It has decent volume and connects to my phone with no issues. The sound on music seems a little muddled, I also have a Bose that I use in the house and its sound is very crisp and clean. But for use in the shop this fits the need and the cost.

I decided based on my experience with some other Sony audio products. The sound is adjustable through the app, so if it isn’t quite to your liking, get in there and tweak it. I turn the bass boost on for music and off for audio books. This is mainly used for the garage and around-the-house while doing projects speaker. I’m delighted compared to my experiences with last generations Bluetooth speakers. This Sony connects quickly and easily, the sound is terrific and the battery life is astounding. I’m usually a black color picker, but this dusty blue is classy.

Even if you drop it, the SRS-XB23 will keep on working. It also has an IP67 rating which makes the speaker dustproof, waterproof, rustproof and washable.

Often when we cannot, we just reset the grouping.

We had to go with the Sony as the UE Boom was sold out. The speaker plays good sound when you are directly in front of it. But to the sides and behind it, not so much. This goes against the claim of 360 sound it claims. It is very difficult to tell if the unit is on, the buttons do not light up and the "on" sound is very low. The unit is very light and functional. However, we were not impressed with Sony's equalizer app. Can we get a user friendly interface? All in all, it accomplished what we wanted which was sound on the beach. I would prefer a little more volume, but we were not without music. We are still partial to the UE Boom over this model. But not a bad replacement in a rush.

Sony Bluetooth tube speaker

I have a smaller JBL model that puts it to shame. Other than lack of low end, sound is pretty good for what it is. Battery life is very good and sound dispersion a notch above the JBL. If you are looking for something to play Rap or Hip-Hop move up to a higher end model (this was a gift for my 21 yr old son). Not sure how well the cloth covering will hold up, seems a bit flimsy but it is fully waterproof so we’ll see. Overall build is robust, looks very nice. Purchased at Christmas time for a great price, it is well worth what I paid but at full price you might consider others before buying. Overall satisfied for what I paid.

We value your input and appreciate the feedback. If you haven't yet, be sure to download the Sony Music Center app, and you can actually fine tune the sound of your XB23 to your liking. There is a built in EQ that has 20 points of control for Bass, Midrange, and Treble. You can also change the speaker set up from Mono to Stereo to suit your needs.
