Sony thought of everything with this soundbar.
This is sturdy, with good weight to it, approx. 31” L and 3” H. This is the 3rd soundbar I’ve owned, and with just this one item, Sony has accomplished so much. It has dual subwoofers, 1 on each end, and 3 front speakers. I believe the middle of the 3 speakers in front, is specifically for dialogue.
The back has 2 spots in case you wanted to mount the sound bar on the wall (see pic). See I told you they thought of everything. The power cable connects into the back of the unit at an angle, as well as the HDMI OUT (eArc/ARC), and TV IN (Optical). (see pic) This is so the cords do not get smashed up against the wall if you decide to mount it. It can stay nice and flush that way.
SUPER simple and fast to get everything started up. Plug it in to your power source, then all you need is one HDMI cable which is provided. There is an optical TV IN option as aforementioned, more than likely there in case your TV does not have an (eARC/ARC) HDMI port. I have a sony tv, and it has the eARC port. I would hope most newer tvs have the eARC/ARC HDMI port. Def worth checking out to make sure your tv has this too. This (eARC/ARC) port, allows you to use other devices, hooked up to the HDMI ports on your TV, while sending the audio out the soundbar at the same time. As stated already, I’d say maybe 5 minutes tops once all connections are made, to get great sound.
This soundbar does not have WiFi built in, but there’s no need in my opinion. It has Bluetooth built in, and just like everything on this product, it’s super fast!
You turn on the power, and the screen scrolls a message. . .PLEASE WAIT. The wait is not even 15 seconds before everything is good to go. I’ll take that wait any day! From there you can connect via TV input, or Bluetooth. Remote has nice options (see pic).
INPUT : changes the input selection on the TV
SOUND FIELD: lessens the acoustics when off
VOICE: lessens the voice audio when off
BASS: 3 levels, MIN-MED-MAX
NIGHT: so you don’t blast your family members to outer space if watching late at night, honestly if you’re getting a soundbar of this caliber, when are you going to need this button lol
The Sony Home Entertainment App allows you to use your phone as a remote in case the couch swallows your remote, or the batteries die and you don’t feel like making a trip to the store. (takes 2 AAA’s btw)
To prove even further that Sony thought of everything, you can purchase extra speakers to place around the room:
subwoofers (SA-SW3 and SA-SW5) and rear speaker set (SA-RS3S) (sold separately) I think these are wireless too!
Conclusion: if you want a soundbar that is a well designed, well rounded product, with absolutely theater quality sound, and so easy to set up and use, that your Baby-Boomer parents or grandparents could do it, look no further. There’s no downside here.

Hi MelissaF,
Thank you for the review. We're glad to hear that you like the sound quality and had an easy time setting up the soundbar. When the source does not contain much of bass sound, as is the case with most TV programs, the bass sound may not be audible. Check this article on how to resolve your issue.

With today's TVs, onboard speakers tend to not be the best so having a capable soundbar to pair with your television is critical. This new model from Sony is a fantastic option.
Pros:
- The sound quality is top-notch. Base levels were strong, even without a subwoofer. You can pair a wireless subwoofer with this model if you wish, sold separately. Dolby ATMOS brings your viewing experience to life as you get a full "3D" surround sound experience.
- The remote was comfortable and well-sized. Having multiple listening modes comes in handy, with voice mode making it easier to listen to dialog. Toggling to Bluetooth was simple and worked well. Music audio quality was fantastic.
- The soundbar is designed in a way that allows it to sit nicely in your entertainment nook, or to be mounted on a wall if you wish. A wall mount template is included if you decide to go this route.
- Make sure your TV has eARC capability, as this will allow your HDMI connection (cable included) to transmit your audio signal perfectly without any quality loss. An optical connection can also be used.
Cons:
- This soundbar is a little on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. You can never go wrong with Sony audio products.
If this soundbar is within your budget, definitely give it consideration. It's the best one I have ever used.

