I was very skeptical about the price point this neckband speakers. I was wrong! I have a surround sound and watching movies or shoes late at night made it a bit difficult because it was either too loud or too low to sometimes hear conversations when watching a movie or show. I had to resort to captions at times, so that I wouldn't disturb my family. After two months, I can report that these neckband speaks are amazing and have resolved the issue for late night watchers with love ones asleep. To be transparent, I do own a Sony Bravia Oled and do benefit for Dolby Atmos capabilities, and haven't head what the audio sounds like with out Dolby. My brother who also owns a Bravia tv is now interested in a pair. Lastly, i have not had any issues and am truly happy with my pair!

One of the best electronic gadgets that I’ve purchased all year! This thing is incredible! Now I’m able to have loud and immersive sound right in my ears without disturbing any of the neighbors that I share walls with because I don’t have to use my actual home entertainment speakers. Whether watching movies, or video gaming, you’ll be amazed at how much better the audio experience is with this neck speaker! The additional hands-free telephone calling feature is a major plus!

Sounds great, not totally private audio

TLDR: (that’s Too Long, Didn’t Read) A comfortable and convenient way to listen to music or movies but isn’t totally private audio. Pros: * Comfortable to wear for long periods. * Sounds great. * Bass you can feel. * 360 Audio for supported sources. * Long battery life. Cons: * Bass vibrates your collar bone which may feel weird. * Audio is not totally private and can be heard by others easily. * Controls are not completely obvious by touch, but you can get used to it. Summary: I use a similar product from Bose every day that looks very similar but has one big difference; that one is designed for private audio - the speakers supposedly shoot the sound directly toward your ears so you can listen without bothering anyone around you. These Sony neck phones don’t make that claim and others near me could hear the sound clearly from the same distance (although not as clearly as I could), but the audio, at least for my ears, sounded much better than than my old Bose. You may be asking yourself why someone would want to wear their headphones on their shoulders rather than the traditional headphones with cups that cover your ears. That’s the important bit - these headphones sound great but don’t block your ears so you can hear other people or things around you. They’re not as heavy to wear because, rather than resting on the top of your head and pressing against your ears, they sit on your shoulders. I can speak from experience that neck phones are much more comfortable for all-day wearing than traditional headphones. Battery life is exceptional with a claimed all-day 12 hours of use. A quick 10-minute charge gets you an hour of playtime and they are easy enough to charge with USB-C that plugs in on the outer edge of the unit. I would have put the charging LED near the plug on the outer edge but Sony decided to put it on the inside edge. Not a huge deal but not the decision I would have made. These sound great for music and have support for Dolby Atmos with compatible sources like Amazon Music, etc. They also come with a transmitter box and optical cable that can plug in to supported Sony TVs to provide clear surround audio from your TV. You can actually listen to movies and TV in surround without headphones or a big surround setup. That all really makes a difference considering that the speakers are not covering your ears. You can listen to movies, podcasts, or just music and it all sounds fantastic! As is typical with Bluetooth headphones, these also have microphones so you can use them for personal or work calls, or talking to your favorite voice assistant. They offer a ton more freedom to move around and not get fatigued by wearing standard headphones or earphones. No one on your call will know that you’re essentially using a neck-worn speakerphone. There are buttons on one inner edge for adjusting the volume and a multifunction button for playing/pausing music or answering/ending a call. The other inner edge has buttons to mute the microphone and turn the unit on or off. The buttons are easy to find by touch once you learn where they are. I probably would have put the “Up” button closer to my neck and the “Down” button further away from my neck, but again, a small “nit.” If you like listening to great audio while moving around, but don’t want to have your ears constantly covered, these Sony neck phones are awesome. Great audio for anything you’re listening to, great battery life, and a comfortable all-day fit. Plus. they won’t bother anyone else nearby as much as a Bluetooth speaker would.

Sony Quality, Atmos Sound, Very Comfortable!

