Sony's new Noise cancelling, cool concept BUT

So I had the chance at trying out the Sony SP600N Sports Wireless Noise Canceling In-Ear Headphones. I'm an avid jogger, I enjoy jogging so I'm always on the look out a good set of earphones that won't be too heavy or bounce up and down when you're jogging and trying to focus on your steps or taking time to think about other things going on. I get it, you don't want to be bothered with struggling to fix your earphones every couple of minutes when you're deep into your 5 mile jog. Opening the box the SP600N looks like any other earphones, Sony's designs are always clean and good looking as well as simple. I've had about 15 sets of earphones in the past 5 years of jogging and the SP600N is simple but compacting the battery, control s and bluetooth module all into one portion of the earphones. Other high end (and I do mean high end, ranging from $150 to $299) sports earphones I've own in the past this keep what you need and leaves out the things you don't. The Main appealing thing about the SP600N is the noise cancelling feature it has, I've also own Sony's top end headphones with noise cancelling and they're amazing on planes. Anyways, back to the SP600N, when jogging you want to just turn on some good music and forget everything, just focus on your breathing or just think about other things going on in your world. This is why the noise cancelling was so appealing to me but when you're jogging the earphones on the SP600N weren't 100% secure. This is due to the fact I used the ear cushions right out of the box. Sony does give you 2 other sets to fit your ear size so you do need to swap them out for the ones appropriate for your ears. The noise cancelling works, you can tell when you turn on and off the feature but I'm not sure if it is effective in a earphone type of listening device. I think noise cancelling is more suited with headphones. The SP600N are good set of earphones but at it's price point I'm not so sure if I can 100% recommend it.

    Phenomenal Sound, But...

These headphones have phenomenal sound. Especially when using the Sony Headphones App and setting the EQ to "Excited". Powerful bass, nice mids, and bright (but not overly bright) highs. Add noise canceling to this, and wow! These also play louder than my other earbuds at the same volume settings. The "quick settings" available through the app are a huge plus. I have mine setup for "speech" with noise canceling on. This comes in handy when I want to listen to podcasts. Simply double tap the NC button, and bang, "quick settings" are active. When going back to music, another double tap of the NC buttong and I'm back to normal mode, which for me is EQ = Excited + NC on. Battery life was decent at just about 6 hours per charge. The reason I rated them a 3* is the control unit is overly bulky and constantly pulling on the left ear, and pulling the wires to the left. I found myself constantly pushing the left earbud back into my ear and readjusting the wire because they would start pulling on the right earbud. They would of been much better off splitting up the controller between both sides. You might be ok if you're not going to be doing anything active, but I found simply walking around my house doing chores caused a lot of issues. I can't imagine running or exercising being any better. They take too much work to keep them in your ear. Simply not enjoyable.

These are great sounding, comfortable earphones. But noise cancelling is just not very good. I tried these earphones in several different environments, with several different types of listening. Music has a deep rich sound with no tinny mid range or treble, and podcasts sound terrific. The issue with these earphones are the noise cancelling feature. I’ve use other noise cancelling earphones in the past, where the noise cancelling was fantastic. The noise cancelling in these earphones just do not work well at all. The ambient feature on these earphones work very well, when activated, you get an immediate amplification of surrounding ambient noises. These earphones are very comfortable, I can wear them all day long with no soreness at all. Battery life is very good as well, I can get 8 hours of listening time easily. The Bluetooth on these earphones is very stable and has a surprisingly long range. I can set my phone in one room amd move throughout my house with no dropping out. As a test I left my phone inside the house and walked outside, I was able to walk all the way around my house with no dropping out, very impressive. Because of the poor noise cancelling feature, I cannot recommend these earphones.

If you are looking for noise cancelling earbuds, then I would recommend that you look elsewhere. These have 3 settings. You can set it for noise cancelling on or off and there is an ambient setting. I really didn’t notice much of a difference between them. I’m no audiophile, but they do sound good to me. They are not bass heavy and the highs are pretty clean. They stay in my ears well but are not the most comfortable earbuds I’ve used. Even with the smallest size inserts they are not as comfortable for me as some of my other earbuds. The Bluetooth works very well. I have not noticed any drop outs when I walk with them on. I have used other earbuds that will drop out every now and then when I turn my head, but these do not. I keep my phone in my front pants pocket and they didn’t miss a beat for me. Another thing that I noticed a bit different was that the controls are on the left side instead of the right. I’m very used to my earbuds having the controls on the right but these are on the left. Not a deal breaker for me, but something to consider. For this price point, they are just ok. The noise cancelling was a big disappointment for me.

Pro: Sound quality is pretty good for music Ambient noise does play through the speaker therefore, Mic is picking up surround environment sound well. Con: Noise Canceling is just a gimmick, can't tell the difference if it is on or off. Using the App Headphone connect can't create custom Equalizers. Phone call quality is poor. The listener hears what I say but they say it sounds as if I got a frog in my throat. When turning my head so see the left or right side of me it puts a strain on ears, as if the cable is not long enough so will have to constantly adjust the earbuds to they don't pop out of ear. Conclusion: For what this device delivers, it is overpriced. You can find other earbuds that cost half the price but deliver the same music quality and better call quality. The mic is bizarre, for ambient sound it works well however for phone calls it is disappointing. I used it over 15 calls and the listeners always complains, they can't hear me or my voice sounds distorted. It doesn't matter if I use Voice over IP or regular phone call. Bottom line the extra features which are virtually non-existing adds to the higher price. You can get the same type of earbuds from Sony without the gimmicks and it is $70 cheaper.

