I thought the design of the hardware was excellent. I thought they did just as good of a job as Nintendo did with their classics. But Sony has 2 things that go against them here. First is that the generation of games that came on that console didn't age well at all. Second, most of the games they put on it were not the games that really defined that console's legacy. However there are some games that make it worth the purchase as long as you are paying for the current $59 price.

This little guy brings back old memories. The only thing that kept me from buying it is the price. For double the price you can buy a new PS (on sale though), but it's still great if you want to revive the old days.

It didn't sell too well at a very high price. So i waited for the price to drop down low, like very low. But i decided to bite at 20. Thought the games were worth a buck per games. I didn't like the fact there were no power adapter with the mini classic. At 99 bucks originally it should had come with a power adapter. Not sure if i would play the classic, but for now it looks good just sitting on the shelves collecting dust. Im a fan and loyal gamer to sony games and console. I think the games that had come preinstalled on the classic was great but there was only a few that i like. Not all of them made me wanted to buy the classic. The controller are nice and feels so nostalgic seeing the mini console and controllers. Overall i like it knowing i bought it at a cheaper lower price. But if you can find the classic at a lower price than 20 then go for it even if its just for display.

What's that? The games on the system aren't great? Well, that's fair (and correct) but it's true what they say about these PS Classics. They are shockingly easy to hack and put more games on. Not that I've hacked my or anything...and not that I condone hacking a product you bought, but I've got this odd feeling that Sony didn't even bother locking this down because they knew people would and they wouldn't have to pay the licensing fee. Regardless, the point is, the little system is cute, the controllers feel good (even though its sad they didn't go with dualshocks), and you'll definitely need your own AC adapter. Yeah, it didn't come with one. But you can use a phone charger with micro-usb, so it wasn't the biggest deal for me. Just an odd exclusion.

A Collector's Item in the Making?

Sony tried to jump on the mini-console craze by issuing its PlayStation Classic console in late 2018 for $99.99, but as of this writing the price has decreased 80%. A poor selection of games, some odd choices of 50-hertz PAL games, and garish menus all contributed to this product's doom. With that said, I would expect sales to be poor for this mini console, which usually equates to high resale prices in the future. Time will tell…

I had heard a lot of negative reviews when this first came out so I waited for a heavy sale before purchasing it but I have been pleasantly surprised so far. It definitely has its share of problems (just look at a lot of the earlier reviews) but at a cheaper price point they are as glaring. I read that you can actually hook this up to the computer and fix some of the problems that way too, will be giving that a shot

This mini system is awesome. However it could have had a much better line up of games. Even though I love having it in my collection. If you can pick one up for cheap definitely do. People may bash it but form your own opinion. The quality of the case and controllers are top notch and it is a perfect replication of the psx. I've got a huge television though so I wish cables were longer. To remedy that I did get a Bluetooth dongle so I can use all my controllers with it.

I love this thing as a little PS1 emulation machine. I use it with a software called BleemSync to play other games. It's a lot of nostalgia fun. I wouldn't buy it for the included games though, as the selection is pretty weak.

Main Reasons for 2Two Stars: Limited Function...Restricted use to another Online Gaming Console. Offline Gaming There-in is NOT Offline Gaming. Some AWESOME is Meant to be PRIVATE...like Secrets...can Not do that Online. That is OUTSIDE of Game Hi-Jacking, Game Cheats, Cheat Codes, Game Secrets...and Known Intended Game Use. It tends to be more FUN...when you know Strangers Are Not watching. Seems to function Only when plugged in Playstation Game Consoles...not liking that. From what I know...only a PS4 allows This Device to be functional...possibly a PS3...perhaps a PS2...not certain. Like that requires an Online Capable Device-specifically referencing towards Playstation Game Consoles-only to turn on and function appropriately. Using Online Capable Game Consoles...seems like Online & Offline Gaming is being observed. Unpleasent..., because that is like observing for learning tips & to increase Difficulty to interfere with typical Gaming. Not Liking That...especially being observed while gaming...does not sound pleasent to have someone actively sabotaging your gameplay to give you unnecessary stress-from upon eventually develops Health Issues...especially when things seem to become more difficult than they typically are...like Nonplayable Characters are being remote controlled for added difficulty. MEH. Has built-in Memory Card Space for each Game...I am liking that, because the Playstation's appearence is just For Show [FOR SHOW...Meaning...to be focused on Appearences Specifically, but not quite what that might appear to be represented as]. There seems to be Several many Save Spaces made Available...somewhere between 24 Save-Space-ports...then there shows an opposite side on same screen...insinuating there is another potential 24 Save-Space-ports...so possibly 48 Save-Space-ports per Game on Said PS Game Console. Each game has a separate Save-Space-Port called a Resume Point [Like Auto Save on Checkpoints]. So each Game on Said Game Console has a Guides Connection near the Memory Card Slot. Presumably why that requires an Online Capable Game Console connection to Function appropriately. For that is Linking Guides through the Internet...probably through Official Playstation Networking Channels on Legitimate Pro-Gaming Guides for Said Video Game. Qualities of Said Games are Like Original Releases...with Hi-Definition Link-Up...meaning Clearer Imaging...and Possible Touch-Ups [Touch-Ups...meaning Added Materials and Such]. Each Game has a Controlled Pre-Set made available [Meaning...you have the Option to keep Settings Customized and kept in-play Outside of Saved Games. The hacking/mod scene saved the PS Classic