Sony Delivers Rich Spatial Audio

The Sony HT-S2000 is a soundbar that takes aim at similar offerings from Sonos and Boss, and more than stood its ground. The soundbar impressed me with its sound range and ease of use. Whether connected to the eARC on my TV or connected via Bluetooth, the sound quality was always top notch. Audio was clear and rich enough to fool my dog into thinking he needed to spring into action and defend me. Spatial audio surprised me. Dolby Atmos effects worked well. Add to this speaker the ability to pair a wireless subwoofer and rear channel speakers, and Sony has a winner.
Setup: Inside the box, Sony includes the AC adapter, the speaker, a remote, mounting documentation, and a high-speed HDMI cable. I really appreciate having the HDMI cable included. The AC adapter will not take up more than one space on your power strip.
I plugged my speaker into the eARC port on my TV and set up was truly plug-in play. The television remote controls the volume on the soundbar.
TIP: When given the option, I do not recommend having the TV decode the audio. On my TV, having the TV decode the audio created stutters and lag in video playback. Instead, put the audio in passthrough and let the soundbar do the heavy lifting. That’s what you got it for.
Experience: As previously noted, audio sounds great. The bass has a surprising amount of punch to it. There’s depth to the audio. Spatial audio works well and did an excellent job tricking my ears. The speaker can simulate Atmos and DTS-X effects. However, you will need to make sure “Sound Field” is enabled for that feature to fully work.
I recommend that you download the Sony Home Entertainment app from the Google Play or Apple App Store to get the most out of your speaker. Most features are also included on the bundled remote control. But I liked the app because it did give me an indicator of the source audio quality. The speaker itself will only show a small amount of text, but the app will show for instance if your source audio is Dolby Atmos, Dolby 5.1, or DTS-X.
I only have a few nitpicks. I like that the speaker has a “nighttime” mode, but I must enable that setting each time I turn the speaker on. I wish the speaker remembered my setting after powering back on from standby. The other settings are saved such as sound field and voice enhancer, but not nighttime mode. But, again, that really is just a nitpick.
Conclusion: I really like this speaker. It sounds great. Most flat screen TVs have awful audio. While I will always love having a receiver and individual speakers, soundbars like the Sony HT-S2000 are slowly converting me. This speaker is simple to use, and it sounds great. I know that audio quality is subjective, but my wife and I are extremely impressed with this speaker. Hopefully, I can add the rear channel speakers and the wireless subwoofer at some point.

Terrific sound in a small package

This is a terrific sounding soundbar. But to unlock it's full potential, you'll want to consider investing in the separate purchases of a sub and rear speaker (which I don't yet have, but am considering). But know that there's some quirks. It's not truly plug and play unless you own a new Sony TV. I have a several year old model and struggled to get it to work ultimately having to use an optical cable vs HDMI Arc. Maybe it's user error, but my old Samsung sound bar worked using the same HDMI cable and ARC port.
IN THE BOX
First, I want to give Sony props for the eco friendly packaging. It may not matter to most, but the box was easy to open and had no plastic. But onto to what’s inside. You get the soundbar, remote with 2 AAA batteries, HDMI cable, and charging cord (which is a small brick). I wish the power cable and HDMi cable were a bit longer, but those are minor problems for a small subset of people.
SETUP
I think it's important to mention my setup. Basically, I need a sound solution for two spaces, one my living room TV (which is a 2014 model Sony TV) and my basement projector room (intended for video games, so don't knock me for "only" using a sound bar). My living room TV utilized an older model Samsung soundbar with built in sub. I wanted to put that in my theater room. But I couldn't get the S2000 to work with my living room Sony TV.
While I gave Sony props for their packaging they could have done better with instructions. I figured there was an app to control the settings of this sound bar, but I couldn't figure out what it was without a Googlw search. Eventually I downloaded the Home Entertainment app. The app helped me quickly find and connect the soundbar. But it was no help with getting audio from my TV. More on the app shortly.
DESIGN
I have a picture of the S2000 compared to my old Samsung sound bar and I love the size of the Sony model. It's much smaller with just as much of a lunch. It has a small display but it's all you need. I'm disappointed in the single HDMI port. As an ARC soundbar the choice to have one HDMI port makes sense, but I wish it had more. There's an optical sound port which gave me sound but at that point I would habe liked to have extra HDMI ports for my other devices (Chromecast and Switch).
At bottom you have a smart looking, compact soundbar that punches above it's weight in terms of sound volume and quality. But there's a limited number of ports which is a double edged sword.
SOUND QUALITY
Continuing with my journey, I ultimately decided to keep the Samsung sound bar where it was (don't fix what's not broken) and use my new soundbar with my projector. While I got the sound to work with my projector it required some workarounds. My projector doesn't have ARC and the limited HDMI ports creates problems.
But as I said I got the sound to work. I started watching Top Gun. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it sounded. while it wasn't perfect surround sound, which I didn't suspect, you could definitely hear sounds coming from above you. I wish I had a sub to really feel the jets, it was definitely serviceable and frankly, more than what the average person would expect. It's not going to replace true 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound but it's pretty darn good. And if you were to add the wireless speakers sold separately, I would imagine it sounds much better.
CONCLUSION
Sound bars are almost a must nowadays. And for good reason. Great sound with a simple setup. At least when you need/want simplicity. This speaker is great in that you can purchase wireless rear speakers and/or subwoofer to compliment the sound. But know that unless you have the newest Sony TVs you could run into issues with getting it to work. It's not simple plug and play - at least in my experience. But the sound quality was worth the trouble.

