Well, this soundbar allows those sounds to come through as well or better than the loud background noises! I have no trouble hearing what is being said no matter what is going on in the scene I am watching. Great sound!

I really wanted to like it....

I also bought the LG sp8ya to have something to test it with being both are Dolby Atmos and dtsx compatible. Well the Sony is really really load and more of a punch in the face where as the LG is more of what I want the MOVIE Theater sound. Sony claims the technology is there but I just didn't here it. I was going to to buy the rear speakers to see if they helped but the LG just gives the better sound imo. The Sony doesn't really have a real Dolby Atmos sound IMO.

The HTZ9F supports DolbyAtmos and DTX:S. To enjoy this feature on the soundbar, your TV and the content you are playing must also support Dolby Atmos and DTS-X. Please make sure that your that the soundbar is connected to the HMDI ARC/eARC port of the TV and make sure you have enabled the eARC (enhanced format) feature. It would cut out for a solid 30 seconds whether it was cable or a streaming app. Maybe it updated? But no longer has any issues at all and it sounds fantastic
