The Sony speaker overall is a great looking and to me at least great sounding product. This thing looks slick and even the lights are a nice touch. This will be a great Summer BBQ speaker with IPX67 water resistance its durable enough to travel and if you add the Android App to help tune the speaker and add some fun additions you got a winner. Its just a perfect outdoor lets enjoy the night type of device. I also love that this speaker with a 24 hour battery (depending on usage and lighting effects) can also charge your phone so it can double as a backup battery, which is nice in a pinch. Music plays great and like I said sounds good. It is also nice to be able to change the DSP setting from heavy Bass to Live Music with a push of a button. Since something the music is less bass and to adjust that a push of a button is a wonderful feature. I know I'm gushing, but this is a truly nice looking speaker that also sounds great, something I don't mind displaying while it beats the tunes out. It works and works well. Its everything I would want in a portable speaker and think Sony did a great job with this one. Additonally they include a charger, though if you forget it at home a standard micro-USB cable can also be used with no issues. Sony has a nice speaker and if you want something to be able to display at your BBQ and keep the party going or get it started this may be just what you are looking for.

INTRODUCTION: Sony SRS-XB41 reigns supreme as the Best of the Best portable wireless Bluetooth speaker. This amazing performer is in a class by itself, literally inventing a new category of an interactive party speaker, while surpassing all competitors with Extra Bass & performance enhancements. LIKES: 1- "Extra Bass", a Sony exclusive feature, is selectable by the free Sony Music Center App. It is activated by default, and the sound enhancement is stunning! 2- "Live Sound Mode" is also selectable by free Sony Music Center App. It produces an ultra wide spread sound that puts you in the middle of the band. The musical instruments sound like they are across the room with you in the center! Extra Bass is integrated into this mode, so you not only get a room full of sound, you get strong bass, too. I recommend the "Live Sound Mode", which includes "Extra Bass". 3- A Graphic Equalizer is built in the aforementioned free Sony Music Center App. Tweak the bass punch & high frequency clarity precisely to your satisfaction. This works in addition to "Extra Bass" & "Live Sound Mode". 4- "Wireless Party Chain" is another amazing feature: 100 Sony speakers with Party Chain can be wirelessly connected together. You can mix & match any of the Sony models with Part Chain: SRS-XB41, SRS- XB31 & SRS- XB21. 5- "Party Booster" interactive feature turns this speaker into a portable drum kit, percussion kit or customized sound. Tap on 5 sides of this speaker & it rocks out with drums, percussion, cowbell, etc. The sounds are amazing; imagine a party full of revelers, each beating their own drum kit on one of these speakers & joining together with interactive fun! 6- Dynamic LED & strobe party lights flash to the beat (if you select them to) - they even flash to the beat of Party Booster! These interactive lights wrap around both sides of the speaker for maximum dramatic impact. 7- Features Sony LDAC (also called High-resolution audio). LDAC is a Sony audio coding technology that enables clear, High-Resolution Audio, even over Bluetooth. It supports SBC / AAC / LDAC codecs, so you enjoy premium sound from a variety of devices from virtually any source. 8- Bluetooth Version 4.2 Wireless Range is a whopping 98 feet. 9- Dual charging option provides a choice: Charges using any standard 5 Volt / USB adaptor with included USB to Micro USB cable. No special adaptor to carry. For faster charging, a high power 5 Volt / 3.0 Amp power adaptor is also included to juice up the SRS-XB41 quickly. 10- The mammoth internal Rechargeable Battery provides up to 24-Hour Battery Life - Party all Day & Night! 11- Standard USB 5.0 Volt Output Jack is built in to power or charge devices, such as your phone, from this powerhouse speaker. 12- Full onboard controls on top of the speaker control everything without fiddling with the sound source. No interruptions to the party! 13- External 3.5mm input jack for connecting to any so equipped source (i.e. Echo Dot & just about any imaginable music source). 14- Microphone built-in; this speaker serves as a speakerphone. 15- Fully Waterproof with IP67 rating to 3.3 feet. 16- NFC technology for one-touch pairing with equipped devices. 17- Sony packed a lot of sound in these dimensions: 11 1/2" W X 4 1/8"H X 4 1/4"D. 18- Lightweight: 3 pounds 5 ounces. 19- I selected the Red speaker; it is available in Red, Blue & Black. The color is actually Maroon; it is not a bright red; it is an elegant color (see photos). 20- Very attractive curved shape; the lights disappear as stylish bands when turned off. DISLIKES: NONE! CONCLUSION: Sony SRS-XB41 earns my highest recommendation & reigns supreme as The. Reference. Standard.