Sony’s new Wireless Neckband Speaker is a very nice and innovative option for a comfortable, private video listening experience which makes no compromises with the full audio range of your content. This premium quality device incorporates a newly introduced audio signal processor which creates a virtual Atmos sound system using just the two drivers in the neckband. Sony is one of the largest consumer electronic companies in the world. It began in 1946 as an electronics shop but soon began producing its own products, starting with tape recorders and transistor radios in the mid-1950s. Sony built a reputation for quality and introduced many innovations in portable audio, including the Walkman in 1979, the CD disc in 1983, flash memory for audio and video in 1998 and the Blu-ray HD disc in 2000. Its consumer audio products including stereo component systems, speakers and headphones are very well-regarded for quality and features. Here is a summary of the key features: • Sony Wireless Neckband Speaker – Model SRS-NS7 • 360 Spatial Sound Personalizer to create Dolby Atmos sound envelope • Bluetooth Version 5.0 supports SBC/AAC/LDAC codecs, multi-point connections • Flexible ergonomic form factor, rests comfortably on shoulders • X-Balanced speaker units directs sound upward towards ears • Passive radiators direct deep bass downward into your body • Built-in microphone for phone conversations • Splash-resistant (IPX4) • Easy-clean silicon and silicon-infused fabric surfaces • Up to 12 hours of listening time on full charge • 60 minutes of playing time from 10 minute quick charge • USB-C power connection ports on neckband speaker and wireless transmitter • TOSLink (digital optical audio) wireless transmitter powered by TV USB port • Volume control, power and Bluetooth controls on neckband speaker • Dimensions: 1.8 inch height, 7.2 inch depth, 9.6 inch width; Weight: 8 ounces • Includes neckband speaker, wireless transmitter, optical cable, two USB-C cables • One year warranty on parts and labor I should note that I am a bit obsessive about the sound output from my TV. I have a premium (i.e., expensive!) 7.1.4 Atmos sound bar with rear speakers that collectively has 18 separate drivers. But I still feel sometimes that I am not really getting the full movie theater sound experience – especially for big blockbuster action movies. Should I go out and spend five times the cost of my present sound bar for a true home theater system of amplifiers and massive speakers? Or is there another alternative? My hope was that this relatively inexpensive Sony neckband speaker might be that alternative. Setup is fairly easy. First, charge up the neckband speaker with the included USB-C cable. (Full charge takes about four hours from a fully discharged state.) Then set your TV’s digital audio output to PCM. Next, plug the USB-C cable from the wireless transmitter into your TV’s USB port (essentially all flat screen TVs have them) and attach the optical audio cable from the wireless transmitter to the optical audio output of the TV. Then, turn on the power and activate the Bluetooth pairing on the neckband speaker. At that point you will hear the TV audio output from the neckband speaker. Finally, download the Sony Headphones Connect app. This excellent app will take you through a series of steps to customize the sound from the SRS-NS7 neckband speaker. (One slightly bizarre element in that process was taking photos of your ears!) You will find an equalizer setup as well as many other sound controls which you can use to tweak the output of the neckband speaker to your personal specifications. The neckband is very comfortable and fairly lightweight (8 ounces). Sony has employed an excellent ergonomic design to maximize comfort and fit. The shape follows your shoulders and chest to distribute the weight and ensure a good fit. The upward-firing speakers direct their output toward and in front of your ears, giving you the sense that the sound is coming toward you and around you. The passive radiators (which produces the bass) drive those low notes into your neck which amplifies the apparent level. You really feel it. OK, enough about the shape and how to connect it! How does this neckband actually sound? Well, in a word, fulfilling! The Sony SR-NS7 drivers have a beautiful, faithful reproduction of mid-ranges, clear highs without being too bright and yet they produce significant bass. My standards for speaker quality are Cannonball Adderly’s “Country Preacher” and Miles Davis’ “Kind of Blue” albums. I know every note on both of these classics and the slightest deviation is like nails on a blackboard. This speaker system passed that tough test with gold stars for quality, sound level and range. I also ran them through several tests for frequency response, sound purity and channel separation and they scored very well. But this is not just a simple speaker system – it is designed to give a faithful illusion of a full Atmos speaker set. Can it do that? I accessed several YouTube videos which allow you to test your audio system setup by sequentially outputting a sound to a hypothetical 7.1.4 system. The videos display the 7 horizontal channels (center, left, right, side left, side right, rear left and rear right) and you hear the sound coming from that speaker source. Then the four overhead channels (left and right front height, left and right rear height). By listening to these YouTube videos with the neckband speaker on you could clearly hear the sound in the direction indicated. Dolby also has several videos which illustrate Atmos sound with planes and helicopters flying overhead and from side to side. I watched several recent action movies (Marvel blockbusters and recent Star Wars sequels) using the SRS-NS7 and the audio experience was just outstanding. You will really feel that sounds are occurring to your side, behind and above you, in addition to those sounds you normally sense from near the screen. No, it is not as good as a full-fledged 7.1.4 home theater with real, top quality speakers placed carefully around the listener but it is an awfully good (and very economical!) substitute. For me, adding the SRS-NS7 neckband speaker to my 7.1.4 sound bar setup finally gave me that full movie theater sound experience which I have been seeking. I assure you that nothing matches the rich sound experience you will achieve if you combine the SRS-NS7 with an excellent sound bar. What other merits does this system have? Well, it has a nice range. I obtained flawless reception up to about 50 feet from the base unit. I own three sets of top quality headphones and objectively, their sound reproduction is probably better than the neckband speaker alone. But if extended private listening of a movie or sports event is desired you can turn off your TV sound system and just use the neckband. The sound can be heard by others but it will be very muted to them and the comfort factor for you is certainly much better than wearing headphones. Bottom line - the Sony SRS-NS7 Wireless Neckband Speaker is an excellent choice for serious movie fans who want a very personalized audio reproduction and the ability to blast the soundtrack without disturbing others in the household or their neighbors. You will be glad you chose it!!!

