable with an included wall template for the screw placement, but for the price, you would think the mounting hardware would be included, it’s not. Now the Sony Home Theatre Connect app, it’s not easily found on app stores, you have to go to the website if you find the correct link, but there is a QR code randomly placed on the quick setup paperwork. I wish I would have found this and downloaded the app first because it made it so much easier a straightforward when setting up. The app is nice and includes all the fine tuning settings you will need to get your desired sound as the included remote just has basic controls. The app also allows you to use your phone as a remote and control Bluetooth playlists. Overall, this soundbar is built very nice, produces full range of sound with ample volume, it just has a few hiccups with sound adjustment that hinders a five star review. Primarily the volume adjustment that gets interrupted when changing levels while watching v. I cant seem to figure this out yet and not sure if it is a compatibility issue with my tv brand or what…

I'll admit, when I first unboxed this speaker I thought it would may not be enough sound for the room. Let me tell you looks are very deceiving. First the basics. Set up took literally a few minutes. It comes with an HDMI cable also. Scan the QR code on the set up guide and the self install is on its way. Also comes with a remote control for added convenience. Also has the ability to connect via digital optical cable. The speaker is perfect for a medium to small room. You can purchase separately, the surround speakers if so desired. Now for the good stuff. This speaker on its own is a winner! The Dolby Atmos fills the room. The engineering on this is outstanding. Sound is crisp and you can absolutely hear the sounds as if they are around you and even above you. For a 3.1 channel speaker this does the job and more. You can really hear and see the 360 audio anx SForce Pro front surround functions of the speaker. You can wall mount it or simply put it on top of your entertainment center etc. This rivals the other big name brands hands down. Definitely recommend!

This Sony HT-S2000 3.1ch Dolby Atmos sound bar has been a great addition to our home theater. We have had an older wired 7.1 system for years and decided after some of the speakers died, we would try a sound bar. This was definitely a good choice for us as we already own a Sony Bravia 4k tv, so set up was super easy. Sony has included an HDMI cable with the sound bar packaging, so you’re good to get started right from the box. Use the QR code in the instructions to download the Sony Entertainment app, that will enable you to tweak the sound bar to your specific taste. Total set up from unboxing to use took around 15 mins for us to do, which is great when you want to relax and enjoy watching your favorite shows or movies! I’m quite happy with this Sony HT-S2000 3.1ch Dolby Atmos sound bar for sure, the sound quality is fantastic! When watching TV or movies we turn the sound field on, which gives you that fill the room surround sound theater type experience. (Sony does offer additional Bluetooth rear speakers as well as additional subwoofers, which we do not currently have in our set up.) When listening to music as a Bluetooth speaker, I turn the sound field off, as I do not care for the extra echo effects I hear in the vocals. The sound bar as a Bluetooth speaker isn’t my favorite, as I have had some connectivity issues with my phone only being 8 feet away. (The sound quality is great with music, it just glitches a bit too much for my liking). The Sony HT-S2000 3.1ch Dolby Atmos sound bar is a great addition to my tv and movie watching experience. Definitely easier to hear dialogue through the sound bar over the TV speakers, and I personally enjoy the sound quality! This is a great sound bar for anyone looking to improve hearing your TV, glad to have it in the collection.

When it comes to home theater equipment I’m a huge fan of the K.I.S.S principal. Keep It Simple Stupid. This sound bar meets that requirement perfectly. The end result of the simple connect-and-go method allows me to lose myself in the glory of 3.1 surround sound without having to fiddle with all the audio controls that home theater receivers have. Not to mention the only wires required are a power cord and an HDMI cable. Simple. I love it. I think 3.1 surround is the perfect audio balance for smaller rooms. Sony recommends pairing this sound bar with the SA-RS3S rear wireless speakers and either an SA-SW3 or SA-SW5 wireless subwoofer for the complete audio experience. These extra speakers are also wireless making them easy to add to the setup, but I found that even without these extra speakers the sound quality is excellent. The physical design is simple enough to not draw attention to itself, exactly what a sound bar should do, but the LED’s used to illustrate volume changes or input changes are large and bright enough to be easily seen when they are used and they quickly dim when not actively being adjusted so they remain invisible for most of the time. Overall Sony has done a great job with this sound bar and I recommend it for those looking to upgrade their TV viewing experience.

    Great Sound Easy Set Up

I like good sound everywhere in my home but don't have the budget to install 5.1 surround in every room. The bedroom was next on my list and this sound bar more than meets our needs. Set up was super easy I use the optical in as my TV is a little older and that is what I had for cables. Set up was just about that straight forward. Plug in power then the source and you are off and running. Also, with Bluetooth connectivity I can use it with my phone and computer easily too. As for sound, I am very happy. Full rich music, clear voice, full bass - very well rounded sound. We are in the process of watching one of those music competition shows and adding this has made the experience even more enjoyable. Movies sound great as well. All in all, this is way more than just a compromise for a second sound system. This also is compatible with Sony subwoofers (SA-SW3 and SA-SW5) and rear speaker set (SA-RS3S), the design is said to expand the listening experience they will automatically pair to the HT-S2000 once they are powered on. As nice as this sounds as a stand alone unit, I can only imagine how nice it would work the the extra speakers. Something to think about for the future which makes this expandable.