When it comes to sound, Sony habitually produces quality products, and this one is no different. As a bass lover myself, this product hit the spot wonderfully, with nice, full, rich bass right out the box. Clarity at both high and low listening levels rounds out the sound profile here, and its accompanied by a built in Light show that adapts to the music being played. A couple of phone apps allow for greater control of the light and sound features here, but most will be completely happy with the standard settings. This is one of the first devices which I actually had to decrease the bass & lift the treble to adjust the sound (usually it the reverse), so folks who want a more balanced sound should prepare to use their EQ to make adjustments right away. The live mode adds more treble, but creates other problems in the process by unbalancing other areas of the overall sound quality, so again, keep that EQ handy for this device. The battery does last very long, amd ive had no problems listening to this device for lengthy stretches of time, but judging from the power levels after those lengthy stretches, I'd say the light show (and other features, if you use them) come at a battery cost, as this doesn't seem to get 24 hrs with the light show going along with the music. This will get you through a typical gathering or an extended evening fine, with power to spare, so no worries about battery life with this device. Overall, these speakers deliver a quality sound with very clear bass effects, and most music lovers will be happy with how full the sound is. It could probably have benefited from a few more built in EQ options aside from live mode, but it gets the job done, especially if you are partial to bass. You are paying a hefty cost for the light & sound effects, as you can find other less expensive devices with comparable sound quality to this, but if those features appeal to you (it is a VERY nice light show! @@@@@@@ this is your product. Id give it a 4.5 overall, but am rounding up to 5 since it heavily advertises the bass, and DELIVERS in grand fashion. I Definitely recommend these speakers if the light & sound effects are your thing along with quality sound!

Sony Bluetooth Speaker SRS-XB41 is one of the coolest looking speakers out there and it's going to be the perfect summer music item for those visits to the beach. This one I enjoyed more then SRS XB31 due to the stronger overall bass and range. is pretty much a bigger better XB31 and it connects speakers other sony SRS speakers. want to say that this speaker lasts for an extremely long time. This combined with the portability of the XB31 you are going to have a great time. The design is nice and feels matte to the touch, You can indeed hold this with one hand and walk around with it. More so the design is also rugged so if you do happen to drop it will survive a few drops. much in line with the SRS XB31. Buttons at the top of the speaker which is easy to find and use so you don't have to use your phone or tablet to control music. very soft to the touch. The XB41 is also Rust, Dust, and Waterproof completely (IP67 Rated. @@@@@@@ even claims it can take a little sea water without getting rust.Comes with NFC and Bluetooth. There is a charging port on the back of the speaker which can charge up your phone. One of my favorite features about the speaker is the "party lights" that gives an awesome glow everytime it's in use with multiple colors. These can also sync up to each other with something called "Party Chain." I have used this mode personally with the Sony XB-90 and the lights and sounds all link up together. giving you a really wild sound system. Now I have 3 Speakers which all connect to my living room environment. The sound from the speaker is incredible to say the lease. It gets loud and punchy with bass. Bass mode does kick from this speaker to levels I never seen from a speaker of this size. Bass is stronger than the 31 but its worth the extra price. There is also "Live Sound" mode which is a little disappointing because the differences that sound suppose to cover the room over a wider area with three dimensional sound seems minuscule at best. To me, it doesn't make that big of a difference especially if you have more then one Sony XB speaker connected. The Sony app again is its own worst enemy. There is a lot of features in the app which allows you to use DJ controls and such but the App (at least on Apple's App Store) is still awful and I don't think there are signs of Sony trying to improve it. The App has bugs, slow, and is very outdated. Until they improve the app I say skip it and only use it for colors on the speaker itself. I love the Sony XB line of speakers but this one improves way more than the rest because being totally Dust, Rust. and Waterproof. it lasts all day with battery and it loud with it being perfect for parties. My downside is that its Sony App is just botched but the product itself is great. I love party chain link and the colors are beautiful. Would get this for anyone who looking for speakers with fun attached to them.

I love these new speakers from Sony! I have the smaller version of this speaker as well and loved it, but I wanted something with a little more oomph, so I picked this one up too. One cool feature right off the bat is that you can connect the 2 together and simultaneously play music on multiple speakers! Right out of the box you will love the way these speakers look, I ordered the blue version, although when you look at it, it is more like a teal-ish color. Its covered in this nice mesh fabric, but it is still very durable. You can drop this in the bathtub, run it under the faucet (yes, I tried it), get dirt on it. This is a very well made and solid speaker! The overall sound of the speaker is the best I have ever heard from any Bluetooth speaker. I have owned all the major smart speakers as well as many various other standalone Bluetooth speakers and this one blows all of them away. It has a very nice punchy bass and the mids and highs are evenly represented as well. It has a very well balanced sound. I know a lot of speakers labeled as extra bass are nothing but bass...this is not one of those speakers! This speaker also will literally fill a large room with sound. I don't know how it does it...but you can be anywhere in the room and hear the speaker crisp and clear! The app that comes with the speaker also has a lot of features you dont find on other speakers. As I mentioned before you have the ability to link multiple speakers together. You also get a 3 band EQ control which I love! It helps you fine tune your bass and give it a little extra punch. You can also switch between the extra bass and "live" sound. I prefer the extra bass setting. There is also the party booster feature where you can tap different parts of the speaker and it will play electronic drum sounds or cowbells and things like that. It's cool, but a bit of a novelty. I found myself playing with it right away, but I haven't used it since. It also doesn't always work the greatest and you really have to smack the speaker hard to get it to work. The light show is also a bit of a novelty feature, but I find it to look pretty cool and leave it on most of the time. There are different color settings and things in the app that you can change the lights to in order to suit your needs. You will need to have that off though in order to get the full 24 hours of playback that Sony claims you can get. Overall, I would say this is the best of the best when it comes to Bluetooth speakers in this price range. Go to the store and listen to it and im sure you will be just as amazed as I am!

