Perfect companion to the HT-A7000

Opted for this as the cost was far lower (especially open box) compared to it's larger counterpart, and as I live in an apartment I didn't need (or want) too powerful of a subwoofer. Setup was super fast, don't forget to recalibrate your soundbar once it's connected! This sub has added tons of depth and richness to content, and has proven itself with the Atmos content I've watched. Music has also had a positive benefit from the addition of this sub as expected, of course how much you hear/feel bass will depend on the content and your settings. Overall I'm quite happy with choosing this sub and I think it's a good addition for those of you who don't necessarily want or need wall-shaking bass to enjoy your content, though even this sub can pack quite the punch.

I watch the Blu-ray movie Midway. With the bass volume turned all the way up, it rumble our medium size room pretty good. Super easy to set up, only have a power cord to plug in. If you have a larger size room and or like a ton of bass go with more expenses model SW5.

All About That Bass… Not With My TV

Worse than the predecessor. Not worth it.

The old sub that came with the HT-ST5000 soundbar seems to have a bigger rumble and sounds so integrated where as the SW3 sub sounds loud, muddy and unnatural. I did room calibration a couple times and moved the sub to the corner of my living room, and it sounded better now. Still, this isn't a $350 sub. For $200? Sure. Even at $300, I'd say it's not worth it. Wait for a good deal on the SW5 sub or for Sony to release a new generation.

While it's designed for a more compact and balanced bass response, we recommend ensuring that the Sound Field Optimization is rerun after any placement changes to help the system integrate the "Omnidirectional Block" design more naturally with your soundbar. If you still find the depth lacking for your space, the SA-SW5 does offer a more powerful 300W output and a passive radiator specifically designed for that deeper, cinematic rumble you're looking for.