    An Overpriced TV Speaker

I was excited to test this soundbar because I’m a Sony fan but I was let down. It’s a 3.1-channel with an onboard subwoofer which means there are three dedicated channel, including a center channel. The soundbar is able to decode Dolby Atmos and DTS:X almost every home theater audio codec. However, it uses virtual processing to simulate surround and height information so it’s down-mixing 7.1, 5.1, etc. and outputs a virtual surround sound effect. The dialogue is clear and accurate. The sound is mostly balanced. It is definitely an improvement to most built-in TV speakers. Music sounds pretty good. Though the soundstage is small. Movie and TV audio does not envelope you. I did not hear any effects above or around me. All audio sounds like it's coming from speakers directly in front of you instead of “surrounding” you. The overall bass is not good but that’s expected and sub-base is almost nonexistent. You can purchase separate rear wireless satellite speakers and a separate subwoofer. I don’t see that as an option because a person purchasing probably doesn’t have the room or would want all that equipment if they’re purchasing a small soundbar. The soundbar alone is okay for a small room or if you live in an apartment. I wouldn’t buy it though. It’s way too expensive and other soundbars at this price offer more options, features, and better overall sound with a sub. The major disappointment is obviously the cost. The only available connections on the HT-S2000 are a single eARC HDMI, an S/DPIF optical, and Bluetooth. There’s no Wi-Fi capabilities and you can’t adjust most of the settings without a Sony app (connects through Bluetooth). Even though it supports tons of codecs the majority of the codecs are only supported via eARC not ARC. I would look elsewhere.

Sony HT-2000S 3.1 Channel Dolby Atmos Soundbar

Sony HT-2000S 3.1 Channel Dolby Atmos Soundbar really nice Pros - Sound is great. I purchased the SA-SW3 200W wireless subwoofer to go along with this soundbar. The sound from Jurassaic Park's latest movie was amazing. Shook the room and felt very real. Easy to connect - Press the link button on the subwoofer and it connected without any troubleshooting or having to go back and forth to get it to connect. Quality - Build quality is very good. I like the speaker styling. it looks very sophisticated and feels very nice. I sat the subwoofer on the floor about 10 feet from the TV and soundbar. The sound from the soundbar itself is full and rich. The Dolby atmos kicked in instantly and I felt very immersed in the sound coming from both the soundbar and the woofer. Recommendations: I would highly recommend this soundbar, but definitely purchase a sony subwoofer to go with it. You won't be sorry, the price is awesome and the subwoofer is priced nicely as well. Definitely stop reading this review and go get one, you won't be sorry.

Out of the box, I found this sound bar to have a balanced and clear sound with good volume. I tested it first with music via Bluetooth and received plush and crisp music reproduction. But this is being marketed as a sound bar and NOT as a large Bluetooth speaker. As a sound bar, this item alone is a disappointment. Here are my complaints: (1) If you are considering this unit to support a wall television unit, be aware that the width of this bar is less than 32". Under my 65", albeit diagonal, TV, the stereo part of the sound production is much less wide than my TV and sound placement relative to the video placement can be confusing (and occasionally jarring). Sound quality is an improvement but the overall experience isn't worth it. (2) For sound production alone, this bar is being marketed as a stereo + center + subwoofer experience - 3.1. The tiny bass producing speakers are an embarrassment to the ".1" part of the designation. The narrow width of the bar doesn't really help with the actual experience of stereophonic effects. And because there is no powerful bass support from these speakers, even the slightest background noises can overwhelm any bass experiences this unit can support. (3) This sound bar comes equipped with a surround sound imaging "thing" that promises an engine of surround sound (also promises an s-force pro front surround). Neither of these two things is a real thing. The bar can, in an appropriate mode, create spatial illusions by directing sound but I haven't been able to create a non-annoying aural environment from any source. The only curious spatial effects I noticed were in sparse environments (my garage) and not in fluffier rooms. Sony has produced, at best, a solid bar with only rudimentary sound. Overall, the best sound from this bar was in my garage - an unfurnished room with no carpeting. At low volumes, the sound can be very nice, but the tiny bass speakers cannot carry a quality sound experience - and even low-level background noise can interrupt what little bass response is audible. Alas, this system is expandable with a separate powered subwoofer and with wireless little true surround speakers that pair with this bar. They would sure enhance my experience with this bar. But the price for this unit should guarantee a better sound without these pricy peripherals.

This Sony Soundbar came out at the perfect time for me to review. I had just finished setting up a projector in my basement and was looking for an adequate sound system. As anyone with a projector knows, they may have speakers, but their speakers are essentially pointless. Using the HDMI ARC connection and the Sony Home Entertainment App, I was up and running in no time. Set up takes minimal effort, which is both good and bad. You can either set up just the soundbar, or marry it to surround speakers and/or a subwoofer. Not many other options are available to adjusting. After setup, I immediately began streaming some high resolution music videos and pretty involved movie scenes. First thing I noticed...something was missing. The sound was there, but the depth just wasn't. There was bass, but not enough. There was elevation, but not enough. This soundbar is not a solo artist. It needs the surround speakers singing backup and the subwoofer playing...well...bass. I would not buy this speaker by itself. I am actually currently looking into adding the wireless surround speakers and subwoofer. Does that mean that this speaker isn't a good speaker? Not entirely. However I have become an audio snob as I have aged, and for me, unfortunately this speaker does not measure up by itself.
