The first thing I noticed is the weight (or lack thereof). They are very lightweight despite having a very solid build to them. At just over a half of pound they can stay comfortably on your head for long gaming sessions. But in my case I use them for all my audio (not just gaming). So they need to be able to stay comfortable for hours. The initial set up and install is very easy using the included dongle. I like that by having Bluetooth and 2.4ghz connectivity you can stay connected to your game and phone at the same time. The dongle is a bit weird shaped but is easy to get connected with a simple adapter if needed. Soundwise I am really impressed. The spatial sound is amazing. This is great for locating things in competitive gaming, but also works awesome with movies, TV, etc. It has very crisp sound that is very well balanced. And the bass isnt too loud where it becomes the main focus. Its perfect. The claimed battery life is 30 hours. This is of course all based on usage. If you are using BT and 2.4 you can probably get half that. But that is still plenty for a full day use before it needs a charge. The noise canceling works great as well. It really blocks out all the stuff you dont want to hear which adds to the overall immersion of your game or movie. Sony has this dialed in. The Inzone app allows you to further tweak things like the EQ to your liking. I prefer a set it and forget it type of set up so Ill work on the EQ and other settings to make one that will work for all my audio needs. Overall I am really impressed with the H9 II. It has all the sound, features, and settings I need for all my audio from my TV and phone. Highly recommend.

Very expensive headset that would be a much better value at 250 dollars. Great mic. Audio quality is a bit all over the place and I wouldn’t say it’s great. You can EQ these via software on PC but I couldn’t get them to a spot I liked. Due to my head shape as well these didn’t fit me comfortably but I would imagine most people would find these comfortable.

Thank you for sharing your detailed and honest feedback, Zavehi.

We are truly happy to hear that the great microphone on your INZONE H9 II is providing you with clear communication—that's essential for a smooth gaming experience.

We are, however, genuinely sorry that you were unable to achieve a sound profile you liked, even with the EQ software, and that you found the audio quality "all over the place." We appreciate this specific criticism and will share it with our development team, as we continually work to refine the sound experience across our gaming lineup.

We're especially sorry that the headset wasn't comfortable for you. We design our headsets, like the H9 II, with soft earcups and a snug fit for long gaming sessions, so it's always disappointing when they don't provide that comfort for every user. We truly hope that, even with the fit issues you experienced, your overall assessment that most people would find them comfortable helps other gamers.

We deeply value your detailed input, including your thoughts on the overall value. Thank you for taking the time to review the INZONE H9 II and choosing Sony.

The more I looked into the Sony Inzone H9 II Wireless, the more curious and excited I got. I have owned various gaming headsets over the years as well as so many different Sony headphones. I had heard mixed things about the original H9. I was sincerely hoping that the H9 II would be the grand slam. The H9 II look very simple. Almost like a pair of earmuffs. This was not a bad thing for me! The simple design language doesn't scream gaming headset. They can be worn outside for casual use. My wife even used them on our recent flight. They are also supremely light due to being predominantly plastic. This really does contribute to comfort. Alot of headphone manufacturers will literally add random metal to plastic frames to increase the weight of headphones as people associate weight with quality which is not true. That being said, only time will tell if the build quality lasts and whether or not the cups will peel, etc. The matte finish is a fingerprint magnet but easily wipeable. In terms of comfort, I really do think the H9 II are one of the most comfortable headsets I have ever worn. Obviously, it is super light. The band adjustment is also different from other headphones. You adjust the height of the lower band. It is harder to explain in words but if you have it, it is simple to do. The earcups are large. The memory foam is nice and plush. I wore it for hours without complaints. The passive noise cancellation is decent. I always complain about gaming headsets without active noise cancellation (ANC), but the Sony Inzone H9 II has it! Now here is where I have a bit to nitpick at. Sony is really pushing that the H9 II are built with the same drivers as the Sony XM6 headphones. I think the word choice is intentional. They are not claiming it is the same sound quality or ANC as the XM6 (which is also much pricier than the Inzone H9 II). The ANC is most definitely NOT the same as the XM6. I own both and the XM6 is clearly superior. That being said, I think it is fairly decent ANC and definitely contributes to a more complete and immersive gaming experience. In regards to the sound quality, it is definitely one of the better sounding gaming headsets I have tried. The details of games are fairly clear and crisp. For general music and movies, you do have to play around with the EQ settings as they are tuned differently from the XM6 but you can definitely find a ok balance. I love that the microphone is detachable and adjustable. It is fairly decent audio quality. It managed to convey my voice clearly. Battery life is rather average which could be considered subpar at this price range. It is advertised to have around 30 hours I believe with the ANC on. I got under that most of the time. It does charge rather quickly though. All in all, I think there is so much to love with the Sony Inzone H9 II wireless. It does have a rather large premium so you definitely have the right to nitpick. I think you have to consider if the small imperfections are dealbreakers.

