This MP3 player has much better sound quality than others I have heard. The earbuds even have decent sound and that's without rubber ear cups that make a better seal. Battery life is good, probably about 10 hours or so. Good FM reception also. Only 2 complaints with this unit, but nothing major. To turn the unit on you hit any button. This can be done accidentally, so you need to be careful or you will have a dead battery when you go to use it. The other complaint is when you turn it on, it is automatically in lock mode. So you have to hold the unlock button for 2 seconds to unlock. My 1st Sony MP3 had a manual slide switch to lock and unlock which I liked much better. Just minor annoyances, but I would buy again as I am on my 3rd Sony mp3. Sat on the 1st and cracked the screen, lost the 2nd one (which I have now found). Be careful around water, I got just a few drops of water on my first one at the beach and it wouldn't work for several days. Overall, very good mp3 players!

I like Sony mp3 players. I got this NWZ-E385, hoping it would be newer and improved over my old e354. Not so much. The sound quality is good, the build is solid, and it seems adequate for its main purpose (music playback). The fm radio is also good. This model seems (to me) to be a step back in functionality compared to the e354. I listen to music, but my main use of the mp3 player is listening to downloaded podcasts. There is no dedicated hold switch (that prevents accidental change in status). It is now part of the on-off/options/hold switch. There is no function that pauses songs or podcasts while you switch to radio or another program; then be able to return to the first one and pick up where you left off. You can pause and power off and return to the same item but you cant leave a podcast midway to start another. You either finish the first one or restart it from the begining. The e384 comes with a media organizer application for the pc which I assume will assist you with your music library but I choose to manage my own manually. Using Windows explorer, I can add and remove files and folders and create playlists. Functionality is not intuitive for an inexperienced user. You can create a folder for podcasts and select them that way. (same with music genres or groupings). It does seem to fast forward faster than the older model. Maybe I'll like it more with increased use. I'm still favoring my older one for now.

    Perfect Starter MP3 Player

I got this for my young niece who wanted an mp3 player - but for whom I didn't want to buy the top of the line numbers because she might drop it and then that would be a very sad day and I'd be out hundreds of dollars. So this was a great choice - nice price, easy to use, plenty of room for a beginning music lover's collection. The sound is good through the included ear buds or other headphones you might have around. Great starter mp3 player!

    Outstanding Battery Life!

Pretty straight forward and as the summary title says, outstanding battery life. I used it for 3 days (approx. 5 hours a day) and still showed about half full charge. The only downside I can point out is that when playing music in a folder and you reach the last song, it doesn't automatically move to another folder. Not a really big deal, and possibly can be overcome by using a playlist. I personally don't care for the earphones that come with the player, but someone else may prefer the included style.

Pros: Lightweight, portable, intuitive interface with good color options. Fair pricing. Can handle other media including pictures, videos. Cons: Does not transfer protected AAC format, so about 50% of my songs from iTunes will not transfer to this device. Other: I don't have much of an issue with the Hold feature. It's convenient but your have to take it of Hold every time you wake it from sleep mode. I also, surprisingly, love the alarm clock feature that plays your playlist in the morning! It motivates me to wake up.

    Great Walkman Model (8GB)

This model has sufficient memory to store many albums of music along with photos and short movie clips. You also have the convenience of an FM radio tuner and a very usable set of controls. The function of finding songs or photos is very intuitive and easily selected. I recommend at least the 8GB model over the 4GB.

Nice mp3 with a great price. Lightweight and charges fast. It also holds the charge for a good amount of time. Wish there was better case options but not a big issue. Easy to add music .

This was my son's first MP3 player of his own. I've used Apple products in the past and love them but an iPod is too expensive compared to this that does everything an iPod does. He uses it daily and loves it.

It's a nice looking player, sounds good, great options but the battery does not last very long. If I use it a full day I need to recharge it. Does not have good battery life at all. Otherwise a good MP3 for the money.

This is the third Sony player we've purchased and all three are still working reliably...the first one is four years old. All get used daily by teenagers. The players are well-featured and very easy to use. Battery life is good; not fantastic, but what battery is? These are relatively expensive, but if you need a player that will last and are tired of buying $20 players that last three months, these are well worth the initial cost.