In brief, the SONY SRS-XB41 is built for fun. It's playful design and abundant features make it a great speaker system for the beach, a patio, a cabin, or just about anywhere else. Oh, and it sounds pretty good too. APPEARANCE & FEEL: The deep red front of the XB41 greets the user as soon as the box is opened. The overall body is a blend of nicely textured surfaces (front, top, sides) and soft-touch plastic everywhere else. The controls are arrayed along a panel (same plastic) on the top, and the many connections are concealed in a compartment in the rear. It's covered with a watertight "flap" that seats tightly but is easy to open. Surrounding the front and sides is one continuous bright frame that holds a nice surprise. Overall the speaker feels solid and substantial, but not heavy. Quality is the word that comes to mind. AUDIO QUALITY: Assessing sound quality is, of course, mostly subjective and is affected by many factors, including size. While the XB41 feels substantial, it is only approximately 12" x 4" x 4". The two internal speakers are, according to the manual, about 1-13/20" in size. There are several audio inputs (see next section), but this assessment was made both by a Bluetooth connected to an Android device with highest quality MP3 and also a direct connection via the "audio in" jack. In both cases sound quality was similar. Unsurprisingly, the treble was sketchy and weak. Mid-range was very good. However, the big surprise was the bass which was (again, remembering the speaker's size) excellent and full. Clearly, SONY engineers did a lot of work to make such a nice bass come from such a small system. There was no obvious stereo separation. Overall, for its intended use (outdoors, casual listening, small party, etc.) this is a good speaker. FEATURES: The (on-line only) manual is 94 pages. Really. This is a clue that the XB41 is certainly fully featured. The box includes an AC charger, warranty information (the usual one year) and a graphic "quick start" insert. SONY strongly recommends downloading two free apps which both enhance functionality and add even more features. @@@@@@@@ See next section. @@@@@@@ Waterproof? Naturally, with good instructions on how to remove excess water. Want to link multiple speakers wirelessly? Of course. By wired connection? Certainly. Need to charge a phone or other device? Use the USB power source. Want to use the XB41 as a speaker phone? Can do, there's also a mic. The back panel contains about 10 buttons, connectors, etc. One surprising and delightful feature was the reactive lighting that is colorful and spontaneous. The arrays express themselves in the "band" that surrounds the front and sides of the XB41 and in the two internal speakers that seem to illuminate/flash in response to bass inputs. @@@@@@@@ See photo. @@@@@@@ There are several ways to modify or turn off the lighting, either by the control panel (limited) or one of the apps (more fully). Does anyone need such bouncy lighting in the post-disco age? No, but it sure was fun. FUNCTIONALITY: Whether one chooses to use this speaker with minimal features (say, if you don't need a 100-speaker "Party Chain") or digging deep into the many enhancements that SONY has provided, this is an easy unit to use, especially with the apps. The lithium-ion battery life is excellent, but declines rapidly as more demands (volume, features) are used. There are several indicators (decreased volume, etc.) as battery life declines. My one "gripe," is that SONY, like so many other device makers, takes the cheap way and makes button and labels by embossing them into the plastic in the same color. This can be overcome with larger fonts, but currently this one is hard to see and read, especially in dim light. There's a lot of empty space around the top control panel, so why aren't the fonts taking advantage of the space (see photo). IN SUM, this is a great supplemental speaker, with above-average sound quality, many functions, and a whimsical feel. Enjoy!