Best Noise Canceling and Spatial Audio

I’ve been a fan of Sony WH-1000 headphones series for years. They’re the best in the market, especially when it comes to noise cancellation and comfort. Thus, I got these Inzone H9 headphones with the expectation that I was getting a similar deal, One of the first things that I liked immediately was that they were lightweight, which is probably number one priority if your focus is on comfort. Great for those gaming for hours. They don’t put too much pressure on your ears. Interestingly, when I was wearing glasses, it still felt comfortable. However, they are not as comfortable as the series I mentioned earlier, especially if you plan to fly with them. No big deal for gaming though. When it comes to noise cancellation, it rivals the WH-1000 series. With the touch of a button, you’re totally immersed in the game, and you can’t hear anything at all outside. Unfortunately, they are clearly designed for gaming only, and I wouldn’t carry them with me for use at an airport for instance as I would look too geek. Otherwise, it would be the only headphones I would ever use anywhere. As for audio quality, it again rivaled Sony’s premium series even for music. But again, these are designed for gaming they perform even better for that type of audio. You can even use EQ presets and spatial audio is fantastic. The mic also performed very well, and I like that it is detachable, although it is not very stable. Because they move around too much, the mic is what I liked the least about the Inzone H9 II. Sometimes, depending on how I insert it into the headset, they become stable for a while. There is a design flaw somewhere unless I simply got a bad pair. As for the wireless connectivity, these headphones will connect to just anything: Bluetooth classic and LE, USB-C dongle, and also through the included 3.5mm cable when that’s your only option for some equipment. They all worked flawlessly for me. Overall, I am very impressed with Inzone H9 II. My only complaint is about the mic physical instability, but the mic outperforms any other that I’ve tried.

    The Easiest Headset Recommendation

At the top of this review all I can say is, if you have the money and are looking for the best gaming headset for PC and PS5, the Sony INZONE H9 II is the one to get. I have found myself cycling through headsets because I feel I always have to make some exceptions with each headset. A highly reviewed headset sounds great but too heavy. Or another has great connectivity but no sidetone (hearing your own voice so you aren’t screaming into the headset unless you want to scream). Another has poor noise-cancelling or they look bad. The INZONE H9 II has it all, but in one perfect package. I think one of the greatest compliments I can give a gaming headset is, will I use it outside of gaming? The H9 IIs are a no question, I absolutely will be using this around the house and during travel. They are so comfortable, they sound incredible, and their noise cancelling is in the same ballpark as their XM6 flagship headphones for a cheaper price. Seamless switching between PC and bluetooth so that I can be gaming, then walk away for a few and listen to a podcast without having to fumble with settings. I’m excited to test these out on my next trip. As you can see below, my pros list far outweighs the two small quibbles I have. I really can’t say enough positive things about this headset. The easiest recommendation I’ve ever made in a review. Pros: Sound quality good enough to use as daily non-gaming drivers A detachable mic makes these a great option for travel as well, has a light on the inside of the mic to let you know when you are muted which is brilliant! Noise cancelling ability similar to Sony’s industry leading flagship XM6 headphones Excellent connectivity, never dropped connection and was able to walk across the house with them on and still chat with friends Lightweight and flexible, my big head was comfortable for my 5 hour gaming sessions 2.4GHz + Bluetooth that actually works seamlessly when connected to computer and phone LONG battery life, never even came close to feeling worried about them dying during gaming INZONE app allows for more fine tuning Sidetone that actually sounds good! Different shaped buttons to quickly adjust settings Cons: Wish the 2.4GHz USB-C dongle came with a USB-A adapter Wish it was an actual case and not just a bag