Right out of the (recycled and sustainable packaging) box, the Sony S2000 has impressive stats, and a small form that nestles underneath a Sony Bravia TV just nicely.
Opening that box, you get the sound bar, the power supply, a remote and an HDMI cable, all that you need to get the sound bar up and running quickly. There's a QR code as well to download the accompanying Home Entertainment Connect app to get it fully set up to your liking. And of course instructions and warranty information.
My first check was to connect via bluetooth and play some music. Connected quickly, displayed my phone name on the small display on the right below the mesh of the front grill. The sound was decent, but erring on the 'ok' side of things. Turning it up provided some more bass, but it wasn't an 'amazing' experience right out of the box.
I then hooked up the sound bar to my Sony Bravia TV with eARC and played some Dolby Atmos soundtracks to test out the full capability of the sound bar. And also connected to the afore mentioned app.
The sound bar is equipped with 3.1 channels, Dolby Atmos, DTS X, it has a vertical sound engine and S-Force PRO Front Surround as well. Playing the first clip, and sitting directly in front of the sound bar, in a room with 25ft ceilings, the sound really did envelop me, I was really surprised. It did a great job of throwing some of the sound behind me and also felt like sound was coming at me from all sides. Sound that was supposed to go over my head actually did feel like that.
It was a great experience for such a small sound bar, and I can only imagine what it's like if you add the optional subwoofer and satellite speakers (both of which have a QR code to scan on top of the sound bar box to make it easy to upgrade your kit).
Overall, if you are looking for a great sounding sound bar for watching movies, TV shows and the like, then I can definitely recommend this Sony S2000. However, if you are looking for a bluetooth speaker to primarily play music, then this may not be the one for you, it sounds good, but not great in that realm, but it is truly designed for an immersive movie experience, which it achieves hands down.
Of note, I did connect the sound bar to one of my other Sony Bravia TVs that does NOT have eARC. The sound is decent, BUT, you cannot switch between other inputs and utilize the sound bar, as there is only one HDMI port on the sound bar, and without the eARC connection, you can't switch between inputs.

Easy Setup and Exceptional Sound Quality

The Sony HT-S2000 soundbar is a solid choice for those seeking a home entertainment system that is easy to set up and provides good sound quality. One of the best things about this soundbar is the "Sony Home Entertainment Connect App," which makes setup a breeze. With just one HDMI cable connected to my TV's HDMI eARC port and a few minutes with the Android app, I was able to quickly connect my soundbar to my TV and enjoy it.
While watching movies and TV shows, I noticed the audio sounded large and 3D and the dialogue clarity was exceptional on this unit. This soundbar can put out a lot of volume, making it ideal for larger rooms.
The Sony HT-S2000 also sounds great when playing music. However, I noticed it was lacking a bit of low end, which could be remedied by adding a subwoofer to the setup. Doing so can make the system feel more high-end and provide a more immersive listening experience. Additionally, rear speakers could be added to the system to make it an even more captivating, surround sound listening experience.
Mounting the soundbar onto the TV is easy thanks to the rear keyholes. I was able to mount it to my TV with a universal soundbar mount without issue. However, a potential negative I found is that the power adapter is not integrated into the soundbar, so users will need to deal with a power brick in line with the power cable. This can make it difficult to hide the cable in a wall channel. On other soundbars I have used, this was integrated into the soundbar and the whole length of the AC cable was able to be ran through a cable raceway.
Overall, the Sony HT-S2000 is a great soundbar for anyone looking for a simple setup and good sound quality. While it may require a subwoofer to reach its full potential, the dialogue clarity and volume output make it a worthwhile investment.

