Had to grab a new mic because the lapel that worked didn't have a clip and the one that did... well, you know. Where else but Best Buy as the number one stop for a hard to find item? Even during sound check, I could tell this was going to be something special. My last shoot with it was a group of three in a six' spread and the audio was good- none of the empty room effect most mikes would have. Thought maybe it would come with a windscreen, but don't think it did.

I also bought a more expensive mic ($65.00) in addition to this Sony. I have a tape recorder that I use to dictate my notes at work. Once I'm done, I download the audio to my Dragon Naturally Speaking software to transcribe my notes. This Sony Mic worked great and it picked up my voice clearly so that the software was able to recognize my spoken words. The other more expensive mic did not do a very good job so I'm very happy with my Sony Mic. Highly recommended.

Picks up everything I need and do not need to shout. Very helpful so I don't need to hold the recorder to my mouth.

Purchased this mic to work with my iPhone 7 to record audio for my YouTube channel. No matter what I tried could not get it to work, tested it out with my Samsung Note 8 and it worked well but audio not the best. Went with the Insignia omnidirectional mic instead and it has worked charms.

For the most part, when using the Sony PX, I didn't need this microphone. But on those occasions when I am talking directly into the mic in a noisy environment, it is a Godsend. You could use it to record audio for a YouTube video by clipping it to your camera strap. If you want to be semi-stealthy, it is small enough to attach to your shirt ALMOST unobtrusively. The quality of sound is good.

It is omni directional so it can take other noises too but it is a good quality over all.

This mic is fine for clipping onto your shirt. It only picks up other people if you are sitting very near (less than three feet away) and they are speaking loudly. I would consider another mic in the future unless I have better results. Only used twice to date.

Wanted to make a cassette tape recording. The guy at BB immediately showed me this and informed me that it would override the built in mic on the cassette recorder. It did and the sound quality improved dramatically. Thank you

Decent mic for the price. If you are just doing Zoom calls and simple things like that this is a great mic. It will improve your overall production value.

I bought two of these mugs. They pick up sound good, and they seem to also work well as far as picking up stray sounds in other room. My neighbors make a lot of noise apparently when they are feeling amorous. So I’ve completely changed the purpose of these mikes. I surreptitiously record the sounds of loving in other rooms. So thanks Best Buy!

Got this so we could hear my brother-in-law talk when he could only talk in a very low whisper due to parkinsons. Wish I would have thought of it sooner. If you use it for this purpose, after attaching to a voice recorder you should turn up the volume up to hear what they were trying to say. Can also be used for recording genology stories. Works good with those with little ability to speak loud enough to hear.

Clipped t on to my jacket, and it worked well from the first instant. Just had to adjust the volume a bit downward on the voice recorder, as the microphone picked up sound quite well. Even worked in damp atmosphere so far.

One of the complaints many people have when using GoPro is the audio quality. I have the GoPro 6 and bought the adapter for an external microphone. Just plug this mic into the adapter and you will enhance the audio portion of your videos. BestBuy should locate these in the isle with the GoPro cameras. They should also sell the adapter in the store.

I have attached this to my GoPro Hero3+ Black, it is WAY better than the internal microphone, and it captures sound around the GoPro instead of directly in front of it. I highly recommend this as an external microphone. (you will need an OEM adapter, as some 3rd party ones wont work)