Functions great, but after 10hrs use already has a hole in the speaker fabric. That’s just bad quality!!! I contacted some support (case 07587609) and there answer was “sorry that’s not a warranty issue”. Warranty or not, a 1 month old product with 10hrs of regular use should not be falling apart. Shame on you Sony! Buy something else!

Handy for Me time to experience spatial sound

Review of Sony SRS-NS7 The speaker sit on the shoulder and emulate 360 spatial sound as it is closer physically to the ear. The sound effect is vibrant while watching movies and clear sound for music and call. To use properly need to be personalized using Sony application “Headphone”. It has several steps to recognize user ear shape which allow the proper adjustment of sound. Connecting with TV can be paired via wireless transmitter or if using streaming device then can be connected directly via bluetooth connection in both cases. This setup is straight forward as is many headsets and speakers in the market. What is unique is the personalizing process which need to follow the steps from the app. This process might need multiple attempt as at least in my experience couldn’t make it recognize immediately in first attempt. Once connected to the TV or streamer, most of benefit can be noticed during movie watching. Can tell the different of spatial and sharp sound effect. Also it can be used as stand alone speaker placing on the desk for instance, and naturally the sound effect is less noticeable. Can be paired up to two devices, and can be switched. Summarinzing its downside that might not be for other users: 1. While watching movie and at certain volume level feels too close if compared to stand alone sound system. In stand alone system if volume is loud doesn’t necessarily create annoyance while SRS-NS7 does. 2. At certain volume, it feels vibrating on the shoulder; 3. While it is charging, cannot be connected to use as stand alone speaker and continue listening. 4. For existing Sony device users and have Music Center, need to install additional application Headset On the positive side: 1. Sound effect is noticeable as Sony describe, but personally it is good put certain volume level. 2. Unable to use as stand alone while charging. 3. Connectivity is stable and impressive the distance coverage. For instance my TV set and connectivity is on the first floor, then moved around waked to second floor master bedroom and the sound was still clear without interruption. SRS-NS7 is good to have gadget to replace stand alone sound system for “me” time experience or for who have hearing problem watching tv. But its experience of using multiple Sony app and personalization process, and some annoyance that created as volume is high makes bit less than perfect.