I've reviewed several portable (and not so portable) speakers from SONY available as part of the XB line - They are excellent as they combine a few key qualities people are looking for in their devices: - Fun colors - Durable/Weather-/Environment-proof - Good Sound Quality - Good Battery Life - Fun Features The XB41 is one of the larger of the speakers on offer today from SONY, and offers VERY clear high range and midrange sound... It has a deep bass as well, and caters to a certain crowd with its party lights and fun color choices. The speakers light up around the rim and across the front with internal LED chasing lights which brings a unique aestetic to this line. As I mentioned the speaker is good and loud. Easily filling a large room with sound, but even capable of good coverage outdoors. I did notice as the volume increases, some muddiness in the midrange is noticeable, but I was pretty close to the speaker and at these volumes, you likely wont be for optimum listening... I've reviewed several of the XB-series speakers and clarity is excellent for this price range - The XB41 is definitely a better speaker in the larger housing than the smaller offerings, and the built-in subwoofer is definitely contributing to that full, rich audio output. As always, the output is improved when connecting via an AUX cable via 3.5mm connector, but the bluetooth qualtiy is good. There's also a full-size USB-Type-A connector for connecting your smartphone's charging cable and the internal speaker battery doubles as a portable charger for your device - Unfortunately, this is a charging only connection, and AUX input is limited to 3.5MM connections if you seek a wired approach, I had the privilege of getting a few of these speakers to connect to each other in what SONY calls, "Party Mode". This allows the speakers to simulcast the same audio source to up to 100 speakers through SONY's included App for iOS and Android. I noticed this worked pretty well in my testing, but I couldn't figure out how to leverage the in-built NFC with my Android phone. The speakers tout an IP67 rating, resistant to sand and water, but in my real-world testing (using my 8- and 10-year-olds as test subjects, and letting them expose these speakers to the outdoors with no rules) I found that while they do resist damage from dirt and water, the cosmetic impacts are permanent, as the material they're made from wont clean easily if exposed to dirt or mud (its a woven, speaker-grille material). This doesn't mean the functionality is affected in any way, but other speakers from competitors head off their resistance to these elements with smarter grill designs that are as cleanable as they're resistant to damage. My only other complaint is that we're now in 2018 - When will we finally see technology part ways with that awful, claw-backed, MicroUSB port? Its scratchy, only fits in one way, and none of the phones in this house use it anymore! With the advent and proliferation of USB Type C as the standard, why arent SONY and other manufacturers updating ALL of this year's products to the new way of working? Having this speaker for the long-haul means I've got to keep and "old school" charger around just for these, when everything else I use (MacBook, PixelBook, Pixel phone, GoPro, Google Wifi, etc) all moved to USB C way back in early 2017... Short summary - Good device, old connector, GREAT audio quality, and a fun durable device nevertheless... Just dont get it muddy!

I've used several bluetooth speakers over the years. I recently got a Sony SRS-XB31 and it blew me away, so I was really excited to try the bigger version of it, and to use them together. I also have the normal size and large size bluetooth speakers that look like black tennis ball cans, so I've lots to use for direct comparison, and that where this speaker loses a star. It has about the same sound quality of the larger black cylinder speaker, but the XB31 has much better all around sound. The midrange in this speaker sounds muddy and the high end gets lost when playing it loud. I've tried some of the EQ settings, and they're all one compromise or another, nothing as all-around awesome as the XB31. The app is kind of wonky, it's hard to get it to recognize and remember the speakers. Linking the speakers isn't as quick and easy as my other speakers. I was also disappointed that I couldn't use my XB31 and XB41 as left and right channels, I guess both speakers have to be identical for that to work. It also has speaker linking buttons on it, but I'm still trying to get the hang of getting them to work consistently. It's other features are pretty cool; the light show can be fun, that party booster that lets it add percussion to your music doesn't really interest me. The controls are pretty simple but they're not illuminated but you can find them my touch. I wish it had discreet forward and back buttons. It's waterproof and really durable, so that's a huge plus. I'd recommend this for outdoors use.

The Sony SRS-XB41, like its smaller sibling the SRS-XB31, is a portable party bluetooth speaker - and both speakers tend to have sacrificed sound for gimmicks. The larger size of this model speaker surely contributes to an improvement in overall sound and Sony's trademarked ExtraBass technology can push-out some impressive and clean sounding bass - but the boosting ultimately makes the music sound incomplete and out of balance. Reproduction of music is strong and clear but comes across sounding off and not quite right. The speaker is designed as a party speaker and it sports a colorful line light around its perimeter and includes a couple of strobe lights that flash from the face. The brightness of the lights seems to be tied to the loudness of the music - and according to Sony's promotional information, the lights are supposed to sync to the beat of the music as well but I didn't find that feature to work exactly right. Fortunately, this lighting display feature can be toggled off. One real curiosity with this model is that you can create sound effects through the speaker by interacting with it physically - by tapping or hitting various spots on the speaker, you can generate sounds of a scratch, a snare, and a kick drum. You have to be a little forceful with the speaker to bring-out these sounds but this feature worked reliably - but this feature also presupposes that you will be carrying the speaker around in your hands while you are partying to the music (is that a thing? @@@@@@@ . As with many devices designed for parties, a big selling point is the ability to chain multiple units together to play from a single music source. This speaker is designed for that as well - and is being marketed accordingly - hoping that all of your friends will show up with their own unit to join in the party. The SRS-XB41 also allows you to add a second identical unit in such way that the pair will work stereophonically. The unit is solidly built and heavy enough to give really good support for the bass, though - it feels well made - solid enough to withstand the percussion it is designed to respond to. It is also waterproof enough to rinse vigorously. And it sports a battery life of up to 24 hours (even though that would be under ideal circumstances, that still suggests that it has an outrageously good battery inside).