Sony HT-S2000 - Full Dolby Atmos Immersion

When Sony HT-2000 3.1 h Dolby Atmos Soundbar arrived, I was bit surprised at the weight of the unit when I picked up the box, it was heavier than I would have thought. Which is excellent in a speaker system, weight in my experience is typically attributed to the quality of speaker magnets.
Next plus for me when I unpacked the Sony HT-2000 was that the five front-firing speakers are visible through the grill. Like that, looking good. Equally appealing is the compact size of the unit which is right at 2.6’, compared to other units that stretch out to 4’ in width.
The HT-S2000 has left, right and three center speakers as well as dual-subwoofers. The five front facing speakers individually measure approximately 3.25x1.75 each and deliver crystal clear mid and high range sound reproduction.
For full surround sound theater, the HT-S2000 supports connecting wirelessly to external Sony subwoofer (SA-SW5 or SA-SW3) and rear speakers (SA-RS3S). Additionally, you can connect “Blu-ray Disc player, set-top box, cable box, gaming console, etc.”
Sony’s Home Entertainment Connect App delivers an easy straight forward Installation, and you can be quickly connected to the TV and up and running. Speaker may be installed to the wall or optional TV bracket system for attaching to the TV.
In addition to controlling the HT-2000 with the Sony Home Entertainment App the HT-S2000 can be managed with Sony’s Bravia XR TV remote through the Quick Settings menu. The system comes with a remote for managing settings, my TV and cable remotes worked flawlessly without having to re-enter codes.
The TV that I connected the HT-S2000 to was installed with a swivel wall mount, so I opted for bracket system that allowed me to attach the soundbar to the TV. This option takes a bit longer in mounting the bracket system to the TV mount. Excellent setup, speaker is always centered when changing TV angle.
Listening: When mounted and turned on I first sound tested with Dune the movie, it was rocking with broad, in-depth, immersive tunes with the Bass set at Mid-level (3 subwoofer settings Min/Mid/Max). Cranked Dune up to 100%, stunning sound - clear voice track and soundtrack - zip distortion. Impressive.
Notes:
Output: eARC/ARC - HDMI eARC cable included which supports 48Gbs

Weight: 8 lb 3 oz (3.7 kg)

Would like to see an update for the speaker offering the option to view volume on the TV screen.
Have been an audiophile since my first funky little mono record player, a few years back, and since then have been enthusiastic about high-fidelity sound reproduction and my love for music. That said, I can share that the Sony HT-S2000 is an exceptional system, first rate sound, tech, design, construction and the bottom-line is the HT-S2000 enhances Home Theater brilliantly.

This soundbar can really boom ! Though the TVs speakers were good, the HT-S2000 definitely brought the sound experience to a new level. I feel like it's difficult to make an all inclusive soundbar, one that works great for TV/HDMI and via bluetooth/paired devices and I think this one does a great job at that , especially in the latter group. I've used it with the Optical cable as well to enable it's use when connecting the TV to a PC via HDMI (couldn't tell the difference besides the quirk of losing the ability of auto on and off that's enabled using HDMI). Also used it connected to PC via bluetooth between rooms, and this thing didn't skip a beat. The sound is so rich (mind you it's in a modest space. I was most impressed with the amount of bass coming from the speaker. Though I also purchased and used it with the standalone Sony SA-SW300 BASS speaker (very good on it's own), I feel like the internal bass of the soundbar is enough for normal use. Where I feel like it can be a bit of a mixed response is with confirming it , ther'es so many variety in sound across streaming, with the TV and the soundbar itself, so some tweaking will be needed if you want optimal settings for what you're viewing. That said, I'm happy with the product, and think the satellite speakers will take it to the next level. I would recommend this soundbar, especially for a compact space, and if on sale. Added/ great feature bonus is ability to grow system / wirelessly connect to another bass (2 choices at least) and wireless rear speakers!