Sony H9 II: My Go-To PlayStation Headset

I recently upgraded to the **Sony WH-H9 II headphones**, after owning the first-generation H9 model, and I can confidently say they’ve taken my PlayStation experience to another level. I’ve always loved Sony products—especially the PlayStation—and whenever possible, I try to buy accessories made by the same company. In my opinion, the brand that builds the original product is in the best position to design accessories that feel seamless and flawless, and that philosophy really pays off here. ### Pros * **Noise Cancelling for Gaming**: The improved ANC is a big step up from the first H9s. During online matches, it blocks out distractions so I can focus on communication and gameplay. It also adds another layer of immersion in single-player titles. * **Sound Quality Tuned for PlayStation**: The H9 II delivers detailed, balanced audio. Directional cues in multiplayer games are clear, dialogue is crisp, and the bass is powerful without being overwhelming—making it ideal for both competitive play and cinematic gaming. * **Comfort for Long Sessions**: Sony redesigned the ear cushions to be softer and more breathable, which makes a real difference during long gaming sessions. I can wear these for hours without discomfort. * **Seamless Integration**: Setup with the PlayStation is smooth, and switching between the console and other devices is easy. It feels like these were built with the PlayStation experience in mind. * **Battery Life**: Long-lasting battery and quick-charge support mean I rarely worry about losing power mid-game. ### Cons * **Price**: They are expensive, and while I believe the quality is worth it, they may be a tough sell for more casual players. * **Bulkiness**: Despite folding, they’re still on the larger side compared to typical gaming headsets. * **Touch Controls**: Improved but not flawless—gestures occasionally misread, which can interrupt gameplay. * **Mic Quality**: Good enough for party chat, but not as clear as a dedicated standalone microphone. ### Final Thoughts Coming from the original H9s, the **H9 II is a noticeable upgrade** in nearly every category. What makes them stand out most to me is how well they complement the PlayStation experience. Because they’re designed by Sony, the same company behind the console, the integration feels natural, the features are optimized, and everything just works the way it should. For players like me—who believe the best accessories come from the company that built the original system—the **Sony WH-H9 II** is an excellent choice. They combine premium comfort, immersive sound, and Sony’s trademark polish into one of the best headsets available for PlayStation gaming.

I have been using the Sony Headphones for a while now and they have been awesome straight out of the box. They look super cool and they are very stylish. They come with a soft bag carrying case that’s adds to the true premium feel of these. They sound great they are plenty loud which usually is an issue for a lot of wireless headphones but these don’t have that problem. The ANC is absolutely fantastic my PC fans are pretty loud when they get going and the ANC takes care of it immediately and sometimes my wife will be talking to me and I’ll miss it. So yeah they are good. The surround is really good and you can tune it as well. The comfort is really nice no issues with my huge head where I usually have issues. I also really like the mic included it makes me feel like I’m in Spec ops or something. It picks up my voice well with no issues. The headset also splits the chat and game audio into two devices on your computer and there is a dedicated rocker on the headset so you are able to raise and lower the volume on each one. Which is really nice when you need to tune out someone or you can just have it be music. Overall a super solid headset with no downside.