The Sony XB41 is a Bluetooth and NFC enabled speaker with extended base and enhanced spacial sound. Sony has added a new DSP (Digital Signal Processor), angled speaker and Live sound mode for better 3 dimensional sound output. These speakers sound great ! The sony XB41 carries IP67 water resistance rating. Allowing the speaker to be used in environments they where they may be exposed to water, think pool, beach or on a boat. According to Sony the SRS-XB411 is rustproof even when exposed to salt water. The speaker is also dust proof making it great for camping or even the desert! The fabric covering looks great and is washable. There are 3 different colors available, white, red and black. The shape, size and weight makes them easy to carry to any party or gathering. The sound and Base in these speakers is really out of control! While they are essentially the same speaker as their smaller brothers the SRS- SB21 and SRS SB31 the speaker (and driver) size are different (Sony SRS-XB21 employing a 42mm driver, the SRS-XB31 a 48mm driver and the SRS-XB41 a 58mm driver). The SRS XB41 are capable of connecting with 'Wireless Party Chain' allowing up to 100 wireless speakers with Bluetooth, the music and lights sync-up so everyone dances to the same beat. This is compatible with Sony's other XB speakers with Bluetooth. This is a cool feature, I could get it to work seems like the feature in the android app has not been updated for these speakers and I got the speakers to manually pair by pressing the WPC button on the SBS41 then the WPC button on the SBS31. An additional SRS-SB41 party chain registered and all the the then everything works as expected. Sony will probably update the app and instructions for manually pairing the speakers soon. The feature is fun really expands the sound and could really wind up your party! You can control the speaker from the the Sony Music Center app for android or iPhone. I had no problem installing it on my android smartphone or my wife's iPhone. You can select your favorite playlists, cue the next song and change lighting patterns and sound modes easily. You can stream from Pandora, google play or iTunes and many others. You can stream without the app also. The XB4 1 speaker also comes with party lighting effects. They have line lights that glow in many colors and other lights that flash like a strobe. These can be set to frantic or calming patterns or turned off depending on the mood you are in. They built-in accelerometer which is used by their 'Party Booster' feature. It can detect tapping from different directions and generates a sound and lighting action. Tapping the speaker in different places makes different sounds like a scratch, snare, kick drum and cowbell. You can control the volume of the sound effect, gently for a soft or wack it for a loud. I had a lot of fun banging on the speaker while dancing! The speaker has Stereo Mini Jack (IN), USB A Terminal (DC OUT only) maybe to use to connect to your phone as a battery? , micro USB (DC IN) for charging and wall power. I have a lot of Bluetooth speakers, this is one of my favorites great sound without any worries about getting it wet or dirty!

