I have realized that I have been looking for wireless headphones that allow outside sound in. I had been using AirPods Pro, but had tried all kinds, even trying the bone conduction type (they weren't bad, but sound just wasn't great). So these were right up my alley.
Thus far they have been fantastic. In my ears they're quite comfortable, and seem to be about as well situated as my AirPods Pro (which are by far the most comfortable and best fitting of any other TW headphones I've tried). They're so comfortable I fell asleep with them in last night... although at some point they did fall out into my bed, but I didn't expect them to remain in place overnight.
The sound is pretty good too. That is true for both the music/audio they output, as well as the clarity of the microphones. They don't seem to leak sound like most open back headphones tend to do. Though it should be noted that they also don't seem to get super loud either. But that might be a matter of perception since outside noise is being let into the ear still.
As I've seen mentioned elsewhere, the bass isn't as strong as headphones that are the typical bud type. But that was something I expected simply because of the design. I have plenty of others that can produce that kind of deep rich bass, and bass wasn't the point of buying these.
Overall I'm incredibly happy with these, and I'm already thinking that I may end up using these over my AirPods Pro. Good work Sony! Glad to see innovation coming from you guys once again!

I really loved them. The look, the slund was great. The speak/pause function work amazingly for my job.
BUT, I wish they came in slightly smaller sizes. The length was just too long for my ear shape and it would start hurting within seconds of wearing them, no matter the size of silicone piece I chose. The left one was also hard to keep in and would pop out after a while.

These are amazing. The sound quality is awesome and they are so light you can hardly tell they are in your ear.
Even better, my ears don't feel stuffed and pressurized and I can hear the world around me. Sony really hit it out of the park with these LinkBuds. But they are not for everyone. It depends on what you are looking for.

I've had these buds for at least 14hours. 1 star is for the originality and the 2nd star is for the 1 perfect fit and the comfort and experience I had with during that time, I was able to sleep in them overnight comfortably, (out of many failed attempts and youtube tutorials.)
Pros:
+I LOVE the concept of no buds in my ears, especially due my sinus issues and pain associated with having plugs in my ears.
+I love the app and the many features and controls
+When I found a perfect fit before bed, I was able to sleep in it and it didn't hurt, like my Samsung buds would. It was very comfortable. The sound was awesome and in that rare 10% moment, I enjoyed them and was hopeful.
Cons
-I could only get a perfect fit once, I've tried all other tips and I couldn't duplicate the fit and they constantly fell out of my ears.
-this doesn't have wireless charging, big no for me, especially for the convenience and charging accessories I've already purchased.
Conclusion
I was looking forward to enjoying this niche market catered to my sensitive ears and sinus issues lol but they have fallen short. I will keep an eye out for future updates/versions that will improve fit and wireless charging.

Hi BriRTM,
While we are glad that you love the open-ring design that naturally blends ambient sound with digital sound and amazing features of our WF-L900 LinkBuds, we are really sorry if they didn't fit you well and if the supplied charging case doesn't support wireless charging function. Please allow us to help you and turn this into a better experience. If you haven't yet, please perform our suggested troubleshooting steps below to isolate and hopefully fix your fit/comfort issue.

Sony Linkbuds are awesome! I think people that leave less than 4 or 5 star reviews are not happy because they don't quite fully understand what they are for. These are not to be used as noise canceling in your ears bass thumping earbuds. These are meant for use at the office or anywhere you still need to be present. I use them at work, home and for studying. Most people never know I have them on.
Sony Linkbuds feel light in your ears and in my opinion have a good sound. I hear bass but not as strong as I would hear it in my wf-1000xm4's. They fit in my ears perfectly. There are several sizes of the rubber wings to help them fit. I also find that if I wear the donut shape a little deeper I can drown out a little more outside noise when I don't have to be as present in my surroundings.
I'm very happy with my purchase. They allow me to tune out whenever I want but still be available. I almost forgot to mention that the call quality is awesome too, people can hear me very clearly. The only thing I have a problem with is battery life. I wish the battery life was longer but with earbuds battery life is sometimes an issue. I think in the future the battery life will get better.
I really feel that the Sony Linkbuds are a good investment as an additional pair of earbuds. These are not noise canceling earbuds so you can't escape the world. As long as you keep this in mind I think you will be very happy with them.

