Dies kinda fast but charges super fast as well, it works great in my opinion just need decent Internet, works better when streaming ps plus games vs using PS5 but still usable enough to enjoy it

PlayStation made several updates on this device making it an absolute great device to play remotely or stream trough the cloud. With cloud getting better and better, I think PlayStation actually nailed it with this device. Streaming on the portal feels good without a doubt.

Got the matte black version of this a few days ago.. Been wanting this for a while now and finally got it. I have to say im a little bit disappointed. Dont get me wrong, this thing is beautifully designed and the graphics on it looks pretty awesome. But what kills it is the lags.. i have a 300mbps internet connection (now it could be my wifi acting up), but even with just my PlayStation portsl connected, i was having some issues this morning. i.e. kept losing internet connection, also was lagging a lot. Even in single play games/game modes like fc24 and RDR2. I did, however play diably 4 online last night and it ran smoothly.. but then again theres that occasional lags.

Excellent ergonomics inspired by the DualSense controller, smooth and beautiful image quality if the connection is good, and the freedom to play your PS5 games remotely.

With the new 4.0 update, this device is a game changer for anyone interested in the PlayStation. Being able to cloud stream games, with my PS5 packed up for a move was heaven sent. No PS5 needed.
You cannot download games natively to this device, but with the proper internet connection, playing on the Portal feels almost identical to playing natuve.
The dualsense haptics and triggers feel better than any other controller I've ever used, but they should have made the thumbsticks bigger.
The screen looks very good to say it is not OLED screen and the sound is decent, but no mind blowing.
I would not recommend this device for people that have only marginal internet connection, that wants to play without internet connection, or wants to watch netflix or youtube, as Sony has locked this thing down to just their ecosystem.
But for what it, it does an exceptional job with no other device quite like it.

Son loves it. Say best Xmas gift ever. To be able to connect to his playstation and play his video games without taking my living room tv and playstation is a great feature!

I keep going back to it thinking it’s worth it…it’s not. Don’t buy it. In reality if you can have a 5G hotspot at any given time then buy it. Let’s be real though, no average day to day person has that option. They’re running off 2.4G WiFi and maybe an okay 5G connection. But overall, not worth it. PlayStation is trying to make it the “modern PSP” by having cloud gaming on it but you have to have their most expensive subscription to play the cloud games. Oh, and the cloud games are what they deem suitable to be on there for now. You can still connect to your PlayStation 5…if it’s in Rest Mode. If not or you forget to put it in rest mode, well, it’s cloud games or nothing. It won’t turn on your PlayStation from being “off”.
So overall it’s more of one of those weird, odd, collectible gaming items to make fun of later on.
Lastly:
- Not an OLED screen or even LED
- 1080p resolution IF you’re lucky
- Usually always runs below 1080p when on a different WiFi or connection point that what the console itself is on.
- Battery life sucks
- Joysticks are the definition of sensitive to the touch…as in they feel loose and fragile. They are super sensitive to movement
- Photo provided is it running at 1080p but don’t let it fool you. There is a ton of lag time. The resolution was only maxed out because the PlayStation was in the same room and the PlayStation and the portal were the only two items on the WiFi. (PS5 was on 5G and the portable was on 2.4G)

When I come from work and take care of my baby, I let my baby use the TV and I use the PS Portal to play and continue where I left off on my PS5. If you’re not in the mood to turn your TV on it’s a cool handheld remote play device. I played games like Final Fantasy Rebirth, Helldivers, etc. The PS Portal is the best experience and way better connectivity than the iPhone/Samsung remote play feature.

Even though the PS Portal isn't a dedicated handheld portable gaming device, it is a great addition in the PlayStation lineup. As an extension of the PS5; a device that's considered as an accessory is a joy to use nonetheless. It seemlessly connects to the PS5 via WiFi or mobile hotspot so long as it meets the required network speed. The screen is bring and fluid with rich colors and the speakers aren't too bad either though lack bass but it's more than enough for gaming sessions. Battery is okay about 5 hrs of on-screen time. The ergonomic is as expected with any other DualSense controller with great vibration feedback and adaptive triggers. Those who wants a dedicated PS handheld, this is a great option for those who can't sit in one place or another means to play when the TV or monitor is occupied by family members. Also, it is a great device for parents. I call it DadStation

I love this thing has great quality while cloud gaming but it is annoying that it only works with the subscriptions for ps plus not everyone wants to pay that

This is great if you have good internet connection and if you have the high tier subscription you can play the games on the cloud which make it really worth having it you travel and you should also get the PlayStation charging station goes great with it
