Excellent sound quality but way too loud

These headphones do sound fantastic and the bass is excellent. The mic seems to work pretty well, and the earbuds provide fairly good sound isolation (as well as a white noise hiss that is always present). However, given that these headphones have a mic, you'd think they were made with talking on phone calls in mind, wouldn't you? These headphones do work for calls, but you'll probably have to ask the person on the other end to hold their phone roughly a foot away from their face so that your eardrums aren't blown out. Even at the lowest volume that my phone will allow, phone conversations are unpleasantly loud (unless I'm in a particularly noisy place). Maybe it's just my phone (Moto G5S Plus with Android 8.1.0) or something, but I don't know. Likewise, music on my phone is louder than I'd prefer, even at the minimum volume level. If you have any plans to ever use headphones on phone calls, I can't honestly recommend these headphones. If you're just trying to listen to music (especially music that's not on your phone), then go ahead and get these, they're great for that.

Sound is pretty good, better than the sub $20 in ear types by skull candy and others. But, for not on sale cost of nearly $50 these are not worth it. The wires on each bud causes a loud, audible SCRATCHY sound anytime wire rubs on your collar or jackets. Really annoying I only experience on cheap buds in the past. For the money, this is unacceptable when you walk or turn your head and SCRATCH SCRATCH noise over your music. Secondly, after just 1 month and always using the included soft pouch when not in use, I am now getting static from where wires go into buds. Not the usual place of the jack. The jack is actually nice and angles so not to get damaged while in pockets. But the static at buds means they are nearly shot now after just a month of daily use at work. Sound is good but not great because they don't have noise cancelling effect so background noise is apparent. Now you know. Buy on sale only.

    Misleading Specifications

I bought these headphones to replace the Apple ones I usually get. I actually like the Apple headphones because they have all the playback, microphone and volume features I like. But Apple seems to design their accessories to break and I got tired of buying them so often and having to trek to the Apple store at least twice during the one year warranty to have them replaced. But I digress. I bought these Sony headphones because the specifications specifically say that the product has volume control. So far, I have found no such function. The instructions sheet say the multi-function button may be accessed through an app on the Google Play store. I have an iPhone. So if there is in fact a volume function, I can't use it. Sony has the right to do whatever they want with their product but that needs to be specified. It's not the end of the world. It has everything else. I'm just a bit disappointed and may send these back on principle.

    Pretty tinny

I bought these to replace an old set of Sennheiser CX-300. These Sonys were the same price point $30ish. And since I have tons of Sony equipment I thought these would be great replacements. Unfortunately, after 3 months of using them I haven't liked them. They don't have enough isolation no matter which ear cap I use. The sound is a bit tinny which my Sennheisers were not. If I didn't have something to compare it too, I think these would be great earbuds. I like the L connector, feels solid and strong. The cable material feels premium. The carry bag is helpful to keep them from getting tangled and messed up in my backpack. I'm now in the market for a new pair of Sennheiser earbuds to replace these Sonys.

    tiny driver, tiny sound

The problem here isn't the quality of the sound but the size of it. Quality was nice enough, pretty crisp and clear (they are Sony) but 12mm drivers means the sound is very thin with very little bass and you have to crank the volume way up. If you're in a quiet room, you can back it off a bit and the sound quality is pleasant and accurate but, still, thin with no bass - it's kind of like a bee buzzing around in your head. I have an older set of nice Sony head-band earbuds that perform the same so I should have known better but I thought the "Extra Bass" might offer some improvement. Sadly, that was not the case. I exchanged these for a 'sport' model from a different brand that has 15mm drivers and the difference is like night and day. I wish I could name them in the review here.

This product has pretty decent souND quality and volume which I enjoyed . However, I was not pleased that the wires break in them within a years time at which point they are worthless. Guess if you are going to purchase them, get the extended warranty so you can get a new pair for free when they break. Not going to gibe a negative review due to the fact that they do work good when they work, and like many other corded items, wires do break over time

The sound is good as expected in a Sony product, it's built with a good quality materials. I would love it if it would have volume controls, but only has one single button. I'm not to sure about the microphone, but could be the equipment the one that is not processing properly. I think that the price it's higher than other headphones that offer the same result, if you compare this ones with a Samsung original per example.

It may be my fault for not reading the specs closer, but I'm very disappointed in a couple of things: 1) the on/off switch is on the left side, when every other set I've ever had has been on the right, and 2) there is no volume control on the switch. Both of these things, plus the fact that the jack is curved rather than straight make them less than ideal. I use them for listening to books on my phone and voicemail on my laptop and the sound is adequate.

