Awesome Retro System with Hours of Fun
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was on the fence, I have digital copies of many Playstation Classic games on a PS Network account which only works on a PS3.. I purchased a PS3 for the sole purpose of playing these games, but, was left desiring more. I returned this system for that system then returned that to re-obtain this. Owning some copies of games that are not present on this system I was pleased to find a way to play backup copies of my already owned games within this device. This little system is great. A+ Sony!

One of the best ideas in this century

Classic product
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nice product with the nostalgic feel. Controllers have good weight. Comes with two controllers and hdmi which is surprising. You would need your own usb wall adapter as it only comes with usb power cord. I end up modifying a 64gb usb stick with PSX/Dreamcast/GBA within Bleem. This can be made into emulator easy!!!!

Love having my PlayStation classic back
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. All my favorite games on a very small console that takes up very little space. It's so fun to go back to the original and play the games that began the 25 year affair I have been in with PlayStation.. I love all PlayStation products but the classic is my favorite.

Nostalgia Impulse
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this mostly to add to my gaming collection and because of the nostalgia of the original system. The quality of the system feels perfectly fine, and the controllers feel like the usual Sony quality. I knew the game selection wasnt great going in, but half of these Ill never even start once, they should have added better quality games. While the hardware seems solid, the software emulation feels very slow and lazily implemented. Hopefully some aftermarket tweaks will make this niche system what it should have been. For the $100 price tag, I can't recommend anyone buy this for anything other than a collectable item.

$100? Meh, $20? Sold!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the initial $100 price tag and with the full lineup being a bit disappointing, I originally dismissed the PS classic as not worth bothering with. Bad reviews further reinforced this when it came out. But for 20 bucks? I figured the hardware alone was worth that. Control sticks would have been appreciated but at least the controllers are good quality. The emulation isn't perfect and the game selection could be better but, again, for $20? I'd say it's worth it at the very least as a collectible. The low price, combined with third party software solutions to some of the system's flaws, makes it easy to give it four stars. If you're not buying it on sale though...meh.

Flashback to the 90s
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m a 90s kid through and through and when I saw the PlayStation Classic I was hit with a massive wave of nostalgia. I was disappointed when the reviews said it didn’t live up to the hype but when the price dropped from 100 to 60 I had no qualms about getting the system. The system itself is so little and adorable but I was disappointed there was no Crash Bandacoot or Tony Hawk Pro Skater since those were games I played religiously as a kid. I also played a lot of WWF Warzone but no one expected that to be on a classic system lol. I don’t play modern systems/games and the last video game system I owned was a GameCube so I was very rusty playing the original PlayStation but a lot was able to come back to me. Am I dissapointed with the game choices? Sure but I had fun playing Resident Evil, Ridge Racer and Final Fantasy. So far I’m really happy with this system and the nostalgic happy feels it gives me.

It's okay
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is okay but only at the $20 price point. It would be 3 or maybe even 2 stars at any other price. The chords are short, the game list is just okay and the over all emulation is just okay. It's easy to hack so that's a plus.

A Mediocre Mini Retro Console
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Playstation Classic was definitely worth it at the $20 price point I got it for on sale, but beyond that its very hard to recommend. The emulation itself is just alright, but gets the job done, and the game list is rather lacking. There are some huge hits such as Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, or Final Fantasy VII, and even some hard to find hidden gems like Intelligent Cube but there is some obvious padding in the list. While obviously it is hard to make a list that will please absolutely everyone, there are some odd ball choices that I think could have been swapped with better options. It is also unfortunate that the controllers lack the analog sticks of future revisions. Makes sense since they want to stick to the original launch but still makes it harder/more annoying to play certain 3D titles.

Good Playstation Nostalgia Trip
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Playstation Classic is a good product for those looking for a Playstation Nostalgia trip, but it feels like it's not created with the amount of love that the competing units from Nintendo were. Emulation of some of the games is a bit shoddy, and I wish the Classic Controllers were Dualshock, not the initial controllers that were offered on the PS1. Missing some classic games, like Crash Bandicoot, Ape Escape (which required Dualshock controller, so I understand it not being included), Spyro, etc. NOTE: You can make this into a 4 star product by adding ROMS via Bleemsync or Autobleem, but that gets you into a new ethical dilemma regarding emulations vs. piracy. For the $20 I paid, it's a no brainer. The Controllers are also PC compatible, which is fun for nostalgic games on the computer as well!

Good Quality - Poor Game Selection
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Now that the price is reasonable, I decided to pick up the PlayStation Classic. I wasn't too thrilled with the game selection but supposedly you can take care of that *wink wink* or just play FFVII till you're tired of it. It comes with two controllers (I'm looking at you Nintendo for the re-release of the Nintendo Classic) but doesn't come with a power plug. You have to use USB and that won't satisfy all users. So weird piece of tech that seemed very rushed for what the PlayStation was.... or perhaps I remember the PSone years differently and yearn really for a PS2 system. Give me Gran Turismo 3 or give me ….. something else. Whatever.

Cool - but temper your expecations
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off - I got this simply for the nostalgia factor. I knew the game selection was very limited. The system and controllers look and feel so cool. It is pretty worthless though without hacking the system. Hack it, add the games you want, enjoy!

Great little console after modding
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the price (20+tax) this console is hard to beat. The first thing I did was mod it to run 300+ games instead of the standard 20. This could easily be a 5-star rating if it came with more games but fortunately it's easy enough to remedy. The price of the console seems to fluctuate between 20 and 60 bucks. As soon as it hits 20 again I'll buy a few more!

Great concept, but horrible as a stock device
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purposely waited until this was being sold for $20 before buying it. The selection of games is rather poor and the cords for the controllers are rather short. However, it is possible to add more games to it unofficially using guides online and a usb flash drive which makes it a much more usable device. Unless you intend to go this route, I would avoid purchasing this for its stock configuration.

Ok now that price is dropping
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this when the price dropped by 40% the game selection isn't the greatest, no USB plug adapter included and emulation isn't the greatest. I dont k I would have given this 4 stars at full price.

Neat & Nostalgic....
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Neat and nostalgic, but I think the choice of games could have been better. Maybe it will be hacked soon so that can happen. Still cool little device.

Playstation deserved better
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In terms of hardware, the Playstation Classic mostly hits the mark. The detail of the Playstation unit itself is wonderfully rendered and genuinely worth keeping on display . Even the plug ends of the controllers are similar to the originals. It's too bad the controllers weren't based on the Dual Shock controllers, but I'm guessing that would have added even more cost to this device. As for software, this is where Sony really disappointed most fans. The selection is baffling as it includes games in series with much better sequels and/or games that don't really exemplify the best of the Playstation era. A lot of this is possibly due to licensing and possibly even porting issues, but surely Twisted Metal 2 should have been on this system versus the original (and I don't know anyone who clamored for Battle Arena Toshinden to make an appearance). Some games are even the PAL (pre-HD TV European television standard) version, which run slower and at a slightly different resolution than NTSC (used in North America and Japan). Though I have warmer, fuzzier feelings for the NES, SNES, and forthcoming Genesis classic systems, I absolutely loved the Playstation era. The lackluster nature of the PS Classic really saddens me, especially when it's clear that it's a better system when modded versus stock.
