It was easy to hook up and the voices were crystal clear and the sound effects were good while not overwhelming. Unfortunately it kept shutting off and/or disconnecting. Right in the middle of the Georgia Florida game. No sound! The soundbar would not turn back on and when it did it would turn off and refuse to come back on.

Great for medium living area and sony ecosystem

While I considered the HTA-5000 and HTA-7000, I found that for the price and for the features, the HTA-3000 was the best fit. The install was smooth. Easy to hookup via the HDMI e Arc to my Sony TV. Easy to setup. Nothing to really fiddle with to tweak the sound. Just Plug and Play. It can get plenty loud, but i keep the level around 20 to 30 depending on what I watch. It may be higher if I am using Chrome-cast for music. The builtin sub-woofer was plenty for the space I have it in. I have a solid wood cabinet that it sits on, it helps amplify the lower end sound very well. I plan on getting the Sony surround speakers at a later date to complete the Sony 360 sound field, but I do like that it performs well without having to be compelled to buy the accessories.

Not what I was looking for

The fact that it synchs seamlessly with my Sony A80J OLED TV was a huge plus. However, the best words I can use to describe this product is bad balance. I was looking for a stand alone sound bar that could deliver clear and crisp dialogue while delivering deep bass when needed. The HT A3000 delivers the bass, but it's not the same deep bass you get from a stand alone subwoofer - which is to be expected. But that was not the biggest issue for me. The bigger issue was the muddled bass that can drown out the dialogue, and this is even with the acoustic center synch plugged into my TV. I gave it a good 3 weeks to really test it out before ultimately returning it and exchanging it for the Bose 600 smart sound bar - The jury is still out on that one too. I think if you can afford it, the Sony HT A5000 is the better option if you want a little thump with better sounding dialogue due to its upward firing speakers. But quite honestly, experimenting with these mid range sound bars has made me really appreciate how good the speakers on my A80J sound just by themself.

The subwoofer is a speaker for playing bass sounds. Sound from the subwoofer may be hard to hear when the input source has less bass sound, such as TV broadcast. Check this article below and see the third troubleshooting to resolve your issue.

Comes on for no reason.

There is a Sony software/hardware issue. Sound bar is connected with e-arc hdmi to my Sony Bravia tv. After shutting tv off which also controls the sound bar, the sound bar comes back on for a few brief seconds and scrolls MUTING on the front of the bar. This is my bedroom tv. Just when I fall asleep the sound bar comes on for no reason. The TV remains off. Several people are complaining about this issue.
