||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For as many features as this has its not worth the price for one specific reason they can't be used individually (left won't work without right) now onto the bugs it constantly registers a tap when nothing's touching it... It constantly stops music hangs up calls it's not a viable headset for professional use

Posted .Hi Mikey,
While we're glad you like the open-ring design, we're sorry you've been running into difficulty. We'd love to troubleshoot this and make this a better experience for you. The Sony LinkBuds support the use of one unit by itself. In this case, only the unit that has been removed from the charging case will turn on. Even if you are using only one unit of the headset, you can play music with the unit you are wearing. However, when Service Link is turned on with the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app, use the right unit of the headset. You cannot use only the left unit of the headset.
Check that the touch sensor on the earbud you want to use by itself is set up to support the use of one earbud at a time. For more details, visit this helpful link: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/wireless-headphones-bluetooth-headphones/wf-l900/articles/00229345
We also recommended updating the firmware of the headphones (via the Sony Headphones Connect app) for optimum performance. If the headset does not operate correctly or wide area tap works unintentionally, follow these steps to troubleshoot this issue: https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/linkbuds/v1/en/contents/TP1000467224.html

Thank you for sharing your experience with the WF-L900 LinkBuds. We are really sorry if they didn't fit you well. This is certainly not the experience we wanted you to have with our premium headphones. The WF-L900 LinkBuds comes with different sizes of fitting supporter to suit different ear shapes. For optimum fit, comfort, and to keep the LinkBuds from falling out, we always recommend following the steps on these links:

Posted .Hi Thomas,
While we're glad that you appreciate the unique open-ring design, we regret to hear if you find the LinkBuds sound quality subpar and they did not fit you well causing them to fall out. We’d love to help you troubleshoot your problem to make sure your LinkBuds is great.
If the headset is not worn properly in your ears, you may not obtain the correct sound qualities or call performance. If the part of the headset where sound is output is not oriented correctly toward the ear canal, the sound quality may sound poor or the left and right sound localization may sound misaligned. The LinkBuds may also fall out or feel uncomfortable during use if you don't wear the LinkBuds properly or the ear fitting supporters are not correct for your ears.
Medium-sized (M) ear fitting supporters are attached to the LinkBuds at the time of the purchase. If they are too big or too small, select a different fitting supporter to help the LinkBuds fit better and feel more comfortable. We recommend starting with the larger sizes and working your way down to the smaller sizes until you find the best fit.

Great at first
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked these up in early 2022 shortly after they were released. The design is an interesting concept, and I applaud Sony for trying something different with their earbuds. Another positive is that they're using recycled materials for the product and doesn't seem to have a negative impact on the physical quality. The case is also compact which is a plus. There have been a lot of firmware updates for these earbuds, which can be updated through their app. Some have added new features which was nice. As other reviews have mentioned they do require some attention to getting the fit right. I played around with each of the fittings for a few days before I finally found something that worked. No, they don't have a lot of bass as they sit over your ears and not in your ear canal. The sound signature is similar to larger open back headphones but in a smaller earbud format, which I enjoy. They aren't as loud as you expect earbuds to be and at higher volumes people around you can definitely hear what you're listening to. With that being said I found that volume levels required in quieter office and outdoor settings didn't leak much sound. The battery is hands down the worst thing about these earbuds and my reason for the average rating. For the first 1.5 years everything seemed pretty good, I got near the advertised battery usage. In the last 6 months or so the battery has fallen off a cliff. One of the earbuds has trouble charging, it is constantly on low battery even though I have the case plugged in and earbuds should be charging, I can't get more than 20 minutes of use out of that earbud. It takes constant fiddling to get the earbud to sit in the case properly to charge and will stop charging if I pick up the case and put it in my bag. I have tried cleaning the case and earbud but nothing has helped. This is apparently a common problem with these earbuds after trying to troubleshoot. The other earbud lasts about 90 minutes now.

Posted .Hi Resv,
While we're happy you like that they are small and light and amazing for calls, we're sorry to know if the available operating time is short or the battery power does not last long. Check the Available operating time in your model's Help Guide for operating times of the headphones on a fully-charged battery.
Ref: https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/linkbuds/v1/en/contents/TP1000447703.html
If you set the following functions, the available operating time of the battery becomes short.
• Equalizer
• DSEE
• Speak-to-Chat
• Function to launch the voice assist function by your voice
• Service Link
•Sound quality mode during Bluetooth playback: Priority on sound quality
If you run the above settings at the same time, the available operating time of the battery becomes even shorter.
Note: Be sure to store the headphones in the charging case after use. If the headphones are placed in a pocket or bag, they may recognize that they are being worn and turn on by mistake.
For additional information, refer to this helpful link: https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/linkbuds/v1/en/contents/TP1000449917.html
We also recommended updating the firmware of the headphones (via the Sony Headphones Connect app) for optimum performance. The software update improves the general performance of the unit and includes key features, applications, and bug fixes.