The Sony XB41 is a unique bluetooth speaker that is set around being able to bring a party vibe no matter where you go. They claim 24 hours of run time with big bass boost for all you lovers of bass out there. Flashing strobes and the ability to add in your own personal beats is a different design that I have yet to see on any other device of this nature. And the ability to fully submerge this speaker in water, can it be true? Can Sony live up to some of its claims and is it really worth the buy? Out of the box this is a very nice looking speaker. The design quality of the speaker shows that it was indeed built with strength and water resistance in mind while still looking very good. I wouldn't expect any less from a Sony product. Out of the box your going to get the power cord and speaker. For some reason on the box it says the speaker is built for Iphone users but the speaker will link to any android device via bluetooth or NFC. On the back side of the speaker you will find the charging port along with a usb port and 3.5mm audio jack. The first thing I noticed was that the ports are covered with a sturdy air tight rubber cover which would prevent any debris and water from entering the unit. There are two claims from Sony that I wasn't exactly eager to try but i'll take their word on it. One being that this is an IP67 rating on the frame design which is similar to a lot of cellphones out there. This basically means you can completely submerge the unit under water with no damage to the hardware, speakers or unit itself. It also means it should have no issues resisting dust or any other debris. This makes this speaker IDEAL for a on the go unit seeing as how sand, water, dirt or any other environmental elements should not cause any issue or concern. The second claim is that the unit is also shock resistant due to the design of the frame and fabric covering it. Sony claims that it can handle about a 4ft drop on to a hardwood floor with no damage to the unit. While I don't recommend giving this test a try it is a nice feature to have as a kind of insurance policy in the event one of your thoughtful guest accidentally knocks the speaker off the counter. There is 24 hour battery life with all the lights turned off and what I can say is with all the lights on full blast and the extra bass mode turned on I got about a little over 18 hours of full battery usage. This is actually not bad when you consider just how much power goes in to running all the light bars and strobes. Lets talk about some of the features that make this unit really unique. First off in order to enable most of the features will you need to download Sony's apps. It's going to require you to actually download two apps. The main app you will need is the Sony music center. The second app you will need to download is Fiestable and it will not appear on your phone but is an additional software app needed to access all the features of the speaker such as lighting effects, party mode, DJ effects and other abilities. Now the app isn't needed to run the unit seeing as how the top of the unit houses buttons for volume control, pause/play, live mode, power button and the Bluetooth sync button. However without the app you will miss out on some interesting features. Through the app you can control the lighting effects of the speaker and how you want them displayed. IF red is your favorite color then you can have the light bar display red all the time. You can also control the strobe features of your speaker and how active they are. One of the cool features that I found I really liked alot was Rave mode. In Rave mode the light bar will keep changing colors and both speakers light up along with the strobe lights that flash on the side of the unit. What made it really cool though is that all the lights will light up and flash in unison with the music that is being played. It looks all very well orchestrated and while I was worried about it looking kinda of cheesy it actually worked very well to the beat of the sound. Now if all that flash isn't your style don't worry you can turn off all the lights and just have audio. There is another mode that is called party booster. While this mode is turned on you can tap on four different areas of the speaker to produce various sounds. For example if you bang on the front of the speaker you can get drum bass. If you tap on the side of the speaker you can get high hat. The sounds can also be customized through the app so you can add whatever sound you want to whatever sensor you want it to be activated by. This feature allows you to make additional music either while the music is playing or turned off. So if you think that country song your listening to is lacking some more cow bell, well then my friend simply activate party booster and jam along to your song and add as much cow bell that you feel is lacking. There is another feature through the app that allows you to be your own DJ and add in effects to your music such as lasers, people cheering, hype men, etc. You can also slow or speed up the track and even scratch on it. This is a really cool feature that I was actually very excited about because it allows you to basically mix your favorite music and add in effects that you may feel would enhance it. I uploaded a picture to show you what that DJ feature looks like. The problem with this feature that I had was sound control. At least as of writing this review there is no ability to control the volume of your DJ sound effects. And what makes it terrible is that the effects are actually louder than your music that is being played. Lets say your jamming to your favorite tune and want to add some lasers. Well when you hit the lasers they come blaring in louder than the music that is being played that it actually startled me at first. Until they can fix this issue with an app update I found this feature to be very disappointing and pointless at this time. Now lets talk sound quality, after all that is what Sony is known for. First thing you need to understand when buying a Bluetooth speaker is a few things. One, it will never sound as good as a full 7.1 audio system with equalizers. Also second these speakers require some burn time or break in period before they truly start to shine. Right off the bat I noticed the sound quality wasn't that great. Once I tuned in my equalizer I noticed an improvement right away. Now Sony is claiming extra bass to push through these speakers that are supposed to be pretty decent. One thing I noticed right off the bat is the Bass tries very hard to push through and sometimes over compensates. While listening to Anberlin " Feel Good Drag" I noticed that the bass was pushing so hard that it actually sounded as if the vocals were being distorted. Im very picky when it comes to my music and I know sometimes I can tend to pick things out that most people don't find but for my wife to walk buy and even point it out to me only confirmed what I was already thinking. Now im not saying the extra bass is a bad thing im only saying it does not work well for the Rock genre. While blasting Young Jeezy " I luv it" man that bass hit so clean and did not take away from any of the vocals or other effects. One thing I noticed about this speaker is it really shines and sounds good with hip hop and dance music. Im not saying that rock or any other genre sound terrible, i'm simply saying that I noticed a little bit of a better quality of sound coming from those type of genre. Now lets talk about Sony's live feature. The live feature is a design that is supposed to give you a 3 dimensional effect and give you a sense of almost being at a live concert. While this feature does not work well for all types of music I did noticed this is where rock music really shined. While listening to some Shinedown on live mode the sound quality got louder with a bigger emphasis on vocals. I actually saw those guys in concert a few years back and I have to say the live mode made me actually feel like I was at their concert minus all the reverb and bad acoustics of the venue I was in. Now while this isn't a 360 speaker one thing i'll say is getting sound quality across the room equally wasn't a problem. No matter what mode or feature you chose to use I found that no matter where I stood in relation to the speaker the sound quality was good and equal, lacking nothing. . Once I blew past my 20 hour mark I noticed the speakers starting to sound even better as they were finally starting to settle in. If you are looking for a good speaker for work. poolside parties, BBQ's or even camping then this is a must have. Really with the sound quality and punch this speaker puts out there is no bad use for this speaker, especially since you have to option to turn off all the flash and lights.

