The Playstation Classic is a decent little plug and play retro console, but it does have a few issues. For starters the game selection is decent but not perfect for every Final Fantasy VII and Super Puzzle Fighter there is a Cool Boarders game and slowed down versions of GTA (due to it being the European version of the game.). The cable to power on the system can't just plug into the TV it requires a plug, considering that the NES and SNES Classics can both work plugged into the TV it's really comes across as a let down. I would only recommend this if you can tolerate these issues and are a die hard Playstation fan.

It bought this for Metal Gear Solid and that is there only reason to justify purchasing this system. That, and the fact that I bought it for only $19.99. This is a poor outgoing by Sony, for something that clearly should've been a slam dunk. The interface is trash and software is garbage. Again, if you look at the fact that I basically bought Metal Gear Solid for $20 and got a chibi Playstation for free, then it's not too bad. Only buy this thing on sale though.

What could have been a great counter to the NES/SNES classics. It’s a mess of games that they had access to and no care went in to picking what defined that console. Then again they didn’t have the rights. For $20 it wasn’t a bad deal, decent stocking stuffer. Oh and no AC cord?!? what the...

Sony could have made something really great but failed on so many things just looking through other reviews you can easily tell what they are. Game list is poor, gameplay is poor. Only positive I can give it is that it looks really cool and the controller is an authentic ps1 that’s about it. Not recommended.

Having purchased a similar product before, I had high hopes for Playstation Classic. What should have been another nostalgic trip down memory lane, resulted in frustration and disappointment. The mini console itself is a tiny replica of the original. the controllers were an area of disappointment. I don't understand why they couldn't include the original dual shocks. Some of the game played better with analog sticks. The games themselves run slower than their original counterparts. The game menu interface is pretty accessible. The game selection itself is pretty great. However, due to the slow gameplay, it doesn't really matter the game selection, if they're all going to play poorly. This seemed like a quick cash grab from Sony. I hope that they have greater success with the PS2 classic... if they decide to launch it.

There were so many other games that should have been on this classic system. Picture quality is horrible on some of the games. Does not come with a power block (just a usb). Looks just like the first PS, great details, but what is inside the system could have been a lot better...if u want retro gaming, go with the classic Nintendo series.

Main Reasons for 2Two Stars: Limited Function...Restricted use to another Online Gaming Console. Offline Gaming There-in is NOT Offline Gaming. Some AWESOME is Meant to be PRIVATE...like Secrets...can Not do that Online. That is OUTSIDE of Game Hi-Jacking, Game Cheats, Cheat Codes, Game Secrets...and Known Intended Game Use. It tends to be more FUN...when you know Strangers Are Not watching. Seems to function Only when plugged in Playstation Game Consoles...not liking that. From what I know...only a PS4 allows This Device to be functional...possibly a PS3...perhaps a PS2...not certain. Like that requires an Online Capable Device-specifically referencing towards Playstation Game Consoles-only to turn on and function appropriately. Using Online Capable Game Consoles...seems like Online & Offline Gaming is being observed. Unpleasent..., because that is like observing for learning tips & to increase Difficulty to interfere with typical Gaming. Not Liking That...especially being observed while gaming...does not sound pleasent to have someone actively sabotaging your gameplay to give you unnecessary stress-from upon eventually develops Health Issues...especially when things seem to become more difficult than they typically are...like Nonplayable Characters are being remote controlled for added difficulty. MEH. Has built-in Memory Card Space for each Game...I am liking that, because the Playstation's appearence is just For Show [FOR SHOW...Meaning...to be focused on Appearences Specifically, but not quite what that might appear to be represented as]. There seems to be Several many Save Spaces made Available...somewhere between 24 Save-Space-ports...then there shows an opposite side on same screen...insinuating there is another potential 24 Save-Space-ports...so possibly 48 Save-Space-ports per Game on Said PS Game Console. Each game has a separate Save-Space-Port called a Resume Point [Like Auto Save on Checkpoints]. So each Game on Said Game Console has a Guides Connection near the Memory Card Slot. Presumably why that requires an Online Capable Game Console connection to Function appropriately. For that is Linking Guides through the Internet...probably through Official Playstation Networking Channels on Legitimate Pro-Gaming Guides for Said Video Game. Qualities of Said Games are Like Original Releases...with Hi-Definition Link-Up...meaning Clearer Imaging...and Possible Touch-Ups [Touch-Ups...meaning Added Materials and Such]. Each Game has a Controlled Pre-Set made available [Meaning...you have the Option to keep Settings Customized and kept in-play Outside of Saved Games. You don't have to reset settings for each Game Save or Any Game Save...just a Standard applied to each Individual Game kept in Synchronization with different Game Saves. Games worth mentioning in Alphabetical Order: 1)Battle Arena Toshinden (2)Final Fantasy VII (3)Grand Theft Auto (4)Metal Gear Solid (5)Rayman (6)Resident Evil [Director's Cut] (7)Revelations: Persona (8)Syphon Filter (9)Tekken3 Three (10)Twisted Metal (11)Wild Arms Games Possibly Interesting in Alphabetical Order: 1) Intelligent Qube (2)R4 Ridge Racer Type 4 (3)Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo [sort of Chibi Street Fighter] (4)Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Other Games available in Alphabetical Order: 1)Cool Boarders2 Two (2)Destruction Derby (3)Jumping Flash! [Interesting...though not yet certain of how interesting] (4)Mr. Driller (5)Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee

right now it is on sale for 59.99. Sony dropped the ball on this one. game selections could have been better. They tried to jump on the Nostalgia bandwagon like NES and SNES reissues but they didn't deliver.

When I pre-ordered this I was super excited; but now that I have received it I am pretty disappointed. I read all of the descriptions before buying to find out all of the information I could before ordering one but all of the information was very vague and didn’t include a full list of the preloaded games so I assumed it would be close to the original just smaller; As a die hard original PlayStation fan I was expecting the super popular games to be preloaded on it like crash bandicoot, frogger, and such and come to find out it does not and the console can only play the 20 preloaded games you cannot play the original discs and you can’t download any other games. Super disappointing

As a PlayStation owner of all their devices, the Classic was going to be an awesome addition, maybe even replace my original PS1 - sadly it was rushed out the door in a very poor state. While the SNES Classic and NES Classic were not completely perfect, they worked well enough for all to enjoy with features a plenty and a library that defined the platform - the PS1 Classic was the complete opposite. With a selection of games that were only half good on the PS1 Classic, too many factors brought even those in question. Some PS1 titles were European versions that run badly and the emulation used for all titles made everything run even worse. The features available are lackluster and the only thing that saves this device is the hacking community but the initial purchase price is too much right now. $100, no. $60, no. $20 - $40 - it's the only time you should even contemplate picking this up. I returned mine after watching Digital Foundry's video review and other PS1 Classic reviews - this device is just not up to snuff and rushed to market to meet Christmas buyers not aware.

I can't believe Sony originally wanted $100 for this thing, the games just run really bad, there is no other way to describe it. I understand these are late 90's 3D graphics which I can deal with but the games just generally run slower and the controls appear to have input lag. I know there is a big mod scene with this system that makes it much better but some of us just want the system to work well out of the box without having to invest additional time into it. Also not packaging the system with a USB adapter is inexcusable, I tried plugging it into the USB port on my TV and Cable Box and still couldn't get it to power on, an iPhone charging block finally did the trick. That being said the system itself is built well, the controllers also feel solid even if they're lacking the analog sticks. In the end I'll keep it because it looks neat on my shelf and $30 isn't that much but if I ever want to play the games on it I'll need to look elsewhere.

While this was something I was very excited about, for the initial purchase price everything about this just fell short, from the quality of the packaging to the quality of the device itself as well as the content. The menu was very basic and most importantly the game selections were completely lacking a majority of the great hits that made you want this to begin with. Took this one back pretty quick, I gave it a fair rating only because it does function fine and the price has been reduced so it might be worth it for some.

I love the new mini version of Nintendo’s classic consoles and hoping for an N64 version. Sony say them flying off the shelves and attempted to try to do the same, but forgot which games sold so many systems! They even resorted to lowering the price 40 dollars right after Xmas. Luckily I had not opened mine and returned it. One bright note is their are people out there that figured a pretty simple way to add games using a jump drive. I’ll likely pick one up again now that they are cheaper just for collecting, but if you want to play your favorites you’ll need to add something.

Pre-ordered this and was very disappointed after receiving the final product. Seems like Sony wanted to just make quick money in the vein of Nintendo's classic consoles, but their product was poorly executed. Pretty much in-line with all of the critical online reviews you may have read. PAL games play terrible, none of the games seem to load efficiently, poor game save implementation, and questionable game selection. Disappointed especially after paying full price, then having the price dropped 40% only a month after release.

I was really looking forward in getting this mini. I have sega genesis, snes, and nes mini. Enjoyed all three. So I was expecting that I would get same value with playstation mini. Playstation mini has bad selection games, it does not have enough, and for some reason the games don't look good on this mini. The graphics look bad. Sony wasted an opportunity to make a good mini.

...and sadly it’s all true. Terrible frame rate for many games thanks to PAL 50hz versions, no filters or other features to improve PQ on modern TVs, and the selection of games is mediocre at best. Build quality seems decent and the holding the controllers is a great blast to the past, though.