On the non-software side of setup, Sony includes five different wing-tip sizes to find your perfect fit (extra small, small, medium, large, and extra large). The medium sized tips are already installed. The wing-tips are easy to remove and install, so I highly recommend experimenting with the different sizes to find what works best for your ears. There are no physical buttons on the earbuds, so you interact with them using tap gestures. You can select which taps mean what, and for each bud, using the app. What's really cool is that you don't need to actually tap the LinkBuds, you can use what Sony calls "wide area tap". Instead of tapping on the LinkBuds, you tap the side of your head NEAR your ear. Speaking of customization, the app is also how you can customize the sound quality of your LinkBuds. The EQ in the app gives you full control to find what sounds best to you, or you can go ahead and use several pre-set options. One major complaint about the setup and pairing I have with the LinkBuds is that they do NOT support multi-point pairing. So, while you can pair the LinkBuds to multiple devices, you can only pair to ONE at a time. This means you can't pair to your computer and phone at the same time, which is annoying when working from home. == AUDIO QUALITY == The LinkBuds are an open-back earbuds, which is really cool and unique. If you have owned/used open-back headphones, you know that the audio quality is very different compared to closed-back, giving you a wider soundstage. Does Sony duplicate that with open-back earbuds? Kind of. Any music with vocals and isn't too bass heavy will sound really good, but won't really be as loud as I would like. This makes sense, since the LinkBuds are meant to allow you to listen to your music/audiobooks/calls WITHOUT blocking out the world. You should be able to hear both your content and what's going on around you. Combined with the IPX4 rating, and the LinkBuds are quite possibly my favorite earbuds for outdoor cycling/jogging/etc. How do they compare with other earbuds? Honestly, it depends on what I'm doing. If I'm just going to be at home listening to music and don't want to ear headphones, I would probably use something other than the LinkBuds. The LinkBuds have good audio quality, but not the best, especially if you like music with a decent amount of bass. The open-back design really hurts the listening experience if you want bass (even with the EQ's "bass boost"). Despite the LinkBuds not having the best audio quality I've heard from earbuds, they are my go-to earbuds for not only outdoor activities, but for working from home as well. The LinkBuds are VERY small and have a non-flashy design, which means they don't stand out in a professional setting. Instead of using garbage laptop speakers, or unprofessional-looking headphones, the LinkBuds are fantastic. The audio quality is good, and the mic quality is even better. Everyone said I sounded very clear and the volume was "just right". == BUILD QUALITY & BATTERY LIFE == While the LinkBuds may not be my favorite earbuds for overall audio quality, they are without a doubt the most comfortable pair of earbuds I have ever used. I honestly wouldn't blame anyone for forgetting they were wearing them if their audio was paused/off for an extended period of time. The charging case is TINY. Its small size may be the reason why it doesn't support wireless charging, which is a bummer. Thankfully, it does have a USB-C port for charging, so there's no need for a separate cable to carry around with you. Both the case and earbuds are made from recycled plastic, which gives them a very unique texture and appearance. It may not be for everyone, but I like the speckled look of the white LinkBuds and case. Sony claims that the LinkBuds will give you up to 5.5 hours of listening on a full charge, with an the case providing enough recharging to give another 17.5 hours. This will really be up to how you're using the LinkBuds, but I am averaging a little over 5 hours with volume somewhere between "low" and "medium". If you're using the LinkBuds at your desk, I would just put the LinkBuds in the charging case during breaks to get enough battery life for the full work day. == BOTTOM LINE == If you want a pair of earbuds with a VERY unique look, excellent comfort, and need to hear your surroundings, then the Sony LinkBuds are worth checking out. If you value audio quality above all else (and can or want to ignore your surroundings), then I wouldn't recommend the LinkBuds. I feel that Sony decided that the order of priority for the LinkBuds were: not blocking out your surroundings > comfort > audio quality. This isn't a bad approach to designing earbuds, but it's not going to be for everyone.
