I bought this speaker to use outside in my pool area. I keep it mounted on a shelf on my patio, and so far it is working fine outside in the Phoenix heat with no issues. The sound quality is excellent for its small size, and the Google assistant and wifi connectivity is fairly reliable. I have a NetGear WiFi 6 mesh network at home, with a satellite very close to this speaker. It has had very little trouble connecting to the network, and whenever it loses its connection its very easy to fix with the Google Home or Assistant app. I have Google smart speakers and Apple Homepods throughout my home. I would say this speaker was easier to setup than all but the Homepod. I love the mount in the bottom for putting this speaker on a tripod, and the battery life is excellent, so I have been able to move it around the yard and house when having different parties. I used it at a charity car wash too, where it played all day with no issues, paired to an iPad via bluetooth. I'm actually considering buying a second one and seeing how well they pair together. I think this is an excellent speaker for anyone who wants something more durable than a Homepod that can be used indoors or outdoors. (One note on durability... the case can scratch fairly easily if banged about, but so far no cracks or major damage... and it is holding up extremely well outdoors in the Phoenix heat and dust, although it is kept in the shade.)

Speaker Is Kind Of Big.. But It Produces Clear Highs And Mids.. Awesome Bass For Its Size.. Great Sound.. Gets Loud.. Very Little If Any Distortion.. The Only Thing About The Speaker I Didn't Like Is.. You Have To Go Through Google Home To First Connect And Pair To Your Phone.. "THROUGH WIFI ONLY".. You Cant Pair It Just Through Bluetooth

A very nice speaker with a very good bass. It could have been a bit better in looks but for a speaker it does not really matter for me personally. Battery : Good Sound : Great which really matters .. :) Bluetooth connection.. pretty stable and covers a long distance

I love this speaker. It is perfect for listening to the bass heavy music I like and it’s loud enough to turn up and hear throughout the whole house. Clarity is decent, too.

For its size it’s got great sound and cool lights! Connecting to it requires the google home app. Which can be a little invasive if you let it be. Overall very cool speaker!

The best speaker I could find for the price range. Sound is crisp and clear plus it is loud enough to use it for tailgating and small events. Easy to pair and battery lasts a decent time. The lighting adds a cool effect!

The fact that I can tell it to play all my saved play lists via Google assistant was a big selling point. The sound and cool led lights are very nice and I'm impressed by the quality of the sound so far. I didn't need anything powerful, just something for when I BBQ. And the fact that I can charge it and use it without having to plug it in is a big bonus. You'll be happy with this.

This is a very good sounding speaker which can fill a surprisingly large space with full range sound, much more than you'd expect from a speaker this size. The battery life is decent although the standby battery life is rather poor in my opinion. This device loses standby battery power at a faster rate than just about any other battery powered device I can think of. The Biggest downside for me was lack of an aux input. Also the set up was tricky, they try very hard to pull you into the Google assistant ecosystem. And you need two apps to make just basic adjustments to the unit. Also if you do link this unit to your router it is very difficult to unlink it! I just wanted a good sounding Bluetooth speaker and wasn't too happy about all the difficulty in setting up just for that purpose only. That being said I have not found a better sounding Bluetooth speaker in this size and price range. If you're OK with the no auxiliary input and willing to go through a rather frustrating set up procedure, I can definitely recommend this speaker to anyone who wants big sound in a small package at a reasonable price.

Love everything except ONE thing about this speaker. Nice having google asistant while in the pool. Great sounding bass. Only thing is it seems to drain the battery even when turned off. I'll check it at 80% after a pool outing then turn it off...next time I go to grab it it'll be dead. So I have gotten to plugging it in after each use. Otherwise this is an exceptional speaker!

The Sony SRS-XB501G is a great portable bluetooth speaker. It has just the right amount of bass, treble, and mid-range sound. The sound that comes out is Awesome! The only downside is, you gotta link it to Google Home, before you can link it to bluetooth or NFC. Once you do, great sounding speaker. I would definitely recommend buying this speaker.

Overall was really happy with the speaker. Nice versatile speaker with awesome bass. The battery seems to be losing capacity faster than expected. Wifi & Bluetooth features are nice. Wifi is flaky at times but nothing power cycling couldn't fix. Was surprised on how much thump the bass provided on this speaker, the bass exceeds expectation.

I really like the Sony selection for Bluetooth tech. they have made it easy for me for the last 5 years and this is no different very easy to set us and connect to my home network. They go direct through Spotify account and plays the music I listen to and the sound is very good to me it is not my BOSE good but for the dollars spent I would buy or recommend to a friend.

I use this speaker in my garage and I do a lot of woodworking so this speaker gets pretty dirty and its quality in sound has been the same as when I got it out of the box, which is great. Since i'm using this a lot while doing a lot of hands on work in the garage the main feature that is clutch is the google assistant built in. Not having to go to my phone, unlock it and change a song, stop, play, change volume, etc. is awesome. I will say as a separate note specifically at Best buy; I bought this online through the Best Buy website, thinking that it was a new product (and was packaged as so) but when setting this up I realized that someone had previously owned this because it already had some wireless credentials, emails registered to the device out of the box. I contacted Sony and figured out how to factory reset but it was unsettling that had I not noticed it, someone could've potentially had access to this device.
