Frustrating sound volumes

And possibly I'm doing something wrong on my end -- but the various levels of sound from channel to channel is so frustrating to adjust. Either I hear music way too much and the voices are low, or it's all just loud. I'm constantly raising and lowering the volume during movies. Even the Voice Option doesn't seem to make much of a difference. I've tried all the settings, I've tried adjusting things through the TV, I don't know. Like I said, I want to love it (Heck, my TV is very very easy to adjust and use) but I'm not there yet. Hopefully I can figure out what's wrong and it will be something as simple as a button push here and there.

As far your experience with only a very low-level sound of the device connected to
the system is heard, please try some of these solutions.
- Press volume + on the remote control and check the volume level
- Press +/- on the remote control to cancel the muting function
- Make sure the input source is selected correctly. You should try other input sources by pressing the input select button on the remote control (TV/HDMI1/HDMI2/ANALOG/ USB/BLUETOOTH)
- Check that all the cables and cords of the system and connected device are firmly inserted.
- When you play content compatible with copyright protection technology (HDCP), it may not be output from the system.
- Set [Setup] - [Advanced Settings]
- [HDMI Settings] - [HDMI Signal Format] to [Standard format].

I purchased this open box and saved 200 for buying a sony tv. My final price was $500. Thats a great price and im gonna keep it. This is great teamed up with my Sony X90j. Would I recommend? On sale YES.

Ages ago I bought large surround sound system which sounded great but it was time for an upgraded TV. My old system would no longer work with the new TV. I was skeptical this system would meet my expectations. I have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised when I heard it for the first time. Just make sure you buy an optical cord (not included) otherwise the sound will cut out even though I bought a Sony TV.

Not sure if it was the installation or the bar itself, but you have to turn up the TV volume to clearly hear and for some reason the volume number on the TV is twice what the sound bar shows.

Works, Sounds Great

Owned for 6 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I settled on this for two reasons, one being the room it is used in (beamed ceilings, no side wall on one side, one brick wall and one drywall with 8 foot opening near device) the reason I just wanted this to be a full Sony system. A side firing sound bar or one that had angled firing speakers towards the ceiling were of no use to me because of the room configuration. This sound bar system does the job, try it without the rears first and you call always add them later.