Hi Gunmetalskyline,
Thank you for this detailed and enthusiastic 5-star review! We're honored to hear that the Sony HT-S2000 has taken your sound experience to a new level and that you've been so impressed with its versatility. We're especially glad you're enjoying the rich, room-filling sound and the surprising amount of bass from the built-in subwoofers. It's great to know that the soundbar's ability to "boom" and its seamless performance across different connections—including with a PC—is hitting all the right notes for you. As you mentioned, a key feature is the ability to easily expand the system wirelessly with optional subwoofers and rear speakers, which truly allows you to customize and grow your home theater system to fit your needs. We appreciate you choosing Sony and hope you continue to enjoy your new audio setup for a long time!

I was finding it hard to hear the sound from my TV in my bedroom. I wanted something that would make it easier to hear voices and make the TV experience more enjoyable. That’s where the Sony HT-S2000 comes in. With its midsize footprint, it doesn’t take up a lot of real estate on the dresser, which makes my wife happy. The dimensions are 31”X 2 5/8”X 5” and include 3.1 system in one sound bar. The S2000 has left-center-right channel speakers and two built in subwoofers. Another great feature is the ability to expand the system to include rear speakers and a wireless subwoofer. This sound bar is excellent for a small or medium room, with full clear sound that draws you into the program you are watching. What is surprising is the features that are packed into the S2000, such as Dolby Atmos, DTS-X, eARC, Bluetooth connectivity and simplified setup using the Sony app on your phone. Connections include, one HDMI eARC input, one Optical input, one USB connection and Bluetooth wireless connectivity.
What is most important is the quality of the sound. I’m using just the S2000 sound bar and the sound while watching movies and TV shows is exceptional and far better than I would have expected. Depending on what you are watching you can change the sound fields/modes to enhance the sound quality. The remote has input, power, sound fields, voice for helping to enhance the voice on programs, volume up and down, Night to reduce bass while using during nighttime viewing and mute.
I have been so impressed with the quality of the sound and the ease of setup and use of the S2000. For the small footprint that this sound bar takes up, it is an outstanding addition to my bedroom set up and I highly recommend it.

Great Sony to Sony product. If you have a Sony TV this is a must have. It’s not app compatible (iTunes, Amazon Music, Tidal) but Bluetooth is a snap. I have to admit this was the most neatly packed speaker/soundbar i have ever had in my life. I received this Sony HT-S2000 and i was really impressed with the way they pack it and how simple it was to take it out and connected to my tv and my bluetooth receiver as well to download the app for it.
The sound-bar is designed for rather medium to small rooms but works in larger areas too where i feel that you should complimenting it with it's rear speakers or subwoofer compatible lineup. So far i had tested the sound-bar alone and it delivers the sound i expected to, it's very easy to setup and i found the app Sony | Home Entertainment Connect very helpful as well.
It measures about 31inches in width and about 5inches in depth with with a medium to light weight and has a pretty clean and neath look that would fit perfectly anywhere you would like to position it.
Comes with a small remote (2 batteries included), hdmi cable and power supply.
It's 3.1 channel driven with DolbyAtmos, DTS:X decoding and will satisfy most of the listeners! My favorite surround setting will be the Vertical Surround that would be a coding used by Sony and you can select that thru the app.