I have tiny ears, and I quite like them, as do several of my coworkers. My wife hates them, as do several other of my coworkers. Had Airpods but they hurt after a couple hours, these I can wear all day at work. The most position-critical headphones I have ever used. When lined up around your ear canal correctly, they sound excellent. Shift them slightly and they are quiet and muffled. Correct positioning really relies on ear shape so these just won't work for some people.

Overall I like the Sony Link Buds. They are comfortable and have good sound, without noise cancelling. They wirk eith my phone (Pixel 6), work phone (iPhone 12 mini), Samsung Android Tablet, and Windows Laptop. Whst they lack is true Multipoint connection, so they won't automatically switch between calls on my phones or even answer the "other" phone without actively switching. I can use only one earbud at a time for cslls, which is a plus.

Hi KlausHergesheimer,
Thank you so much for your review. While we are pleased that you are satisfied with the exceptional sound quality, comfortable fit with open-ring design that naturally blends ambient sound with digital sound, using only one earbud feature, and overall performance of our LinkBuds, we are so sorry if it doesn't support multipoint connection function. The WF-L900 can be paired with multiple devices, but can only play music from 1 paired device at a time. And for the battery life, you may refer to the following link for the available operating time of these LinkBuds: https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/linkbuds/v1/en/contents/TP1000447703.html?search=available%20operating. Please note that the usage hours may be different from the time described on the link depending on the settings for the headset functions and usage conditions.
With LinkBuds, you are always connected with your everyday life. Comfortably wear them around the clock as you hear sounds around you transparently, feeling nothing on your ear, while you remain in touch with people and places, without ever having to pause your personal soundtrack. LinkBuds bridge your daily life and the entertainment you love, wherever you go, whatever you do.
Thank you so much for your purchase and for choosing Sony!

The sound, connectivity and function of these earbuds were all great. But the issue for me is having small ears, is that they would not sit in my ear correctly and constantly popped out. They are very rigid and did not offer much adjust-ability. They are lightweight and you probably could wear them all day.

I purchased these because I cannot have anything inside of my ear canal like regular earbuds. I was using the Galaxy buds live and these fit in my ears and almost the same fashion. The sound is a little bit better and I can definitely say that they're more comfortable after my 10 and a half hours at work. In no way are these going to sound better than standard earbuds they are for very specific people who cannot have things in their ear canal.

Love the open air sound. It’s perfect for calls in the office and has a very supernatural sound to it that I really dig. Music and calls sound like they are coming from within your Brian. Only reason I’m giving 4 stars is I have small ears and I find them kind of uncomfortable or difficult to find a comfortable fit, even with plenty of ear piece options I couldn’t quite find one that fits my ears securely, so I believe I may return them.

Bought these to try out. Didn’t end up keeping them because I preferred my AirPods Pro’s. With that said, they have surprisingly good audio quality at a reasonable price, and if you need to or want to hear the space around you they’re great. Some of their built in features though like the tap to pause and stop during talking weren’t the best. Also had some issues with connectivity occasionally. They were comfortable too.

Hi Josh,
We're glad that you like the sound quality and comfort of the headphones. It's unfortunate that it was already returned. Having the latest software version of the headphones installed is recommended to achieve optimum performance.
Wide area tap is a function that detects vibration around the ears with the acceleration sensors that are built into the headset and determines the tap operations. Therefore, it may be erroneously detected as tapped by actions such as putting on or taking off surgical masks or glasses, and chewing. If the headset often does not operate correctly, this may be improved by using the “Sony | Headphones Connect” app to turn wide area tap off and switch to headset tap instead.
The Speak-to-Chat mode activates when the headset detects the speech of the person wearing the headset, but in rare cases it may activate in response to vibrations caused by devices such as electric toothbrushes, electric massagers, and electric shavers, or by activities such as brushing your teeth, coughing, or humming. In cases where the Speak-to-Chat mode frequently activates by accident, set Speak-to-Chat to “L Sensitivity”.
With the Sony Headphones Connect app, you can set the “Priority on stable connection” to help improve Bluetooth connectivity. Depending on the ambient conditions in the area where you are using the headset, intermittent sound may still occur even if “Priority on stable connection” is selected.
Help guides and troubleshooting articles are also available on our support website: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/wireless-headphones-bluetooth-headphones/wf-l900
Thanks for sharing your review and we hope you consider Sony in your future purchase.

