Sound quality is decent, however the included HDMI cable is crap as it stopped working after 3 weeks! Fortunately, I had a spare cable and the sound has returned. Subwoofer has decent bass response and can be adjusted with the remote, which is very cool.

Overall a little expensive but I was able to get a good price on an Open Box since New ones were on sale. My setup consists of a X900F TV, and X700 disc player and after comparing the HT 9000F soundbar with this soundbar (without the rear speakers) in the store, it was clear that this soundbar was worth the price difference. The TV eARC HDMI port (3) is connected to the soundbar. My TiVo and AppleTV 4K are connected to TV directly and the X700 disc player is connected to the soundbar. The HDMI CEC functionality seems to work reasonably well and the soundbar and TV switch inputs when a device is powered up. Even without the rear speakers, the soundbar improves the sound enough to justify the price. I’ve used the soundbar to stream music via Spotify but not used the other features. There have been a couple of times that the soundbar has stopped working with the TV properly but pressing the Bravia sync button rectified the problem. Make sure you update the firmware but there are still minor issues. I’ve only encountered issues when using the Spotify app and switching back to my TiVo. Highly recommended!

I wanted to buy the biggest sound bar but didn’t like the biggest price. This model was 899.00 marked down to 499.00 so that made it a win win .

The sound quality is great with different sound modes so we can hear dialog better if we want. The wireless sub woofer is awesome. I finally got rid of all my wired speakers.

Nice system but too expensive for what it is

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally purchased a VIZIO 36512 sound bar system with upward firing speakers and wireless rear speakers included for under $400 but it was so plagued with issues of connectivity and firmware problems for my new SONY Brevia TV I had to return it and purchased this Sony 3.1 system. The VIZIO Vcast app which you need to update the system was also very buggy and would sometimes not connect with the system. I also purchased the SONY wireless rear speakers for a total of $1200. The Sony system while good is not as vibrant as the VIZIO but works without issues. I can't tell the difference between the Vertical S option and the Virtual Sound option but both are pretty good. Bottom line the SONY system is much more expensive than others but at least works without issues. If your TV can work with the VIZIO I recommend that system over this SONY.

Best audio you're gonna get from a soundbar!

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: The sound is amazing, the eARC works almost perfectly, the 2 HDMI pass-throughs support 4k HDR content at 60Hz (though you have to use the onscreen menu to manually switched them to "enhanced" mode). An 18 Gbps 4K HDMI cable is included, the remote provides lots of system adjustment options and the onscreen menu makes setup pretty easy. Built-in wi-fi makes firmware updates a breeze. Between bluetooth, wifi, USB and a 3.5mm jack, this device has numerous connection options. Cons: Even on sale, this unit is pricey. The rear satellite speakers have to be bought separately (though once those are manually calibrated, they noticeably enhance this sound system.) Is this as good as a full 7.2.4 ATMOS system with a 1,000+ Watt receiver...no, but for a soundbar, it is pretty impressive.

Dolby Atmos at it's Peak

At 1st I had several problems like the sound would go off and on, but thankfully after an update all those problems came to pass. The sound it's great, but if you buy the rear speakers you will get everything Dolby Atmos has to offer.

Beautiful sound bar with pretty decent sound

Pretty much all sound codecs are supporting including Dolby Atmos. My only gripe is that it's expensive. Don't forget to switch the HDMI inputs to Enhanced. This should come by default like this.

Amazing sound quality

I always liked the Bose speakers but this one I thought had better sound quality. Bose is nice if you have a big room and high ceilings to get that surround sound feeling. But this Sony one had on a low volume and it still shook the room. Incredible

It is a little complicated to connect so I needed Sony support to assist so sound bar and TV would talk to each other. Odd because we're only talking a couple wires and plug-n-play to boot. Dolby atmos is good not great, the vertical sound isn’t as good on this unit. Bass is more punchy with less rumble but still good. Voice is great. Music sounds very good.

Make sure to use a premium high speed HDMI cable with ethernet, check if the connected device and content you are playing supports Dolby Atmos, make sure eARC function for the soundbar is enable and set HDMI signal format to Enhanced. The setup is very easy. The ability to add two more rear speakers is a plus. The menu is intuitive and I like that it has 2 HDMI inputs for devices. Since it’s a Sony you will pay more but you can rely on the quality. Highly recommended.

Crystal Clear

The sound quality is so crystal clear you will wonder why you haven’t bought this sooner. The Bluetooth is easy to connect to your phone. When you do play music from your phone, the quality of the music will amaze you, the bass is unbelievable.

I also have to admit that this sound bar is amazing! Fantastic,full rich sound and very easy hook up. Great value especially when purchased in the bundle with ny new x950h sony tv. Awesome!