I have to admit, when the PS Classic was announced, I was not impressed with the lack of games installed in the console. Once the console was released, it recieved mostly negative reviews because of the poor emulation especially at the $100 price point. The PS Classic is at its best when modded, and hacked with more games and the added emulator features included with the hacks. This console is mainly for nostalgia.

    Nice retro set, but unexiciting

For a retro set, its what you'd expect, but the games included really haven't aged well compared to the ones we see on the NES Classic and SNES Classic. Visually the games look low quality, and the few good ones have mostly had better sequels made for newer systems, or revamped with better graphics. The 2D games present on the NES and SNES Classics can get away with looking old, but 3D games just don't fare as well. On the bright side, its very inexpensive now and comes with two fully USB-compatible controllers. Getting the retro experience by using the controllers on a PC is arguably better than on the PS Classic itself. Like the NES Classic, the controller cables are a little short, especially for today's larger TVs which require a greater sitting distance, but being standard USB, extension cords are easier to come by.

I bought this st the right time, when it was I sale for $19.99. For that price, it is worth getting, but Sony really made a mistake on rushing this out and making some bad decisions on the game library included. Besides that, dual shock 1 controllers should have been made for the PS classic, and no power adapter included for the micro usb cord. If those 3 were met expectations, I would have given it 5 stsrs.

I won't rehash the prevailing opinions. Sony definitely could have implemented this better. Heck, they could have easily improved on what Nintendo did but instead, they went the cheap route in terms of the emulation and the UI. I do like the portable size but I really wish that Sony had chosen the slate of games for this system better, especially not choosing PAL games for the North American market. I tried the games and while I like some, many of them were just meh. The only redeeming factor is that Sony chose not to encrypt the OS and it is probably one of the easiest to mod game systems out there. I would say that if you can get this under $25, it is at least worth a look especially if you plan to mod it. Anything over that, you paid too much and if you were an early adopter, you definitely paid way too much!

This is good only if you mod/hack it. The original games that came with this were not worth the original price value $100 It has now decreased to $50, to $30, to $20 which is what it’s worth. The open box is just as great if you want to get it even cheaper! Once you mod it and add games you should be able to get the full classic experience for $20!

As others have pointed out, this is a disappointing product and I am a huge fan of most things Sony. The quality of the console is poor and cheaply built. Looks like something you’d pick up at Dollar General. Even with an HDMI connection the quality of the games do not compare to the original. The colors are washed out even on my high quality flat screen Sony Bravia TV. Forget about trying to read any on screen text. This is a very poor port and obviously a money grab for Sony. I’m really surprised this product passed the Sony Quality standards. Pass this one by! Not worth even $49.99.

I enjoy all these retro console releases but this is probably the worst one - built quality is only so-so and the graphics have not stood up to the test of time very well. However, its still a must buy if you can get it at its more recent $25-30 price tag.

I had brought this months ago at original price but when the sales hit, it was just too low to pass up. I brought one to open. The games are just like I remembered and function just as well. The super slim and small size of the console has high novelty value. For the original price, it probably wasn’t worth it. But once the sales started, this is a very good buy against the small Nintendo ones.

Decent retro console... I like that it came with 2 controllers, but don't like that a plug for the USB power cable wasn't included. Some classic games were included like Twisted Metal, however better versions of these same games (ie: Twisted Metal 2) existed on the same console. Lots of missing titles like Crash, Spyro, etc. At $20 on sale, it was a killer deal. At full price, not so much...

When this was on sale for $19.99 i picked one up. It's a nice little device but it doesn't have a lot of great games in my opinion. But for Final Fantasy 7 and the Resident Evil: Director's Cut I was willing to pay the sale price for this. Be sure to check if you like the games. Also, please note that it comes with a USB cable to plug it in but it does not come with the power adapter brick.

I would recommend this to a friend
