I did add the rear speakers and figured out I prefer the doubly surround instead. Seems to me you get way more of the sound from all speakers around you instead of the washed out sound from Atmos

The HT-Z9F features customizable speaker settings where you can set the speaker distance from 0 ft to 33 ft for much richer sound quality. You can raise the level of the rear speakers 12 steps on the remote and also an additional 6 dB via the onscreen menu to help fill out your room better. Dialogue could be better but excellent value for the price.

The sound capability and clarity is really good. We used the Bluetooth capability with our iPhones, and the device was quick/easy to pair and operate. I highly recommend the Sony soundbar!

Definitely worth the money but in this price range it can’t compare to the higher end speaker systems. Would recommend if a budget is important!

Not sure if the connection between the two devices is faulty or what. Other than that, the sound is amazing!

We replaced our old surround sound system with this and we don't miss it one bit. No wires to worry about and the sound is superb! We had the option of mounting it on the wall but chose to set on a piece of furniture. It is unobtrusive but really sounds good.

It didn't really come alive until I purchased the rear speakers separately though. I really wish Sony would have given this up firing speakers for a true Atmos experience, but it sounds pretty good without.

It produces excellent sound. I initially had some issues where the spoken dialog became too soft relative to the background sounds. Changing the Sound Effect Setting from Sound Mode On to Dolby Speaker Visualizer and setting the voice mode to 1 solved these problems for me.

If you’re looking for an Atmos sound bar without spending a ton of money, this is the one to get. It takes little time to set up with two HDMI inputs and one HDMI output to your TV. If you want the full 5.1.2 sound, It’s highly recommended that you add the Sony wireless rear speakers.
