It’s lightweight and easy to carry around. The disco lights are great for the party and I can get another one and sinc them. One inside and one outside the house

Great sound quality but not loud enough

I bought this for home workouts, and tinkering around in the garage. I kept finding myself hitting the volume up more and more just for it to be maxed out. I will be returning it and going to try out the XB43.

While we are pleased that you like the great sound quality and long-lasting battery life of our XB33, we are so sorry if loudness/volume of this speaker didn't live up to your needs. If you still have the unit, you may try following the steps below to isolate the problem:
For the max volume or low sound levels, you may refer to this help guide link to troubleshoot the issue: https://helpguide.sony.net/speaker/srs-xb33/v1/en/contents/TP0002741503.html
Additionally, please make sure you fully charge the speaker, especially after it has gone below 10%, and hit the auto volume limiter (designed to keep your speaker battery healthy & safe).
And if you haven't yet, please download the Sony Music Center app to fine-tune the sound of your XB33 to your liking. There is a built-in EQ that has 20 points of control for Bass, Midrange, and Treble. You can also change the speaker set up from Mono to Stereo to suit your needs.
Despite the issue, we are glad that you are considering our XB43 as a replacement unit. In comparison to the XB33, the XB43 has a better separation of lows and highs. It also can deliver more bass.

Love this speaker

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can see why Sony is an alternative to JBL and Bose, less expensive and the sound is great, this one in particular got my attention at the store and I have the opportunity to tested in a trip to the beach, I am really pleased to say that the battery is great, last forever, and the sound is very clear, is built very strong and the lights are super nice. I will recommend everyone to have one for small party's with the family and friends.

My old XB-40 was “borrowed” during our recent move. Has awesome sound for a reasonably price BT Speaker. Connection was a breeze and I just basically use it for listening in the house or garage. Don’t have my surround system up because of just moving in, so this is my sound piece. Would definitely recommend this speaker.

Wonderful and Durable, battery needs improvement.

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overview: I purchased this speaker to take in a camel-back while I snowboard, it gave me the extra sound I needed while shredding down the slopes and it’s bass is clear when the “live” or “extended battery” are disabled, when active they both reduce quality to conserve battery. I also used this speaker to play Christmas music for the residents of the assisted living I work at. They thoroughly enjoyed the music more than if it had come out of the tv and I couldn’t have been happier to see them sing along! I was between this speaker and the JBL charge and this has been a worth while purchase, I may still get this charge and use this as a house speaker for the reason of the battery- see below. Pros: Really clear sound, bass is strong (can be felt if volume at max and you are within 4 feet) but be thoughtful of what you set the speaker on to play music as the powerful bass can reverb off and distort sound pretty easy, lights add ambiance when you are relaxing-not great party lights IMO, multiple modes to choose quality/battery, built in mic to give hands free calls when snowboarding. Cons: My biggest issue is the battery life, I take quality of battery every time and this drains the battery within 6 hours which is nothing when on the slopes, I should mention the cold can also reduce this time but It’s hard to know exactly what the battery level is (you just have a light for “charge” that appears and the speaker will say “needs charge” when battery becomes low, but again what level is this at?!) Weight is another thing I would say is a con, it’s light given it’s size and durability but it’s 5+ lbs and this isn’t something you can just toss in a pack, you need to plan it specially if you need to include the charger. Lights are cool but very unnecessary as you can’t personalize it much and it just drains the battery more. With the app you can get it so it does blink or flash to the beat but RGB lights inside of the speakers instead of white would be a huge improvement if possible.

They portable products will last the longest. Jbls and bose will die with their batteries but Sony will keep going strong. I regret not choosing Sony from the beginning.

Not as powerful as I wanted, but here's the fix.

At first, I was not impressed with the loudness off this speaker and my intention was to return it after testing it's features. The battery life appears to be good, but I was unable to test it's suggested longevity of 20 hours. Unfortunately, I went past the return window because I probably would have returned it for not being as loud as i was expecting. But here's what i did to make the best of it. I installed a volume booster on my Android phone. Voila! Problem solved! But I had to go into my developer settings and configure a few things. Do this.See photo. https://youtu.be/cyNryiXFqtI Makes a huge difference. But you have to play with a few of the volume boosters to decide what works for you. Use a volume booster and equalizer for best results.

The XB33 is specifically designed for audio clarity throughout its volume range. This is something our music loving customers appreciate most. That being said the XB33 also gets very loud for its size and audio precision. Good to know you've found a workaround on how to boost the volume of the speaker.
We also want to make sure you are getting the most out of your speaker. Please make sure you have downloaded the Sony Music Center app. There you will find all sorts of tools to fine tune your XB33 and maximize the volume to your liking. There is even an EQ.
Please make sure you fully charge the speaker, especially after it has gone below 10%, and hit the auto volume limiter (designed to keep your speaker safe).
Then Increase the volume level of the wireless speaker and source devices.
You may also find different devices will perform better than others, as will different apps due to different types of audio compression and transmission.

The little brother to bigger bass

It’s well weighted to carry around and bring music anywhere else. Battery life is very mediocre and almost a no sell but I still wanted Sony so I can connect it with the bigger Sony speakers. Don’t buy at full price and it will feel good. But both at half the price on sale and it will feel like money!!!