This is a BestBuy Tech-Insider review of free product
The Sony HT S2000 is compact, low profile, and truly a “plug and play” to install onto my Samsung “The Frame” television. We purchased The Frame about 3 years ago, as we were remodeling our downstairs. We wanted a television that did not present a gaudy presence, perched onto a wall mount sticking out into the room. Indeed, Samsung has done a good job achieving those desired characteristics with The Frame’s ability to recreate framed art work or photography when not being an active television. So to keep with that discrete ethic, a minimalist sound system to go with the television seemed appropriate. The Sony has filled that wish nicely.
The system arrived in a highly protective box, but without the usual plethora of plastic. The interior dividers were recyclable paperboard, and the envelope wrappers were also paper. It was quite refreshing not to have to cringe at mountains of styrofoam.
It took about 15 minutes to add it to the system. The Frame has a separate command center box that connects to the TV with a single slender cable. The HDMI inputs are on this box, inside the credenza beneath the TV. Being a recent model, it has a eARC designated HDMI plug input.
Prior to receiving the Sony soundbar I had read in the Samsung manual to confirm I had the eARC input. Samsung cautioned that the HDMI cable needed to be eARC capable, and the Sony came with an appropriate such cable. The other TVs in the home, all Sony, were more vintage and lacked eARC labeled HDMI ports.
The setup was totally automatic when using the downloaded Sony Home Entertainment Connect app. The app found the soundbar promptly, linked to it via Bluetooth, and integrated it into my system.
A small remote control came with the Sony, but I found the control for my Apple TV worked the volume of the Sony, so one less remote to have to juggle. I do not anticipate that I’ll use the Sony iPhone app or the separate remote control very often, since the remote for the AppleTV handles the volume, which is what you are mostly adjusting.
There is behind the grille cloth on the right side of the soundbar a light up commentary dialog of your current settings or status. A nice touch, and discrete.
Options for adding a subwoofer or a pair of rear speakers were offered during the setup, but I skipped them for now, keeping a minimalist kit for our small abode. A separate true subwoofer, rather than the claimed “subwoofers” would be a nice addition, but would add to the price and footprint in our small space.
I switched on Apple Music app from the AppleTV choices, and opted for a classical playlist, to sample the full spectrum of sound. I was not disappointed; the sound quality was crisp and spacious. Although the built in speakers of the Samsung have been acceptable, this was a definite improvement. The Sony has two “subwoofers” built in, three front speakers, and a center channel designed specifically for dialog. Surround sound technology via Dolby Atmos® and DTS:X® are both built in to the system.
From the AppleTV, music via Apple Music is immediately available, and the Sony accepts inputs via Bluetooth from your phone, laptop, tablet, or any USB connected device via inputs on the Soundbar. There is also an optical input port available on the Soundbar, but I did not use that.
Wall mounting template is included, and seems to be straightforward, but we are positioning instead to sit on the credenza beneath the television.
What I noticed most prominently is the audible .clarity, without distortion of dialog, even with the volume turned up.
In summary, this is in my opinion a great system for those with limited space, wishing a smaller system and less obtrusive presence in the living room, and perhaps in an apartment or condo where neighbors sharing walls would appreciate less booming bass.

Purchased a new Sony Bravia 2024 model. My old LG soundbar would not interface consistently. It had a wireless subwoofer that I had turned down to zero (no sound). So, I was on a search for a new soundbar. I wanted just the soundbar with no separate subwoofer. I don’t need a blasting bass that you can feel. I just wanted clear, crisp, high quality sound for TV, steaming movies, and music. I was also looking for the smallest soundbar possible, particularly in depth. My old LG was very thin but in my research I found in current times, thin soundbars don’t exist anymore. I used another site that had longer return policy to give each a longer try. But, I knew once I decided I would purchase from Best Buy because I like the Geek Squad coverage you can purchase. Some were the exact same price and some were more while others were less. My trials included Sonos, Yamaha, Bose also the Bose 600, Vizio, JBL, Samsung and others. Some of these had apps that were very problematic and some of them wouldn’t even work on my brand new top of the line Samsung cell phone. For an elderly, I am pretty tech savvy with these types of electronics so I knew what I was doing with every set-up I tried. 12 soundbars later I decided to try the Sony HT-S2000, in spite of some of the negative reviews that I was concerned about. I wish the depth of it was smaller and it didn’t weigh as much as it does. Other than that it is perfect in every way. Clear, crisp, fantastic sound with plenty of bass, across all platforms, and a very easy set up. I used it for over two weeks every day to make sure before returning it and purchasing from Best Buy.
