It has two hdmi inputs that it can route to the TV, and the e-Arc audio FROM the television works clearly and reliably. I plan to get the additional rear speakers. Be aware this speaker set supports Dolby Atmos/Vertical Surround but it does not have true upward-pointed speakers. Keep the remote nearby because some audio sounds better in vertical surround mode and some sounds worse. As a Sony soundbar it works a little better with a Sony TV, but I have no real complaints about other devices such as a phone, a Switch or a PC...the TV routes audio into the soundbar and it comes out just fine. System has additional wireless features which seem to work as advertised but I don't use them often enough to pass judgement. You can play music directly off a USB device or stream using the soundbar's wifi, but the menus display on my TV screen and the TV already has smart media features. Could be interesting if you deploy the soundbar in a restaurant or lobby without an attached TV...would make an easy wall mount with only power wire needed, and subwoofer and rear channels are reliable wireless. I like it!

This Sony product is amazing with the bass and the Dolby! It’s amazing that’s there is a rear speaker kit you can buy later which I will purchase later. This is quite worth the update but price is slightly high. If you want a big upgrade and don’t want to pay the Bose/Sonos price, this is it.

I replaced a 5-yr old Yamaha wired system with this soundbar and the matching surround rear speakers. I installed this in a 22x22 living room with the soundbar against one wall and the surround speakers against the opposite wall, 22 feet away. The Sony wireless connection is a proprietary system that provides an outstanding connection--clear sound, very adequate volume, no static or distortion. I tried two other systems--one Polk, one Klipsch--both of which used Bluetooth to connect to the rear speakers. Both had static and distortion, and made popping sounds that were unacceptable. Some reviews of this Sony system criticize the lack of upward firing speakers for Dolby Atmos. I find the immersive surround, including vertical sound, to be excellent. This soundbar has multiple HDMI inputs, allowing more input devices than just the TV HDMI's (angled recessed access to these is a bit awkward). Wifi connectivity is great. I have Google doorbells and numerous compatible devices around our house, and the soundbar works with those seamlessly. The Subwoofer is very good; we keep it at about 3/4 volume. The phone app is okay, pretty basic, not outstanding.

Pair it with rear speakers and it becomes a great home theater set up. However, connectivity issues plague this system. Perhaps I was unlucky and received a defective unit... but I find that hard to believe as I have now gone through three, yes three, different units and all feature the same glaring issue: subwoofer and rear speaker random disconnection. The subwoofer is worse; constantly cutting in and out during play through of movies and games. Tried every hotfix I could find for it but nothing. My brother opted for a JBL system and he had experienced no issues. I cannot recommend this product to anyone, based on my experiences.

Don't block the soundbar and the connected device.
Place your soundbar near the connected device.
Try a wired connection instead of wireless connection.
If using wireless connection, make sure there are no other devices near the soundbar.
Turn on the RF Channel.

Good sound quality, but periodically stops working

However, it periodically stops producing sound and I end up having to restart everything to get the sound bar to start working again. I've had to do it at least 10 times since I got it set up in December.

This sound bar elevates my movie and video game experience to the next level. Would never go back to TV speakers again. Synced perfectly with my Sony Bravita TV, and the wireless sub-woofer never loses connection. Highly recommend, especially if you get a discount when you purchase a Sony TV at the same time like I did. Warning - your wife may have to tell you to turn it down for time to time ;)

Movies are absolutely transformed into a fully immersed experience. Dialogue is clear...bass is subtle when needed and hits like a freight train when called upon. Relatively easy setup. All the bells and whistles one could hope for in a rather attractive yet contemporary style. Very user friendly and imagine this...it actually comes with a freakin user manual. So far we're loving it....hoping it stands the test of time.

It has multiple settings on the remote to allow sound adjustments depending on what type on program you are watching. It offers more than enough power with clarity for my needs and outperforms the Sony HT-NT5 sound bar which I have on my living room TV by leaps and bounds. The sale price along with the bundle discount made for an incredible deal.

The sound is very clear and the bass from the wireless sub can really shake a room. If you are looking for a supreme theatre type sound this set up may not be for you. It is more than adequate for our family movie nights and action packed scenes. Bestbuy also had a great sale price when it was purchased.