This MP3 player was very easy to use. It has 8GB which was one of my reasons for buying. It was nice to have the FM radio. Sony made a nice MP3 which probably took care of a wide range of people. Nice and compact. As of right now I have not had any problems with it. Thanks Sony!

    Could Be Better

First I would like to say that it was cheaper online than it was in the store so I had to ask for an adjustment. No big deal. So I read the reviews but here is some information that I don't think I saw any say until AFTER I bought it and read the instructions or messed around with it. Most are minor gripes but I think everyone should be aware. 1. My biggest pain, it supposedly does not charge in a car usb port. It only charges when hooked to a computer and it also does not come with a wall charge (that looks like it can be bought for extra). It does come with a cable to connect it to the computer though. Something my old unit does as well which I was hoping I was getting away from. 2. The cable, it is USB to mini USB.....which means you have an extra cable and your phone cable just won't do because most phone cables are USB to Micro USB. Thanks Sony. Something I was thinking I was getting away from on my 15 year old unit with a proprietary plug. 3. When it is charging from the computer you can not play the device. When connected to the computer it does charging and allows you to move files to it. Again same as my 15 year old unit. 4. You can only delete the contents of the MP3 when connected to a computer. Can not delete directly from the MP3 device. 5. Pretty much bought this device to play some tunes while working in my garage, which I hook up to a powered speaker system on a shelf. Since the headphones come out of the bottom, I can not stand the MP3 up on a shelf and instead have to lay it on its side. 6. Took more than what was reasonable to learn the controls and I still find it hard to do exactly what I want. The buttons also seem to think I pressed something else but so sometimes I have to do over what I was after. 7. Playing songs, There are several options on the order to play the songs and you can also make a playlist. Only thing it doesn't do is remember the last song it played when it shuts off. I thought I could finally get away from this with my old 15 year unit, guess not. So I guess I should have just stayed with my older unit. Over 15 years old and this is the best Sony can do, something that was already done 15 years ago. Only thing this one can do which the other can't, play FM stations. Overall, it is newer, it has a bigger capacity, the software is better, stays charged a lot longer and charges quicker, but I'm disappointed that actual functionality has not gotten better over the years.

Bought this for my 8 year old daughter. She finds it very easy to use and navigate. Feels solid and very durable. At 8GB it holds all her music and still hasn't reached the half mark. I upload the music for her on my desktop through Media Player, as stated in the instructions. I do find that part rather trying as I have uploaded my music on there several times by accident however, I believe this is due to Media Players software and not the walkman. Overall, very pleased with this. Far better buy than an Ipod and will probably look at purchasing one for myself when time to replace my Ipod.

My son requested an mp3 player so he can have all his favorite tunes. This was the perfect choice with Sony being so reliable. With the lack of WiFi in his everyday world this was a better option to an iPod touch. He loves the color and having a Walkman. What's not to like having hit music everywhere and anytime no streaming needed just change the station. The only negative is we can't figure how to only have presets channels (as opposed to having to scan though them all.) When he leaves it home I often borrow it, don't tell!

Hello melo! Thank you for sharing your experience with this unit, as per the issue described for the presets we suggest to try the next steps to save them: 1 - Select the desired frequency to be saved 2- Press and hold the PLAY/PAUSE button to save it. Once this process is done the number for the preset will show below the radio frequency selected it will allow you to have up to 30 stations saved.~ Jeannette Sonystyle

Sony Walkman Mp3 players are the best brand available. I currently own 3 of them and I use them EVERY day for at least 6 hrs a day. Battery will last several days before needing recharge. Other cheaper brands that I have purchased didn't even last a year. Easy to transfer music using windows media player.

My wife had an I-Pod and it was not very user friendly. So after reading reviews, researching other players, the Sony Walkman sounded and looked like a good choice. Bought one for each of us and are very happy with our choice. Easy to use, good sound and easy to load all my music thru my laptop.

If you can't get an iPod, this is the next best thing. Easy to use & quality sound. The added bonus is you don't have to use stupid iTunes to load songs. That's the one true advantage of this MP3 player.

I just wanted a nice MP3 music player that is easy to operate and doesn't have a bunch of features that I'll never use. This model fit my needs very well. The sound quality is amazing. The earphones that came with it were kind of hard, so I bought a set of headphones that are comfortable to use and the sound quality was even better. I'm very happy with this player..
