I had the Bose neck wearable speaker, which is no longer available through Bose. Mine had just gone out. I had surgery scheduled and I was not able to use over the head phones after surgery..With my Bose wearable speaker out of commission I searched for an alternative wearable speaker. I found the Sony Bravia wearable speaker. I thought these might only work with Bravia TVs,however after viewing a video on YouTube,it said you could use the wearable with laptops, and other devices. I decided to order these. They connect to all my TVs easily as well as other devices. The sound is of high quality. These have been a godsend while recovering from my surgery. I wear these almost all day(comfortably)with no cutting out throughout the house. This wearable has a long range. I also use this wearable speaker with Mee audio with 2 of us watching TV at the same time while wearing our wearable speaker. Music also sounds great! A big thank you to Sony.
Hi Chil66, Awesome! We are glad to hear that you are enjoying the sound quality of your new HTAN7 Wearable TV speaker! Thank you so much for choosing Sony! -Carl

An Awesome Portable Personal Speaker System

All I can say is "Wow!" to the new Sony - HTAN7 BRAVIA Theatre U Wearable TV Speakers. Once connected through Bluetooth, this comfortable, light-weight, around-the-neck speaker pair creates an immersive, dancing 3D wall of sound just for your ears, without blocking them from the rest of the world.
I have a late model Sony Bravia television at home that supports 360 Reality Audio. It took just a minute to connect the Theatre U Speakers to it via Bluetooth and begin enjoying the 3D surround sound just in my personal space.
One of the reasons that I wanted to try the BRAVIA Theater U Wearable TV Speakers is that when my husband and I are watching television with sound over our regular sound bar, my husband is always complaining that he cannot make out certain lines of dialog. To see if it would make a difference with these new speakers, I downloaded the Sony Speaker application to my phone. I setup the app to control the Bravia Threatre U Wireless Speakers, and then set the mode to Vocals. I had my husband try the Theatre U Wearable Speakers on a show with an episode with which I know he had trouble making out the dialog previously. Using these speakers, he was able to pick up every nuance of the show's dialog, while still be able to enjoy all the 3D surround sound effects and music. He was impressed.
I then took the speakers downstairs to our TV of another brand. It does not support 360 Reality Audio. Bluetooth setup was just as quick as with the Bravia. Once connected, the sound was still surround and rich, with clear dialog. These speakers allow you to sit and enjoy the show without blasting out the neighbors and while still being able to converse with your spouse.
We were so impressed with the Sony - HTAN7 BRAVIA Theater U Wearable TV Speakers that we went and ordered another one. Both of us can sit and enjoy the sounds individually, but together.
I would definitely suggest them to friends and family.
Hi NatureLover2, It sounds like you're really thrilled with the Sony - HTAN7 BRAVIA Theatre U Wearable TV Speakers! They seem to have made a significant difference in your TV watching experience, especially with their 3D surround sound and clear dialog enhancement features. It's great to hear that they work seamlessly with your Sony Bravia TV and even other brands, providing immersive sound without disturbing others nearby. Your positive experience with the Sony Speaker app and its vocal mode also highlights their versatility and effectiveness.
Sharing your enthusiasm and recommendation with friends and family is a wonderful idea, especially since these speakers seem to address common frustrations with TV sound quality. Enjoy your enhanced viewing experience with your new speakers!
Thank you for choosing Sony! -Carl

