TERRIBLE. STAY CLEAR from this product. Bad sync issues with TV. After complaining to Sony, they had me send it to the laboratory TWICE where they weren't able to fix the issue. Sent emails and spent hours on the phone waiting for answers but it wasn't helpful. Eventually gave up. Look it up on Google - everyone whos purchased this item complains about it later.

Bought this system oct 2019 and lately the subwoofer has been cutting in and out. I have tried everything that is possible to fix it and yet it still does it. I have now read other reviews of other people saying they’re having the same issue and that sony will not do anything about it. For the amount of money I paid for this I’m very unhappy. Buyer beware

If I could it would have been a 0* The sound is harsh and to hear it it has to be very loud. It;s hard to believe that this is rated as a $1,000 sound bar It's the worst sound on a YV I've ever heard! I;m waiting for the Geek Squad to pick it and the Sony TB up and deliver a new Samsung. Don't buy it it's lousy.

TRASH!!! Turn it on and sometimes it works, most of the time it does whatever it wants. My favorite part is when it tells me theres no HDMI input signal, LOL!! Like always says that. After turning it on and off for about an hour it sometimes works. For something so darn expensive to just be trash, extremely disappointed with SONY. I should've returned the sounder with the TV!! Overpriced garbage!!!

Setup is extremely complicated, especially when the instructions that came with the sound bar gave more instructions about a Sony TV then the soundbar. Once set-up the sound kept cutting in a out both from the soundbar itself and from the extra rear speakers that I purchased. This was recommended by one of the experts in the department. This is my second try at a soundbar. Bought a Bose and it was easy to setup through their ap.

Bought this sound bar and sub woofer about six months ago with a Sony Bravia TV at Best Buy. It's terrible. Music is so much louder than dialog, we pretty much never use it. Thinking I'm going to donate it to a shelter or something similar. Don't waste your money, it's definitely not worth it. I've followed every instruction to the tee.

      Hi GiveandGo,

Thank you for purchasing the HTZ9F. We regret to hear that the sound is cutting off on the soundbar when TV is turned on. We'd like to troubleshoot and isolate the issue. Check the following if the sound cuts out or noise is heard from the subwoofer or rear speaker of your HT-Z9F 3.1ch Dolby Atmos® Soundbar:

Don't block the soundbar and the connected device.
Place your soundbar near the connected device.
Try a wired connection instead of wireless connection.
If using wireless connection, make sure there are no other devices near the soundbar.
Devices such as microwave oven and routers produce electromagnetic waves may that interfere with your soundbar.

      Turn on the RF Channel.
On the supplied soundbar remote control, press the HOME button.
      Select Setup.
      Select Advanced Settings.
      Select Speaker Settings.
      Select Wireless Speaker Settings.
      Select RF Channel.
      Select On.

I admit it. We are a Sony family, but the bias in this case is justified by many years of experience with both Sony products & encounters with other manufacturers. We’ve rarely been disappointed with a Sony product and this is no exception. Never thought a soundbar could deliver such high level audio until now. This combo paired perfectly with our Sony 4K TV & along with the rear speaker addition, created a full theater experience. PROS: - Straightforward setup. Subwoofer & rear speakers paired quickly - Full, rich quality you would expect from a wired surround system - Very balanced sound requiring little adjustment - Powerful subwoofer delivers full deep tones - Remote includes separate volume controls for the subwoofer & rear speakers - Simulates an overhead speaker CONS: - Difficult to find any fault with this unit. I would only recommend purchasing the rear speakers for optimal enjoyment

Didn’t work well with the Sony 900 85in tv. Sad that Sony tv did not work with its own sound system. I had to exchange for a SONOS system which sounds better and operates much better with the Sony tv. Just google this system Abbas you’ll find all of the reviews of how it does not work well.

I have been using another sound bar for a few years that was pretty expensive but I've never been that excited about the sound. I was psyched to get this new Sony sound bar along with the wireless rear speakers. Setup was pretty straight forward. I only have 2 components and I plugged them right into the bar via HDMI and ran the HDMI out to Sony Bravia TV. My only complaint is that the inputs on the back of the bar are at an angle, i had a bit of a hard time getting the HDMI cables in. I guess Sony did it this way to make mounting the bar easier? I will be mounting mine later and will find out. The sub and the wireless speakers just need to be plugged into power and they are ready to go. I did not have to link them or change any settings through the remote which was really nice. Once everything was plugged in, I ran through the on-screen setup to set up the WiFi network, do an update and change some settings. It was fast, easy and I was ready to go in a few minutes. I broke the system in by watching the new Avengers movie at a pretty good volume. The sound was amazing. I could hear the movie all around me with the rears behind. I've had satellite speakers in the past that were pretty useless...not these! After the movie I tested them out with a baseball game which sounded great as well. With the vertical sound feature turned on, you really hear a difference in sound. I'm no audiophile so I'm not sure exactly what it does, but it just sounds fuller with this feature on. The remote is great. There are a bunch of different sound modes, volume buttons for the sub and the rears, as well as night mode and voice features. The voice button allows you to better hear dialogue but I have not found the need for this yet, everything sounds great. Night mode is great for watching movies later at night and you don't want to wake the neighbors. It will make sure you still hear everything well but won't rock the room and keeps huge sound effects from getting too loud. While I do not really need this bar for playing music, I do like the convenience of doing so from my phone. Both Chromecast audio and Bluetooth work really well and music sounds better on this system than other sound bars I have heard. I downloaded the Sony app as well, it allows you to use your phone to change volume, access media servers, etc. I wanted to be able to recommend this bar without the rear speakers, but after watching a few movies in full surround sound, I just can't. Do yourself a favor and spend a few extra bucks to get the wireless rears, it really makes a difference. The system sounds great without them, but the satellites really up the game. Great job with this Sony!