Review from a 90% podcast listener , and 10% music user:
If you need active noise canceling look else where.
If you're a person that doesn't need active noise canceling in your earbuds and wants to always be able to hear your surroundings at all times, these are the one of the best for that purpose. I've used these during my outside jogging sessions nearby a highway and it gets loud enough to still hear my content over the constant traffic, while also allowing me to still hear my surroundings enough.
I'm someone who sometimes has to use two different sized rubber tips with normal earbuds and that issue carries over to these as well, causing one ear (Left) to experience some breaking in period of discomfort, however, after about a week of daily use that is no longer an issue.
Battery life on a single charge is about 5 hours, I'd prefer it to be in the 7-8 range to be on par with most other earbuds I've used.
Lastly, my biggest issue is these buds use only touch controls as it's only form of interaction and as someone with hair that can cover my ears I've noticed that at times the buds will register a touch input, without me actually intentionally doing so, sometimes double taps, which pauses whatever I'm listening to, other times triple taps.
TL;DR Pros & Cons
Pros:
Does what they say they do, offers great open ear sound.
Cons:
If you have long hair it can sometimes register an unwanted touch input.

I am writing this review to warn others about the quality of both these earbuds and that of Sony support. My wife bought these for me for my birthday in September 2023. I recently started noticing that the sound in my left ear bud, then only one I use, was getting quieter and then this weekend, when taking it out of the case, the cover for the speaker completely fell off and the speaker itself fell out of the earbud. I immediately contacted Sony support to see about submitting a warranty claim to have the earbud either repaired or replaced.
After explaining the situation and what happened, they determined, without even looking at them that it is physical damage and flat out refused to cover the earbud under warranty. After going back and forth with the support person and offering to send pictures they said they would escalate and someone would call me back the next business day.
There "national customer care" called me today and before even hearing anything the lady tells me the same thing the first person told me. She said they determined this because they have never had a report of the speaker cover falling off and therefore it's not possible for it to happen without it being caused my physical damage. Despite telling them that I have never dropped the earbud and the only place it has been is in the case or in my ear, they refused to accept any other logic besides their own, still without even offering to have me ship the earbud into them for them to inspect it for any physical damage. I explained to the woman, if you look really closely you can see it is just a thin strip of adhesive that holds this piece on to the earbud so for it to fail is extremely plausible. Laughably the woman told me that, "While it will not change our decision I could send them pictures for their engineering team to review." Ultimately they refused to even look at them under warranty despite it probably costing them pennies to replace the adhesive.
I am severely disappointed in both the quality of these earbuds and mostly the quality of Sony support and their warranty. I will also never believe in any warranty that Sony promises for any of their products ever again and I would caution anyone else considering their products to expect to not have any warranty coverage or have to fight for the warranty coverage. At this point I now have a $200 pair of earbuds that I can only use the right one with and, as for someone who is deaf in their right ear, these earbuds are essentially completely useless to me.
Will be going back to my JVC Nearphones which are several years old at this point, were cheaper and when I had a problem with one charging, they actually honored their warranty and sent me a new pair.

I am still a little unsure of these earbuds I've always had very good luck with Sony products I do like the fit and feel and that I can still hear my surroundings I also have bone conduction headphones also lets ambient sound in but these earbuds do go in your ear canal but they only block about 10 to 15% of the sound roughly. They are very light! The tapping the side of your face feature seems to work very well for the most part but certain things do trigger it accidentally eating something will trigger it sometimes. The only real grape I have with these earbuds as with other earbuds is the battery life but if you keep the case with you they can easily get you through the day under normal conditions I do not listen to music a whole lot mostly use them for calls at work. Does take a little effort in time to understand how they fit your ears and to figure out which of the rubber rings are the right size for you I do not have large ears fairly normal I would say but I had to use the medium size. I found out that the trick is not to try to force the speaker into your ear canal but to keep the earbud as flat as possible and straight up basically just like the picture shows in the instructions. I do have to say if you are buying earbuds turkey for listening to music they do fine but if you're in a noisy environment you will not like these earbuds. Overall I think Sony is on the right track if they can just figure out a way to make the volume louder to overpower the ambient noise if need be!