I have an absolutely insane amount of headphones, earbuds, and gaming headsets. There are 4 gamers in the house & I have enough gaming headsets that each of us have 3 pair a piece. So we've had everything from the super cheap to the insanely expensive. I was using a mid-range gaming headset that I have been extremely happy until I got the Sony Inzone H9 II and they have become my everyday headset for everything from gaming, to listening to YouTube while at work, to meetings, and to music. You absolutely cannot go wrong with this headset! Unboxing & First Impressions The packaging for the Sony Inzone H9 II is nice, sleek, and makes the product look premium-which it is at it is. I have a black & white build for my gaming PC and so it fits in nicely with it. It even matches my gaming chair that is also black & white. It has been a match made in heaven for sure. Rating: 5/5 Setup I was able to download the Inzone software on my Windows gaming PC, and on my iPhone 14 Pro Max I installed the mobile version called Sony Sound Connect. But on my work laptop (a Macbook) there is no software available. Which is a bummer. They do not have a Mac OS version of Inzone or Sony Sound Connect. With more and more people getting into Macs for work & for pleasure you would think Sony would have a solution. Especially since Sony is such a HUGE company. The fact that they do not and my other, smaller, headset manufacturer companies do have software is very odd. These other companies are a fraction of the size of Sony but yet they have solutions (even if it's just the iOS mobile app running on Mac OS). Otherwise setup up was a breeze on my iPhone and on my various Windows machines (gaming desktop & gaming handheld both running Windows like I said). Rating: 4.5/5 Everyday Use, Gaming, and Movies/TV Show The driver in the Inzone H9 II are the same drivers as in the more expensive, and acclaimed, Sony WH-1000XM6. It is basically the Sony WH-1000XM6 with a microphone for gaming from what I can tell. And I must say they absolutely blew me away. Playing CS2, WWE 2K25, AEW Fight Forever, Madden, NBA, etc. all of them it felt like I was a part of the game. The experience was absolutely amazing. I am not an audiophile, I have too much scar tissue on my eardrums from having tons of surgeries on my ears as a kid, and so it is hard for me to probably experience what audiophiles do or even what the average Joe might, but I truly enjoyed listening to music, watching movies & TV shows, heck even streaming YouTube. I even let members of my family use the headset to play around with on their systems & they too were blown away. So it reaffirmed my view that this is going to be my everyday headset from here on out. Rating: 5/5 Fit This is another place that is make or break for me with a headset and I must say the Inzone H9 II does not give my ears or my head fatigue at all when I am wearing them for an extended period of time. They fit nicely, aren't super heavy, and even with me working for 10+ hours per day in them and wearing them basically nonstop I never experienced any head, neck, or ear pains at all. Rating: 5/5 Battery Life I was able to use this headset for almost a full 3 straight days of working 9-10 hours each day before they went dead & I needed to charge them. What I ended up doing after that, because I wanted to see just how long they would last, is that once I am off work I will plug them up to the cable to charge them and then before I go to bed at night I will unplug them (I don't want to kill the battery prematurely) and that has worked out well for me every single day. Rating: 5/5 Conclusion In closing, I must say the Sony Inzone H9 II are the best gaming headset I have ever had. I have been using gaming headsets for over 25 years now, with some of them being really good, and some I'd even have considered great but I think now that I truly know what a great headset is. It isn't useless RGB, it isn't endless other "gaming" gimmicks, it isn't some bloated Windows or mobile app, it is a sleek design, with amazing sound quality, a great mic, perfect fit, and they just work amazing. That is exactly what the H9 II is: a great gaming headset that puts the important things first and leaves the gimmicks to the competitors. I could not be happier with my new daily headset. Overall Rating: 24.5/25 (no Mac OS app lead to me deducting a half point)

Great Headset without being overpowered by bass

First why I am giving these 4 stars. There are a few things for me that just keeps me from giving these 5 stars. The first has to do with the mic. My ideal Mic would be one that you can take off but also one that swivels upward. I prefer one that swivels upward to mute over being able to take the mic out. But both would be ideal. I just find it much easier to push mic up to get out of the way and to mute when you need to. Like if eating something. Easier for me to just lift my mic up, eat and then pull it back down. With this, I would also like to be able to pull the mic out. This will allow too easy replace the mic if it happens to break. This will also allow to upgrade the mic if a better one comes out. I would love to see a universal plug for the mic. But that said, again for me the lack of not having a mic that I can push up to move out of the way and mute, is something I prefer. Another thing for me is the dongle. I do not know who comes up with the design. But having it come out and off to the side. Like a L shape just baffles me. Why not just make it come straight out? Like a USB thumb stick. Ideally for me, the dongle would come straight out and at the end, a slot for the cable to plug in to charge your headset or use them plugged in but taking up 1 USB slot for both of those. Just a thought for that. But at least make the dongle piece straight. Lastly is the software. It is not that bad, but it lacks some futures. I would love to see them offer more options. I use another headsets software because they offer more that I like. One such thing is having multiple outputs. This allows me to go in and have a setting for my games, movies, music, etc. So, for example, when I use my internet and use Netflix, or YouTube for instance, I can set the internet browser to utilize media for sound, and then I can customize the equalizer in that setting. Then when I play games, I can have those games open up under the game and set the equalizer up in that for games. It also has a list of games that I can preselect, and it will set up a pre-built equalizer for that specific game for hearing footsteps better. I would like to have seen something similar with Sony's software. Maybe over time. Another thing with the software, it does not give a battery percentage as far as in numbers. It just shows a battery and then roughly how full it is. I would also like to have something that says what the battery is at. Like am I at 92% after 4 hours of use. etc. But overall, they did a great job. Sound is very good. I have been able to hear footsteps in games a lot better. The bass is not to overpowering. They are pretty comfortable. They have a unique adjusting mechanism that is pretty neat. The earmuff part though is a little too loose as they easily turn. But once on your head, don't notice. The noise canceling is one of the best for a gaming headset. Not the best but does a good job. If you do not like that though, you can turn that off or you can also set to allow noise to pass thru. Off would give the best battery life, but I found that I charge overnight and use them all day without needing to plug them in. I have been told from those I game with that the mic sounds clear and really nice. Couple things for me though, the software did not much for tuning the mic. It would be nice if they had some presets to change your voice up. I also found that some games for the in-game chat seemed to not work. I had to use my desktop mic. Discord had no issues though. just the in-game voice chat. I love that they provide a travel bag. This bag also had a pocket on the front for you to put the cords and mic in. I would like to maybe see a way to put the dongle into the headset though. Overall, the sound like I said, was solid. The comfort is there as I was able to wear them all day. If you are looking for a great gaming headset and do not care about not having a lot of bass, these are perfect. If you do prefer a lot of bass and a more bass heavy headset, I would not recommend these then.