SONY has designed a truly remarkable wireless/bluetooth speaker! The small package weighs less than 3.5 lbs. and is engineered in a way that really pumps out the sound and is easy to tote anywhere. There are a couple of Apps available (Fiestable & Music Center) in which you can wirelessly control not only the sound settings but also how the different lights work. NOTE: You can also use the speaker without using any lights. The speaker is stated to run up to 24 hours on a single charge (without the lights) and for me, this is way more than enough. I also believe it will never run out of charge for most people, even the "Party Animals" The Speaker & perimeter border lights will also sync to your music and can be adjusted to your liking in the App., It also has flashing strobe lights. With the Apps, you can also control setting up your playlist and jumping to cue up different songs in the list as well as changing the sound modes. SONY also incorporated what they call "Party Chain" in which you can wirelessly connect up to 100 of these speakers together & the music and lights will all sync up together for a huge party atmosphere! This is an awesome feature in itself as a lot of other BT/Wireless speakers don't have this capability at all. This is a very well designed unit that Sony has obviously come up with. Not only because of the options you'll have available through the Apps, but most importantly the fantastic sound this small package pumps out! Sound options include: Standard, Live & Extra Bass (XB) The XB puts a little more "Depth" into your music without over powering the mids & highs, which to me is extremely important with my music! I will say that the sound produced still sounds great in all settings but I did notice that depending on room placement parameters and different genres of music, different settings sound better than the others for each situation....But is easily accomplished with a touch of the button or a Tap on the App! I like this speaker enough that I believe I will at least purchase 1 more of these for a more "Party Chained" Stereo surround sound. @@@@@ Gotta have my Tunes!

I've had this speaker for several days now and I must say that I really like it. The color is more burgundy than red, but it is a good looking speaker. Very lightweight, great sound and bass and the disco feature is kind of cool as well. When you download the app, you can adjust the light show and have the option of playing a drum kit or percussions along with the music by tapping various locations on the speaker. I also have the smaller unit, the SRS-XB31 and when you group them in the app, you can play music on both speakers simultaneously with no loss of sound or lag. Pairing them together was a bit of a pain, which is why I gave this four stars. I paired both speakers with my iPhone and it took me several tries, but I was eventually able to get both speakers to play. It was much more difficult when I tried pairing it with my Samsung Galaxy S tablet. It took me the better part of 20 minutes to get both speakers to pair so that I could play them in tandem. The pairing feature might not be such a big deal for most and if that is the case, this would be five stars. However, if that matters to you, then be prepared to spend some time getting it to work. The bluetooth pairing in itself could be easier. I didnt understand why after connecting the device via bluetooth in my device's settings, that I needed to also pair it again in the app. You have to bring both devices within arms reach of each other and follow the instructions in the app from there. Once the pairing is complete, the speaker is great. I would definitely recommend this speaker

The SONY SRS XB41 is a powerhouse! Its not overly big but large enough to produce amazing sound. Its a beast of a speaker! The speaker sits on top of the Sony Bluetooth speaker line up. The speaker once again has the lights, great for a party environment! However, what is most important is the sound. Most BT speakers sound just about the same, chunky and un-inspiring. The Sony has good bass, with a feature called "Live Sound" You can toggle this feature on and off. Live sound is OK, add some echo and not as clear as normal sound. However, you can connect up 100 speaker to create a serious party. Sony indicates that the XB41 has 24 hours battery life with the lights disabled. I would imagine that battery life is decent with the lights turned on. The speaker looks good with any room decor. Overall I like the updated Sony lineup of bluetooth speakers.

This xb-41 sounds amazing. You need to download the music center app to be able to change the light settings. You can also fine tune the sound by turning off the bass boost and or adjusting the bass, midrange and treble settings. We really love the sound it puts out even at a low volume. It just has a nice full sound. . I left the bass boost on and adjusted the mids to plus 4 and treble plus 8. Battery life is awesome too. I really don't use the lights tho It is a neat feature. I use it at the pool, patio, take camping. Or just setting on the deck. . I was looking at others before coming across this. I was looking at the some costing about 250. Like Bose and a couple others. This one costing less then 150. And it can also be paired with multiple speakers is a plus. I am very, very happy with this speaker and I think you will be too.

I have the SRS-XB31 speaker and was so impressed, I picked up the SRS-XB41. One of my favorite features is the wireless party chain (ability to connect multiple speakers). I can link both speakers together to play the same song across both. This works nice to have one in the backyard and one inside the house for everyone to enjoy. The sound quality stands out as excellent. The sound is clear through all volume levels with no distortion. There is definitely an increase in base as the volume is turned up, but it's not overbearing. It comes with the bare minimum of the speaker, charging cable, and (limited) documentation. The first thing I noticed when unpacking is the solid feel of the construction. Some speakers feel hollow inside or fragile. not this one. It's not heavy, but does carry a couple pounds to it. The lights are a nice touch to the speaker and are tight to the speaker so there's no suspecting them to become damaged or loose from normal use. Though I have primarily used it for evening gatherings, I tested it in my workshop. There, it's faced being covered in dust and being dropped twice of the workbench (at about 4.5 feet high). I'm happy to report it's suffered no damage at all. Battery life is approximately as advertised (lasting 24hrs). When I tested, I played music at about 75% volume with lights on for 5 hours to bring it to 50%. I figured the advertised duration was based on easy listening without lights. This is impressive compared to much of its competition.