Hi Wayne
We regret to hear the LinkBuds didn't meet your expectations and you're having issues with the Bluetooth connection, fit, and the battery power does not last long. The LinkBuds may fall out or feel uncomfortable during use if you don't wear the LinkBuds properly or the ear fitting supporters are not correct for your ears.
• As a suggestion, to reduce discomfort while wearing the headset, try to change the fitting supporters to another size that fits your ears better and feel more comfortable. The size of the left and right fitting supporters may be different. We recommend starting with the larger sizes and working your way down to the smaller sizes until you find the best fit. • Check that you are wearing the headset properly in your ears.

They have a feature that if you talk the volume music goes down,if you want to enjoy full sound you must use both pods or it will be low but good for people who works, for call's sound is pretty good, battery just last 3-4 hours depending on the volume and calls

Mediocre, at best. Sound quality is overall disappointing, little to no background noise cancellation, ok for calls, but music is just a let down, and it doesn't seem to be because of the open design. The volume just doesn't provide and there's essentially no bass. Choose something else - I recommend the Samsung buds that look like a kidney bean, they're great, and also don't "clog" your ears.

Hi zippyzap,
We're sorry to hear that this unit failed to meet your expectations. If the headset is not worn properly in your ears, tap operations or Speak-to-Chat speech detection may not work correctly, or you may not obtain the correct sound qualities or call performance. If the part of the headset where sound is output is not oriented correctly toward the ear canal, the sound quality may sound poor or the left and right sound localization may sound misaligned.
You may also download the Sony | Headphones Connect app to adjust the sound quality and settings depending on your preference.

The sound terrificaly clear! However because of the open ear design, there is no bass whatsoever. I got these for the gym and running but I prefer great sound for my music so I returned them. If you are looking for great podcast earbuds I highly recommend them.

Hi Brian,
We regret to hear if you find the LinkBuds sound quality poor and it hasn't performed to your standards. Allow us to help you and turn your experience around. If the headset is not worn properly in your ears, you may not obtain the correct sound qualities or call performance. If the part of the headset where sound is output is not oriented correctly toward the ear canal, the sound quality may sound poor or the left and right sound localization may sound misaligned.
You can also make few adjustments to your headphones settings to suit your needs. We recommended that you've downloaded the Sony Headphones Connect app. This will give you more control over your headphones and their performance.
We are sorry to hear that the headphones had to be returned. We hope that you will shop Sony again in the future. Thanks again for sharing your feedback.
Sincerely, Jess

This is a good product. I wanted it to work so bad. Alas did not fit my ears and had to return. It fit well in the left one, but kept falling off the right. The attempt to push it back in hung up many a calls.
This is the only good product in the market that will make you feel like you are not wearing toilet plungers in your ears. I'll give it that. Would love to see this product evolve.aybe I'll buy the second gen.
Could never test out how long the battery lasts, coz I could not keep these in the ear for that long because it kept hurting the ears that much.
This is by no means a product that claims to be the best in the class sound or whatever. but the sound was good crisp clear. On the highest volume, a person w feet away to listen to the song.

Hi Patsy,
While we're glad you like the open-ring design and amazing audio, we regret to hear if an earache occurs when putting on our WF-L900 LinkBuds and they did not fit you well causing them to fall out. This is definitely not the customer experience we want you to have. The LinkBuds may fall out or feel uncomfortable during use if you don't wear the LinkBuds properly or the ear fitting supporters are not correct for your ears.
• If you feel the size of the fitting supporters does not fit your ears, change the fitting supporters to another size that fits your ears better. The size of the left and right fitting supporters may be different. • Check that you are wearing the headset properly in your ears. • If you wear the headset for a long time, your ears may start hurting. Use the headset while taking breaks periodically.
It's unfortunate that the unit had to be returned. We hope that you will shop Sony again in the future. Thanks again for sharing your feedback.
Regards, Jess

I have had plenty of wireless earbuds and these deliver the sound that I'm looking for. The only issue I have with them is the lack of bass, but music is still crisp and accurate and I still get the ability of being aware of my surroundings without it sounding artificial or enhanced. They have excellent battery life and charge fast. I honestly have no serious complaints.
