Good for camera because it will not work without a battery. It is also a good idea to have a spare when the one being used runs out of power.

I always have a spare battery with me at events. You never know when the first one will drain.

I wish the camera came with an extended life battery or another standard battery, but such is Sony. I still like their products enough to put up with their stuff. I didn't need it, but I don't feel good not having a spare for any electronic device.

Since I am using my camera mostly for sporting events, the additional battery is a necessity. It is too early to comment on its quality, so I am relying on the manufacturer's reputation right now.

This is an OEM replacement battery, it is great for having a spare. You can simply swap batteries on the move, and then charge them up when you get home. Always carry a spare!
