Customers are saying

Customers love the PlayStation Classic Console's affordable price and the inclusion of two controllers, finding it easy to use and a nostalgic trip down memory lane. However, many are disappointed with the limited game selection and some have noted issues with the emulation quality. The compact size is also a frequently praised feature.

Okay so first off, it just doesn't hold up to the Nintendo versions of these cheap nostalgic rom players. It doesn't have fan service wrapping or the best game lineups and that will always hold it back. BUT At the price these are now going for (under $30) there's a lot to like esp if you do some youtubing and figure out how to add games to the console. At the price it is a nice little legacy box to keep around some of your favorite games that are harder and harder to find these days.

Game selection could be better, not as nostalgia rich as other mini consoles, but still some solid games at the reduced price

This is a great console with a few good select games. I do, however, wish there was either a different selection, or a way to maybe update the system to get new games. Out of the 20 games on there, we may have played 6 or 7 of the games. There are other systems of the same type that are less expensive that come with more games. I do however love the nostalgia and they kept the games the same.

I thought the design of the hardware was excellent. I thought they did just as good of a job as Nintendo did with their classics. But Sony has 2 things that go against them here. First is that the generation of games that came on that console didn't age well at all. Second, most of the games they put on it were not the games that really defined that console's legacy. However there are some games that make it worth the purchase as long as you are paying for the current $59 price.

I really had no intention of purchasing this mini classic system when it first came out. The original price was $100, and quickly reduced to $60. Most recently, the price came down to $20. At that price, it's a good deal. Compared to other mini systems, this system is kind of a lack luster attempt. Sony didn't put their best games on it. Don't get me wrong, there are a few solid titles. They also didn't put any effort into the user interface when navigating through the menus to pick a game. These systems are all about nostalgia, so it's kinda important to accompany the mini system design and retro games with a simple old school background photo/video and some related music. Even if it is just a decoration in my game room, it was the right price to pick it up!

This mini system is awesome. However it could have had a much better line up of games. Even though I love having it in my collection. If you can pick one up for cheap definitely do. People may bash it but form your own opinion. The quality of the case and controllers are top notch and it is a perfect replication of the psx. I've got a huge television though so I wish cables were longer. To remedy that I did get a Bluetooth dongle so I can use all my controllers with it.

When this system came out a year ago, it was a major disappointment. However, it was tough not to pick one up for $20. The games that come on the system are kind of lackluster, but with gems like Syphon Filter, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, Twisted Metal, and Tekken, there is enough here to warrant a purchase. I would have loved to have seen Crash, Spyro, and Gran Turismo in the library but you'll have to relive those games back on the original PS1.

I got this as a gift for a friend's birthday present. We grew up playing all the old school PlayStation games do when I saw this I had to get this to surprise her with it. It's very small compared to the original PlayStation. It's very light and easy to hook up. It has a lot of games already installed and comes with two controllers. Overall, super great and fun gift.

There are a few games on this console that are worth exploring such as MGS, Resident Evil and Final Fantasy. Sony really missed the mark on this one. This could of been a quick cash grab if effort was put in. Got this for $40 which is a decent price for it but truly should be $20.

I'm a sucker for the 'classic' retro gaming systems like this, and aesthetically, this lives up to everything you'd want out of the PlayStation classic. The only thing I'd mention is that the game selection could have been better and more 'classic'. It's a daunting task to select just a few but some of the choices Sony made are a bit questionable. Still, a great classic system!

I grabbed a couple of these on sale for $20. It's well worth that price, but I wouldn't pay the original price when they were first released. I was never a huge fan of the earlier PS systems, but this is a nice system to round out my collection of similar retro consoles by Nintendo, Sega, and Atari. Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy IV are the highlights. The interface is friendly and the emulation seems to work well.

If you got it for cheap on the recent sale then you made a fine purchase. Patience was key for this one.. as this thing pretty much sucks on it owns, but with a little youtube search you can learn on how to hack it and unlock the 60hz option for the console. You can also mod it and add more games, again youtube is your friend here. For $20 this thing is worth having.

Many people are saying this emulator's performance is subpar, let alone the mediocre library Sony included. And they're right; however, if you enjoyed at least half of these guys, I would recommend getting this little system when the price finally comes down to 50 bucks or below.

The hardware and controllers are great design and very retro of the original. However the performance is slow for some games and the loading time is annoying. Plus the selection of games is so-so. A lot of great games from the PlayStation era were not included.

Bought this to satisfied nostalgia craving. Works alright, but after playing a few games, it ended up back in its box. Looking back, it probably wasn't worth the 40 sale price I got it for, but I used a combo of gift cards + rewards, so wasn't too bad in the end. I could only recommend it if it's on a deep sale (like 20) and/or if you really wanted to try one of the 20 preinstalled games.

It didn't sell too well at a very high price. So i waited for the price to drop down low, like very low. But i decided to bite at 20. Thought the games were worth a buck per games. I didn't like the fact there were no power adapter with the mini classic. At 99 bucks originally it should had come with a power adapter. Not sure if i would play the classic, but for now it looks good just sitting on the shelves collecting dust. Im a fan and loyal gamer to sony games and console. I think the games that had come preinstalled on the classic was great but there was only a few that i like. Not all of them made me wanted to buy the classic. The controller are nice and feels so nostalgic seeing the mini console and controllers. Overall i like it knowing i bought it at a cheaper lower price. But if you can find the classic at a lower price than 20 then go for it even if its just for display.

I hesitated buying this console when it was first released based on the initial reviews. At the $30 price tag, though, I feel that alone is worth the price of metal gear solid and few other games while still having the console for nostalgia purposes. It's not perfect and there are graphic issues but you can't go wrong with the discounted price.

A Collector's Item in the Making?

Sony tried to jump on the mini-console craze by issuing its PlayStation Classic console in late 2018 for $99.99, but as of this writing the price has decreased 80%. A poor selection of games, some odd choices of 50-hertz PAL games, and garish menus all contributed to this product's doom. With that said, I would expect sales to be poor for this mini console, which usually equates to high resale prices in the future. Time will tell…