Like wearing a soundbar around your neck

Great wearable speaker. Best of its kind with not really any other comparables that I'm aware of.
It's like wearing a small soundbar - full immersive sound, comfortable & lightweight (you can forget you're wearing it).
The advantages are you can enjoy great sound, without content being too loud for the household - for a more personal or "quieter" for-everyone-else experience. Or for the hard of hearing, certain TVs (more so Sony Bravia TVs) can output tv sound simultaneously with bluetooth to this Theater U device, to give the user the needed louder volume without having volume too loud for anyone else.
Another bonus is you can have 2 devices connected to the Theater U: have your phone connected to take calls hands-free, or you can connect 2 of these Theatre Us together to the same source (your TV), & make it a duo experience (again for example to not disrurpt anyone else - say kids, or vice versa when they're watching their content).
You also have low latency if you choose to plug this in with a wired connection - to a controller for immersive gaming & a personal experience without the headphones, & still have a mic/bluetooth connection theoretically, though I have not tried this yet myself.
On sale for $199, though not the cheapest device, it is a nice premium product you can compare to similarly priced headphones; except that you don't have to wear those over the ears; which may not be preferred to some - because headphones can get warm/uncomfortable, or start to feel some soreness after an extended period of time depending on the headphones (another advantage being you can be more aware of your surroundings with the Theater U versus headphones).
There is a less expensive variant by Sony on sale currently also for $99 (normally $149), being half the price of the Theater U; however I imagine it being about half as good also, with less premium sound & features (good for price, perhaps for kids etc) for another comparable wearable speaker, up for consideration.
Hi Dano, we appreciate your detailed review of our product. We're glad you are enjoying it! Thanks for choosing Sony! ~Earl

This is my 4th collar speaker. I have an oraolo m110, sony srs-ws1, sony nb10, and this one. The oraolo sounds just ok, the nb10 has very little bass but still a good speaker, the ws1 sounds fantastic but has no onboard bluetooth, and this HTAN7 (theater u) sounds great, not as much bass as the ws1, but close. The HTAN7 is super comfortable, stylish, and if you can get it on sale, worth the money.
I mod my speakers with some washable fabric liners which are fairly inexpensive.
Besides collar speakers, there's also little clip-on speakers, but the really small ones (size of a chicken egg) don't sound anywhere like the HTAN7 theater u in my experience.
Hi Paul, Awesome! We are glad to hear that you are happy with your new HTAN7! Thank you for choosing Sony! -Carl

It sounds pretty good for a speaker you wear around your neck, however I do question it's practicallity. I could see more people using this as a gaming speaker for their pc rather than a "TV speaker". It's good and does the job. I found it was relatively comfy for my neck, however my case does not guarantee yours. Honestly, I don't see myself recommending this to a friend.
Thanks for this honest and detailed review of the HT-AN7! We really appreciate you sharing your experience and your thoughts on its practicality.
You've hit on a key point: this speaker is designed to create a personal, immersive sound experience for different types of entertainment. We've seen many people use it for a variety of activities, from watching movies to gaming on a PC, just as you suggested. It's great to hear that it delivers a great sound quality and you find it comfortable to wear.
We completely understand that a product like this may not be for everyone, and we truly value your candid feedback. Thanks again for taking the time to share your perspective!
We appreciate you choosing Sony!
Sincerely, Jenn | Sony North America.

Bought this for an elderly parent who needs assistance with hearing and this is life-changing for them! The sound is outstanding and the entire device is pretty lightweight. I would recommend this for anyone looking for great sound and a need to be discreet (late night TV watching or music listening).
Thank you for sharing such a heartwarming review. It means a lot to us to hear that the BRAVIA Theater U has been life-changing for your parent and that you're enjoying the outstanding sound and lightweight design.
Thanks for choosing Sony.

I was sceptical at first, but these are so much more comfortable then headphones and they are much quieter then speakers if you don’t like headphones but can’t be to loud with speakers these are perfect. The range is a little lower then other Bluetooth headphones I have, they start cutting out if I leave the room and close the door.

I was on the fence about buying these. I have more headphones and wireless speakers than I can count. After using these for a while I really like them. If watching content in the same room with others (like TV is on, but I'm on my iPad) the directed sound is less obtrusive to others, but way better sounding than a tablet or phone. And I don't feel closed off from others like I do if wearing headphones or earbuds. I bluetoothed to my TV in the garage and the sound follows me, and I can still hear when my heater turns on. They are comfortable enough I forget I'm wearing them sometimes. Typical Sony build quality. I wish the on/off status was clearer, but otherwise highly recommended.
Thanks for sharing your review and experience with the BRAVIA Theater U. We're glad that you like the sound quality and comfort of the speaker. Your feedback about the design is also appreciated. Thank you for choosing Sony!