I bought this in ear headphones because the set was on sale and the reviews were all good. For some reason I can only get the best of them when plugged to my old iPod nano or my Android phone, when connected to my iPod touch or laptop ( recent models) sound quality and level diminishes a lot. For a name brand like Sony I will expect a lot more. Can not blame the devices because when I plugged my on ear headphones to them I do get in return the same good quality of audio.

Decent Buds for clear mids and highs.

If you are looking for buds for mostly acoustic based music than these will fit the bill nicely. Unfortunately I listen to a lot of bass heavy music and these lack bass and volume. The lack of volume leads to a lot of ambient noise from your surroundings drowning in and making it harder to hear your music. The size of the buds are quite large and hang out of your ear quite a ways causing the buds to lose their seal and fallout. I returned them and went back to my skullcandy titans.

I'm a little high maintenance when it comes to headphones, I compare ratings and reviews on Best Buy's site along with Amazon's. These have good bass and are comfortable to wear, if you sweat a lot don't wear them to the gym because they'll slip out. I bought these because I needed headphones for a trip and didn't want to spend too much money. These are a nice set, not as nice as the $200 headphones, but if I lost these I wouldn't freak out like I would if I lost a set of Bose or Beats.

These were recommended by someone in the store as being decent enough and they were right. They aren’t perfect but for $30 is anything perfect? They do get a little bit of static even when there is sound, aside from the noise cancelling part it’s just a cheap set of headphones don’t hate me but don’t love em either.

    Headphones Distorted by Sweat

I really want to love these headphones because the sound is so great, but when you do intense workouts where you sweat a lot, the headphones cause your music to keep fast forwarding itself. And if you have an iPhone, Siri keeps on randomly popping up and asking questions, which is extremely annoying when you are trying to stay focused. I will say these headphones are quite durable other than than annoyance, though. My first pair last for about 5 months before having to be replaced.

Found this Sony earbuds while searching for cheap decent earbuds with heavy bass. Sound is great. Only problem is it hurts my ears after wearing it for few minutes. I know there are different sizes for silicone earpiece. But the earbuds’ thin tube where you attach the earpiece is not thin. It’s bigger than usual size. So those people with small ear canal will hurt their ears even if they use the smallest silicone earpiece.

I dont like noise cancelling but i bought them since they were highly recommended by Best Buy staff. Pros - They seem sturdy Cons - I dont like noise cancelling since I cant hear colleagues at work calling me or people I ride bikes with. I have to take them off. Would be nice if there was a volume adjuster in the headphone cord at least. I returned them because they were also malfunctioning. The audio would cut out randomly every few minutes.

After having a great pair of Sony headphone for years, I decided to buy these to replace them. I am a college student and honestly use my headphones for 18/24 hours a day. It’s sad to say that the mic button broke within the first two weeks. The paint is also chipping off of the headphones. The sound quality is amazing tho. Very clean. I don’t need much volume to have a full sound, but it breaks easier than I would like it to.

I used these to listen to music while working, and after 30 minutes they would start to hurt my ears. It has to do with the angle that they built in to them headphones. Part of the angled portion of the headphone pushes against the inside of my ear and hurts over time. They sounded great and cancelled noise great, but just couldn't wear them for a long period of time. I decided to return them for a cheaper pair that weren't angled.

You cant really tell from the pictures, but the buds are fairly large and heavy. The sound quality is decent, but didnt quite have as much bass as I was expecting (given thats what sony is targeting with this model). I returned them since they were uncomfortable in my ear (and heavy as i mentioned). Ended up getting Skullcandy Titans for about $15 bucks cheaper and sound just as good, but lighter and more comfortable. Your mileage may vary.

Before these I was already using a different, lower end, model of Sony earbuds that I've really enjoyed. The Extra Bass were a little step up in quality. I wanted something similar that sounded better, and these certainly sound much better. Unfortunately, the Extra Bass earbuds hurt my ears. I've tried different size cups and tried getting used to them, but they still just hurt. I've gone back to my previous buds as comfort trumps a small bump in quality for me.

This is not my first pair of headphones and I have gone through quiet a bit of them throughout the years and this one seems a little bulky. It advertises heavy bass but it is no different than most headphones. You use a cheap skull candy headphones and it will give you a much better base than these headphones I can assure you of that. Would I recommend these headphones? probably not. I think your money is better invested in other products than this.