I thought I would like to have a pair of wireless headphones for use with my iPod when walking but I’m not impressed by the sound of these at all, no matter what setting I had them on they still had a very tin sound, I don’t know where the extra bass was that’s advertised. Also they are not completely wireless, they are connected together with a wire which hangs either around your chin or the back of your neck, there is volume, play, fast forward, rewind control on the wire but you have to take them off or memorize where the controls are because you can’t see them. You need the headphones app to change settings & would be best to control the headphones with. Noise cancelling wasn’t really good either because I could still hear everything going on around me. They are waterproof & charge with a usb cable, sound is pretty loud and you get about 6 hrs playback time. Can be used with iPhone, iPod or android & hands free calling, google assist. USB cable is included as well as a few different sizes of silicone ear buds to fit all sizes. Set up & connection was easy but as far as sound goes, I’ll stick to my wired headphones.

Liked the bass but terrible for calls

I have a sony over the ear pair of noise cancelling headphones so i figured these would be good too. The bass was good, the noise cancelling feature was so so. However the ambient noise feature is atrocious. It gives the sound of a hot mic you can hear too much playback from sounds. I tested making calls to two different people and absolutely useless. Way too much noise on my end and then my callers couldnt hear me and i had trouble hearing them. For 150$ or even the 100$ sale price is off the mark. I am returning them same day i bought them. I have the sony headphone app and that helped with music but nothing helped with the call quality. Only good for music alone. For calls I had to resort to using an old pair of samsung earbuds with mic and they were superior for phone calls!!!(the samsung ear buds that came with my s6 years ago)I'm really disappointed sony!

I was very impressed with the quality of sound and loved the fact that it came with a corresponding app which included an equalizer. The disappointment came when wearing it around and the wire kept slipping off my neck to one side or the other. In addition to that, the battery life wasn’t fantastic either. After only an hour or two of music and a phone call, the battery would be dying. I ended up returning it for these two reasons but was really sad to have to do that because the sound was so awesome.

I bought these in hopes of finding the right wireless earbuds that worked with my galaxy note 9. These worked! But after some time with them, I wasn't really a fan. They sound really good, once you download the app and tweak the eq settings, but the "noise canceling is kind of a joke. There is no difference with it on or off. Now, it may make a difference if you were to use foam tips, but those do not come with these earbuds, so I returned them. I could not justify paying $90 for something that something else could do for cheaper.

I must say the headset fit perfectly and stayed in place in my ears. The volume wasn't that high. I'm using it on a Galaxy Note 8. Also doing phone calls I got a lot of background noise making it almost impossible for the caller on the phone to hear me. Music was okay as I said it wasn't loud and Bassed up. But the sound quality was okay. I really wish they would have Incorporated noise cancelling along with the ambient sound function. To summarize not the best headset that I've ever used but it's okay if you're not a person that likes the music loud and if you're not making phone calls during your workout.

I was really looking forward to the sound quality of these since they advertise as having Extra bass. Sorry, but I find them very average. The noise canceling feature really did nothing for me, I just did not notice any sound improvement. If you like to hear things around you i guess the ambient setting kind of help you hear slightly better. Control are laid out nicely and easy to use. I had trouble getting a real good fit no matter the earbuds I tried. Overall these are pretty average to me, Not my go to pair by any means.

These are great headphones for activities and listening to music. If you are using them for occasional use, then they aren't the best. They will slide off your neck if you don't have them in your ear. Also during calls, the person I was speaking to couldn't hear me well. I tried to make adjustments of where it's placed on my neck, but they still were unable to hear me. I think for music during activities these are great, but for calls and daily occasionaly use, I'll stick with my "daily driver."

These are nicer headphones than recent Sony releases in the past. The sound is superior and might even sound crispier than my Beats and Jaybirds. The added ambient sound mode is awesome. The only reasons why I did not give this 4 stars is because the design still feels bulky and heavy on the ears, the noise cancelling did not sound any different from ambient sound, and the Bluetooth to connect was not easy. Above all, the sound is great so these headphones are good for its loudness and bass.

The connectivity is great. The adjustable ear piece sizes M and L came in handy so they would not fall out of my ear when I was running. Noise cancelling effect is okay. It really only works when music is on with ambient sound. The loudness of speakers and treble is not good. Overall if you just want a decent pair of running headphones theres are it. BUT they do not produce the sound quality I would have preferred.

Bought this headset as a gift, l used it once and it sounded good. Not Quite as good as my Bose but the price was much better and there are no cords. My wife has an android tablet and this will only work with iOS. Also she does not like that the cord against her neck. Overall I would say this is a very good product If you know going in you can only use it with your iPhone or iPad.

I really enjoy the sound from these headphones. I use them while riding my bike, and I find that in both the noise canceling and ambient sound modes that the noise from the wind is picked up and amplified so that it interferes with the main audio. Turning off those 2 modes provides a much better audio experience.

I would have given 4 or 5 stars except for the following; 1. Comes with 4 sizes of ear buds but just cannot find the perfect fit. 2. After downloading app and upgrading firmware, the sound was terrible and the volume and noise cancelling became inferior. If you get these, I would avoid the app.

I did love the comfort of these headphones and the audio they put out. But I was very unimpressed with their built in microphone for phone conversations. It was always picking up background noise around me, and always hard for the other person on the other end of the call to hear me.

The audio is good but the noise cancellation is a bit strange. Sometimes the noise cancellation works right other times it does not. I've been searching online for a solution have yet to find one. Maybe I need a firmware update. The Bose in ear ones work much better.

Bought these to use for conference calls. My staff told me I sounded like I was "incognito" - horribly muffled. With the mics on the ear buds themselves there is no possible adjustment to make. Sound quality for audio was great! Wished the mic worked as well.