These headphones are amazing I use them for video gaming, I use them for watching TV, and listening to my music. I definitely recommend buying this item. They can't connect to your TV as well so it's fantastic to watch TV with these headphones and they sound great and last a long time. They charge by USBC

Immersive Sound Without the Squeeze
I've been testing out the Sony HTAN7 speaker and I'm really impressed. As someone who loves listening to music and watching movies for hours on end, comfort is a huge priority, and this speaker delivers. It's lightweight and rests comfortably on my shoulders, so I can wear it for long stretches without any discomfort.
The sound quality is fantastic. The soundstage is wide and immersive, and the speakers deliver rich, clear audio across all genres. Plus, the connectivity is solid – I haven't experienced any disconnects.
If you're looking for a comfortable way to enjoy your favorite audio without headphones, this model is a great choice!

Exactly what i was looking for - now if only i could turn down the BASS !!!!! …. No treble !!! Barely make out voices over the BASS … Please please if anyone know how to turn down the BASS ?? i saw another customer review that said there’s no BASS !! Then their headphones are broken !!! Or they are insane.. i put these on a hard surface and i can get it to “walk” across that surface .. thought there might be a app to adjust ?? Thanks

All in All pleased. Good sound reproduction, Comfortable to wear. Easliy syncs to my Bravia and Apple TV.
Only "complaint". (not really) is they are a little louder than expected. I expected them to project the sound directly to the ears, where no one else near could hear them. Like the Bose used to do. These can easily be heard by those in the next room.

This product has become my third most used possession behind my phone & my car. I love this thing. Best way to enjoy immersive sound laying in bed or vegging on the couch without the feeling of earbuds digging in my ear or headphones covering my head. A super underrated product in my opinion & I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys great sound for movies/tv/music. The price is steep, wait til it's on sale as I've seen it marked down several times over the last few months.
Hi Norbert, Excellent choice! We are so glad to hear that you are enjoying the sound quality of your new HTAN7 that is excellent for movies! Thank you for choosing Sony! -Carl

I love these new TV speakers! I used to use the headphone type TV "ears" to help me hear better but this is so much more comfortable and light around my neck. Another great feature is if I get up and decide to walk away from my TV, I can continue hearing clearly what is going on unlike my old "ears" that just went to static if I faced away from the TV. I can also turn the volume completely off on the TV so no one else in the room has to hear it and still enjoy whatever I am watching. Thank you Sony!
Hi ReneeC, You've made an excellent choice! We are truly happy to hear your purchase went well and you are very pleased with its exceptional audio quality and overall features. Glad to know you appreciate the open-ear design as well as it immerses you in movies without disturbing others and that you can watch and listen away from your device while still being aware of what’s going on around you. Thank you so much for purchasing the BRAVIA Theater U Wearable TV Speaker and for choosing Sony! -Jess

Sounds amazing, the detail is crystal clear and surround effects work great. Can be heard by other people in the room, but provides theatre system sound without disturbing the rest of the house, perfect for using at night. It would be nice if it had more bass. I use it daily.
You made the right choice! We're glad that you like the sound quality of the neckband speaker. Thank you for choosing Sony!

This device has been perfect for several reasons. First, my hearing is somewhat compromised and this device allows me to hear everything perfectly while watching my new TV. I also like it since being wireless I can move about my condo while continuing to hear a program. Best reason this device is perfect: I had to move into a one level condo with no stairways for mobility reasons. I have someone living over me in my condo. I was very concerned with disturbing them with loud volumes from my TV. This device is very quiet away from my shoulders and I am sure does not disturb my upstairs neighbor.

As much sounds as I could hope for from a neck phone speaker. We use this behind the desk in our gallery while watching TV on the monitor so when people walk in it doesn't look like we're wearing headphones, and if it's playing it can't be heard by customers over the gallery music. Extremely comfortable.
Hi DanM, Thank you for your amazing review! We're thrilled to hear that the HT-AN7 is meeting your expectations. It's great to know that you find it extremely comfortable and that it provides the perfect sound experience for your gallery setting. Thanks for choosing Sony! -Sam
