We'd like to help troubleshoot and make this more a better experience. To make dialogs clearer, please press VOICE on the remote. The voice mode appears on the TV screen. Press the button repeatedly to
select the voice mode. You can easily enjoy pre-programmed sound effects that are tailored to different kinds of sound sources. Press one of the sound mode selecting buttons (AUTO SOUND,
CINEMA, MUSIC, GAME, NEWS, SPORTS, STANDARD) to select the sound mode.

I brought it home hooked it up and it worked fine. About two weeks later I wouldn’t bother rear speakers and now the system is excellent.

Started with intermittent connection issues with the rear speakers (extra purchase) and subwoofer. Its completely annoying when your into a movie and the audio starts cutting in and out. Now the rear speakers and the subwoofer doesn't even connect to the sound bar. For the price I paid, I expected something that would last more than 10 months.

Great sound bar with many options!

When we first got the sound bar we weren’t sure it would suit our needs, but now we love it and enjoy theater night every night!

We are so sorry if our HTZ9F did not meet your expectations. Some of this issue happened if the soundbar is not setup correctly. The HT-Z9F features customizable speaker settings where you can set the speaker distance from 0 ft to 33 ft for much richer sound quality. You can raise the level of the soundbar and subwoofer an additional 6 dB in the user interface menu. This will allow you to fully experience the rumbling lows during explosions of a movie, and the clarity of the string instruments during an orchestral performance. To round out your listening experience, we recommend adding the SAZ9R wireless rear speakers.

The cost of $200 for rear speakers was excessive. Support by the Sony team to obtain a connector needed for video hook up was superb.

It is unfortunate to hear you're having an issue with your Z9F Dolby Atmos soundbar. There are some things we’d like for you to try and see if we can resolve your audio dropping issue.
First, verify the HDMI cables you are using are rated for high speed and are at least 18 Gbps cables. Try replacing them if you have not. Next, ensure CEC control is enabled on the soundbar and your TV. You’ll need to refer to the manual of your TV, and for the soundbar, it’s on page 64. We’re not sure which brand of TV you have your soundbar connected, however, please ensure both are on the latest firmware. For the soundbar, please refer to this link https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/home-theater-sound-bars-home-theater-systems/ht-z9f/downloads/00016893.

Dialog not clear

Has a lot of volume to fill a room. Problem for me is with the software. Background noises are elevate way too much in comparison to the dialogs. Lack of equalizer settings sometimes makes it impossible to set for clear dialogs. Sony should really fix this with update and provide with equalizer support. Overall good sound system but software left you wanting.

Please make sure that the Soundbar has the latest software update. You may customize the distance and gain of speakers in the settings for best sound quality. Please change the voice mode for making dialog much clearer. Follow the steps below that may resolve the issue:
Press the Voice button repeatedly and select the correct voice mode.
Mode:
Up OFF -Standard
Up 1 -Dialog is easily heard by enhancing dialog range.
Up 2 - Dialog range is enhanced more than [Up 1] mode.
Please do note that the voice mode does not appear on the TV screen while the TV input is selected.

We're sorry if the bass did not meet your expectations. If the input sources contain very little bass sound components (i.e., a TV broadcast), bass sound may be difficult to hear. Please note, that aside from the remote’s 12 step subwoofer adjustment, you can increase the level of your soundbar and subwoofer’s output an additional 6dB if you access the speaker settings in the Graphical User Interface (GUI). She installed it herself and she said the sound is great she really likes it. With this sound bar you can add on 2 portable speakers in the rear which she will eventually do she said.