Nice Speaker, Not So Nice Bass

I'll start by saying the speaker is very well built. The build quality is apparent right away. Very hefty and solid. Design is very nice, low profile footprint and has rubberized grips to keep it in place whether you're indoors or out. Controls are very easy to use and are super intuitive. Volume is very nice for a speaker of this size, it easily fills up a room. Overall sound quality was very tight and clean. I'll get to the bass in a minute. The lighting on this unit is very cool, and really does add a bit of flair, even just for some casual listening, but it can also be turned off quite easily when you'd like it to be. I only have one unit, so could not try the multi pairing for party mode, but it can pair up to 100 of these at a time, so if you have more, that is a great feature to have for multi room or large occasions. Unfortunately for me, the bass on this speaker is lacking. For a speaker of this size, build and most of all price, the bass was simply sub par. Even worse is that "Extra Bass" is advertised as the top feature of the XB41, all over the box and online description. At low volume, sure the bass is very nice, the overall sound is tight, clean and was nice low end. But turn it up to just normal room filing volume, and any amount of bass heavy music like Rock, Pop, Metal or Hip Hop will begin to distort. In order to keep it from distorting, you have to EQ the music to at least flat, in order to increase the volume. I have other speakers in this same size and feature range, and none of them distort bass as badly as the XB41. If you're looking for a nice, low volume speaker with some flair, this is for you. If you want to enjoy your music at a normal listening volume without distorted bass or having to EQ all the bass away, I would keep looking.

Simple Review: The sound on this speaker is amazing and the fun feature of the colors is amazing to the beat. One issue that I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt to but still wish it wasn't there. Is the fact that you have one of those proprietary cables instead of a USB C or Micro-USB like on the models below this one. Extended Review: Let's blast through the unboxing that includes the very generic massive unit which is clearly built well and designed to survive the moisture of my world. One issue I had above and continue to have here is the circler connection which means you can't just use any charger you need this annoying cable which is less likely to be found anywhere you go. I'm sure Sony had some charging problems that require this cable but still don't like that the model below this one uses a basic USB and this one doesn't. Performance is where you will look at that one little complaint and say "I don't care!" The sound is amazing, the bass is strong and it keeps it's clarity no matter the volume level. This is the speaker I grab whenever I want to entertain or just close my eyes and let the music take me. Sound is simply the best I've ever heard in a speaker at this cost point. It's on-par of a speaker I've that's TWICE it's cost. Last thing for performance is battery life, which it does have USB ports on the back to charge up units on the go so if that matters to you than enjoy. I've been using it now for about a week and I'ven't had to charge it yet. I use it for 2-3 hours in the morning and at night and still haven't killed it. Battery life is solid without really have to go to in-depth with it. Wrapping up is this worth it...YESS a thousand times Yes! It's so close to a perfect 5 star it's sad. Once they change out that awful port than it would be the perfect Bluetooth speaker but until than I would say it's easily worth the money. Hope my review helps and thanks for reading it.

Sony recently introduced a lineup of three SRS-XB speakers. At almost a foot long and weighing in at 3 pounds and 5 ounces, the XB41 is far and away the largest of the three and packs the biggeset punch. Like it's middle brother, the XB31, the XB41 also has an interesting party trick: you can tap it to produce various sounds. The smaller XB21 doesn't include this feature. If the idea of tapping the speaker to make various percussion sounds doesn't sound all that useful to you, you'd be right. But it can be a little bit fun. ? You also get a ring of light around the grill and two mini-strobes at the sides that all flash in rhythm. Again, not all that useful, but it adds a touch of fun. But those lights and sounds are just party tricks. The real trick with this speaker is how rich the soundfield is and how deep the bass is. ? For a speaker this size, this is a phenomenal speaker. We tried a variety of types of music, and the XB41 handled them all with ease, returning a really engaging depth of sound and bass response. ? Sony has done a terrific job with their LIVE SOUND mode. In terms of other features, battery life is phenomenal. Sony rates the XB41 for 24 hours of play, without the lights and such. ? And the XB41 carries an IP67 waterproof rating (Sony also says it's dustproof and rustproof). It natively communicates via BT 4.2 and also includes NFC pairing. ? I would have liked to see BT 5.0, since these are a new line of speakers, but 4.2 isn't bad. ? The fact is, most devices you'll use it with don't have BT 5.0, either. Another positive feature is that you can pair up to 100 of these XB speakers together to create what Sony calls a "party chain." ? The lights in each speaker of the chain will operate in unison, which would probably be pretty cool if you linked a number of them together, although I doubt anyone will string 100 of them together any time soon. The party chain can be activated via app or a button on the back of the speaker. I created a party chain with the XB41 and the XB31. It worked flawlessly; the speakers were perfectly synchonized and the sound was excellent. ? The XB41 comes in three color options: black, blue, and red. Mine is red, as pictured. Like it's smaller brother, the XB41 is a terrific portable speaker, and I highly recommend it. ?

For a mid-sized portable speaker, the XB41 has a rich tone and sounds good. The extra bass comes through and helps the sound. It comes with an AC power plug, but also accepts USB power. Since it's larger, it can also be used to charge other devices like a phone. The USB power output is regular. The external material on the device is nice and textured making it easier to grab and hold on too. Setup by BT or NFC is easy, and then you're ready
