I currently have two of these systems and enjoy having them. I also use an older 2.1 channel lg sound that still works great. It all depends on what your expectations are. I think a cheaper sound bar would work just fine for basic Audio improvement.

Thank you for your feedback on the Z9F Dolby Atmos soundbar. While we're glad that you like the sound quality of the soundbar, we regret to hear that your other set have to be returned because of the sound cutting out. This issue can be resolved by the following below:
Sound skips or has noise.
- If there is a device nearby that generates electromagnetic waves, such as a wireless LAN or a microwave oven in use, locate the system apart from it.
- If there is an obstacle between the main unit and the subwoofer, move or remove it.
- Locate the main unit and the subwoofer as close as possible.
- Change the [RF Channel] setting
- Switch the network connection of the TV or Blu-ray Disc player from wireless to wired.

It just wouldn’t connect good with my Wi-Fi or tv. The bass box kept cutting out, but I don’t think this was the sound bars fault. It was maybe the tv I have or how far the Wi-Fi box was to the bass box since the bass box was wireless. Would recommend though!
