If you want an immersive surround experience, you may want to look elsewhere (though I have not tried the optional rear speakers). The sub provides decent bass for movies. Nice sound for sports and Grateful Dead live streams. Make sure to hook your input directly into the soundbar, then connect to TV via arc, otherwise you may have lip sync issues.

Get a good HDMI cable

Paired with an LG C9. Sound was occasionally fading on sound bar and only playing on subwoofer. I used a "labeled as 4K" HDMI cable connecting via eARC. Thinking it was an incompatible eARC protocol between the devices I was very frustrated. Come to find out I needed a certified Premium HDMI cable, capable of 48Gbs and eARC. I suspect supporting Ethernet over HDMI. Once this was replaced the system works great.