I've used and enjoyed the Sony Inzone H9 headset for the past 3 years, so when I saw that the Sony Inzone H9 II was coming out I was instantly excited to see how they compare and what sort of improvements were made. The first thing I noticed about the new headset is the lighter weight, which allows for it to be worn more comfortably during long sessions. The H9 II also has a new style of adjustable headband that leads to a more secure fit without feeling too tight. As for the earcups, they appear to be made of a new cloth-like material which is more breathable and seems like it will last for a long time unlike leatherette which might wear down. The microphone of the headset is fully removable, which is nice if you ever want to listen to audio without needing to speak. In addition, the sound quality of the microphone is superb and is a marked improvement from before. To my ears, it sounds so good that I would be fine using it for recording speech instead of needing a separate studio mic. I do miss the convenience of the tilt up to mute feature, but I'm sure I will get used to the separate mute button on top. Also, this microphone has a large filter on the end which can get in the way if you're not used to it being there, but it seems to be worth it for the reduction in pops and background noise. The wireless range of the Inzone H9 II is insane and the best of any headset I've had before. I was able to walk many rooms away while the audio played at a continuous high quality, where other headsets would have lost signal long before. The headset also offers a wired mode which is a nice option if you want to experience the highest sound quality and is something that not many wireless headsets offer nowadays. The noise cancellation mode works very well and is able to easily drown out common background noises to an unobtrusive level. On the other hand, the ambient sound mode offers excellent passthrough. When I had the headset in this mode, external noises sounded very natural and it felt as if the headset wasn't even covering my ears. In terms of sound quality, the H9 II excels for being a gaming headset. Many people assume that a gaming headset necessarily has bad sound quality, but surprisingly this headset has the same high-end drivers as the Sony WH-1000XM6. Another great thing about this headset is the ability to simultaneously connect to both Bluetooth and PC. You can seamlessly connect to a Bluetooth device without having to worry about switching pairings or plugging in a new dongle. The battery life of the Inzone H9 II is also great, and I never have to worry about it running low as long as I plug it in occasionally. And even if the battery were to run out, this headset can still be used while it is in the middle of charging. A final nice inclusion with the H9 II was the addition of a carrying bag. To wrap things up, the Sony Inzone H9 II is the best gaming headset I have used before and is a considerable improvement upon its predecessor. It shines in all areas, and the only improvement I could think of would have been the inclusion of a USB-A adapter. I was surprised to learn that this headset comes with a USB-C adapter, but luckily my newly built PC has a native USB-C port on it so this wasn't an issue. However for people with older PCs, this is something to be aware of.

      Hi Sdunnin,

Thanks for sharing your detailed and incredibly positive review of the INZONE H9 II headset! It's fantastic to hear from a dedicated Sony fan who has used the original H9 for so long and can provide such valuable feedback on the new model.

We're thrilled to hear you've noticed the key improvements we focused on with the H9 II. Your comments on the lighter weight, the more secure headband, and the durable, breathable earcup material confirm that our design enhancements have made a real difference in comfort for long gaming sessions.

We also love hearing your praise for the microphone quality. Your description of it being studio-mic-worthy is high praise, and it's great to know that the new design, including the pop filter, is a worthwhile trade-off for the exceptional clarity.

Your experience with the insane wireless range and the seamless dual-connectivity feature is exactly what we aimed for. We designed the headset to give gamers the freedom to move around without losing connection and to stay connected to both their game and their phone simultaneously.

We appreciate your feedback about the USB-C adapter and the tilt-to-mute feature. We understand the convenience of a USB-A adapter for older PCs, and we'll certainly pass this along to our product development team.

Thanks again for your thoughtful review and for choosing Sony!

      Sincerely,
Jenn | Sony North America. Sony_US
