Could be better. Too expensive for what you get.

I really wanted to like these headphones, I've been waiting for them for months. I wanted the simplicity of connecting something and using them, with the surround sound and great quality mic, however after wearing them for a two days straight. I realized that they needed a lot more to be platinum grade headphones. First of all, they are uncomfortable, a lot, I'm an adult and my head it's not that big, so it's not like I was pushing them to the limit, I'm thinking it has to do with the design because the materials are high quality and soft. They are designed in a way where the earcups are fixed, they don't move or adjust to the shape of your head, so when you put them on, they push up against your head. I could only have them on for about 10 minutes before removing them. I can't really say how good the Mic is, my friends said they heard me clear and better than then old PX5's that I had. Sound..... gosh, although they are better than the gold edition and you can customize the audio, it was extremely lacking that boom from the bass, which is surprising because I have another set of Sony headphones (xb950bt) which are for my mobile, and they have much more bass in normal mode than the platinum ones. I just felt that it needed a lot more and I was paying too much for what I was getting. I decided to look for more options and found that bestbuy sells the turtle beach 800 refurbished, for much less, so I ordered those and compared. The difference is night and day, with the turtle beach coming out on top on every category, they even have a charging cradle which the platinums don't have, and can connect to Bluetooth so you can answer calls. A much better deal in my books. I tried the 3D sound with uncharted, but honestly it sounds much better with the 800 elite

I bought these as soon as they were available expecting to be impressed. They are labeled PLATINUM after all. I was immediately disappointed. The connection issues began as soon as I turned them on. They disconnected if I was more than five feet from my PS4. They would randomly disconnect constantly. You cannot charge these and use them at the same time. They're not nearly as comfortable as the Gold version. Ok the plus side the buttons that control game and chat volume are much easier to use than on the Elite Headset. They sound amazing and are comfortable once you break them in. After all is said and done these headphones are nice but not worthy of the price tag and especially unworthy of the Platinum name.

This headset is pretty good but I don't see much difference with the Gold headset. The packaging is awesome and offers a nice carry bag for your headset. Comfort wise though, the gold headset feels a lot better to me. The platinum feels too tight. Not much difference in sound quality from the gold. I don't like that the platinum has bendable hinges. Feels like it could break easier than the gold. The gold headset has no hinges. I had the gold headset and gave those to my son after purchasing the platinum. If I had to do it over again, I would purchase the golds over the platinums.

The Platinum Wireless are lightweight and comfortable for me even after a few hours of use. Additionally they do not interfere with the use of glasses and also fit well with the PSVR. While I did like the mids and highs of the default sound I found that for some games and music I needed to change it with the equalizer or presets to add bass. I was able to do this satisfactorily. The 3D sound found on very few games (I tried MLB 2017 the Show and Unchartered 4) was good but not a must have. The VSS setting I felt weakened the sound and thus I turned that off frequently. While not a match for high end headphones or even mid level gaming headsets I would recommend these if available at a discounted price of $119 or less.

If reviews are searchable by person you'll see I've reviewed several headsets. I'd put these right in the middle. Above the gold's in durability. Below anything in the 200 range and hey that's the way it should be. If you own a vr and looking for something mid range go for these. Looking for something budget friendly go the gold's for wireless or Astro a10s if not. If you want the best go Astro a40s or the a50s.

Default sound quality is great. I downloaded the headphone app and applied a few different themes but found them all either lacking or annoying with exaggerated bass or highs. Removed and went back to default and I'm happy. 3D sound is nice - especially with the PSVR The mic is pretty bad though. Voice sounds really tinny. I have a really deep voice and folks say when I use the mic I sound high pitched. Haven't had it long enough to comment on the construction. It's really confortable but I'm suspect of the hinges on the ear cups. Hoping they don't break

I've had the headphones for a few weeks now, but only been able to use them a few times as my 45 day old PS4 had software issues from the day I opened it. When I did use the headphones they sounded great, my only issues were that the range is extremely short, outside of the living room and connected kitchen they don't work. They also don't have a movable microphone, so if I eat or drink anything, regardless of what it is, it's very loud for everyone else in the party. However they are easy to mute but that doesn't work in a game.

I had the original PlayStation golds and they finally wore out so I stepped up to the platinums. These are basically the original golds with a higher price and not as comfortable to wear. If I could find an old school set of golds I would buy them in a heartbeat. The sound is still awesome and I have no complaints there but after wearing them for about an hour I start getting a headache from the top strap.

Ultimately returned these and upgraded to a more expensive set, but my time with these was really enjoyable. Sound quality was nice for the price tag, but my only complaint was the microphone quality. This headset could really benefit if it had a microphone with boom option.

I've gone through three of these, one of which was defective. The sound is good in terms of the highs and mids but the bass is sorely lacking, despite having 50mm drivers. The virtual surround sound is great, and while I've played some of the games that supports the 3D audio, I barely can tell the difference. I would say wait until these are at $100

Good headset for at least an hour or so after that not so much. It starts to give you pain on top of your head and starts to aerate your ears too. Sound is good and so forth. But when it comes to the comfort zone not so much! I ended up returning it to get the redesign PS4 Gold headset once there out in a week or so.

The sound just isn’t as good as something you’d expect a $160 product to put out. Aside from the sound though, the mic is integrated into the earcup which means a few of your friends will always complain that it sounds like your mic is far away or that your voice is muffled.

Purchased this and the Arctis 7 to compare. While the Sonys we made well, sounded good, and were VERY easy to set up, they were a little bulky (dorky) looking, and the mic sounds like your in a tunnel, due to it being built-into the headset

Performance is decent, build quality is great. I feel the adjustability of the highs, mids, and lows is lacking the range I would like. Still the ability to track my head movement in VR games adds another layer of immersion that justifies the excessive cost.

Finally trying something besides turtle beach. Liked the no boom mic feature and chat worked great but for surround sound in game my set was horrible. Everything sounded like it was behind you. Went back to turtle beach again

The headset is okay. It's not as comfortable over long periods of time as the original Sony golds, also I don't think the sound quality or battery life is any better. It is a decent wireless headset but definitely overpriced!

It works pretty well. I’m not completely satisfied with the volume buttons and would prefer more volume levels. Also there seems to be a popping sound that happens occasionally that I can’t believe happens. Pretty annoying

You think spending $160 on a playstation head set you wouldn't need to connect a USB but you do sounds the same as the gold and the 3d audio is just mono wouldn't use but I do like the build and it is more comfortable

I returned these for the cheaper version. The only difference is that the Platinum version has a slightly longer range when leaving the room. Also, the usb receiver breaks easily so don't drop it.

These are a good pair of cans. The control buttons are awkward and take some getting used to. Wish that Sony would have made a headset that connected directly to the PS4. Instead of having to use a stupid dongle.