Sony’s NEW SRSNS7 neckband speaker is here and to sum it up in a few words, the speaker is good, but it is for a niche market. Most people use headphones when consuming their media or simply blast the media from whatever device they are using. But for those who are into audio devices that allow for being aware of surroundings, such as the Bose Frames, this may be a product for you. This unique speaker is a speaker that goes around your neck and essentially amplifies the sound of the media you are consuming with the upward speakers. ================== SOUND: This speaker might be used by someone who wants to be aware of their surroundings while consuming their media. I could also see those who are hard of hearing using this device. Movies, music, and podcasts are some of the items I used to test this speaker with. The sound of this speaker is good enough to where it’s not too loud, so your ears won’t get blown out. Overall, the sound is good, the acoustics are well-tuned, and the sound is deep and clear. For example, while watching the 2015 Mad Max: Fury Road, the rumbling sounds of the cars and action sounded exceptionally well. But, there were times where voices were being drowned out by other sounds. (even with using the EQ in the app) I would not use these to listen to music, music was subpar. The sound wasn’t as balanced as most speakers and playing around with the EQ in the app didn’t do much as well. But I’ll admit, the 360 spatial audio with music was a neat experience. ================== FEATURES: This speaker works best with 360 spatial sound. Music can be enjoyed with 360 spatial audio with select music services but unfortunately, as for TVs, this feature is only available for the Sony BRAVIA XR TV’s. A bit disappointing considering that the main part of Sony’s marketing for this speaker is the 360 audio and unless you have a BRAVIA TV, you won’t be able to experience it while watching TV. But the speaker can still be connected to a TV by using the included wireless transmitter and optical digital cable. Some other notable features are: -The speaker has about 12 hours of battery life which was plenty and lasted a couple of days - Speaker can also be used to connect to your tablet, phone, or PC by using Bluetooth. -Volume, play/pause buttons are located on the inner-left side of the speaker -There’s also a microphone built-in for calls. -IPX4 splash resistant, although, it is not recommended to submerge this in water -Quick charging capable, about 10 minutes of charging allowed for approximately 60 minutes of playtime -Sony Headphones Connect app is available and allows for additional settings for the speaker ================== COMFORT: Comfort depends on the person. I found the neckband speaker comfortable and wearing the speaker for a couple of hours did not bother me. For others, comfort may differ depending on many factors. There is limited adjustability with the speaker, but it is flexible and ergonomic. ================== CONCLUSION: Overall, I do think this is a decent device. Movies sounded great but the disappointing part was the music. I felt music could’ve been a bit more balanced in sound. 360 audio was a neat experience with music but unfortunately is not available while watching TV since Sony’s BRAVIA XR TV is the only TV that supports this feature as of now. If you are in the market for an audio device that allows you to be aware of your surroundings or if you want to use this for watching TV, I do suggest you try these out.

Summary: Sony’s attention to quality is apparent in this product. The sounds quality is nothing short of amazing. Unboxing: The speakers come with wireless neckband speaker, instructions, reference guide, 30 day 360 reality audio music trial, limited one year warranty, license agreement, charging cable, DC Cable, Digital Cable, and TV connection dock. The speaker is set up is fairly easy. The app does most of the work for you, the users only real ‘job’ is to download the app, take pictures of your ears to ensure the sound adapts to your ears. If you utilize it with a Bravia TV, connect it to the TV for setup the first time, this will enable additional features if you use with certain TV’s. Design/ Use: Overall, very ergonomic and sits very comfortable on your shoulders, neck, and color bone. The quality seems solid as it carries some weight. You can conveniently control the volume from the device it’s connected to, so need to remove the speaker. I enjoyed using it on walks, cooking and mowing the lawn as it is easy to pay attention to your surroundings while enjoying podcasts or music. The acoustics are nothing short of incredible. Listening to various genres of music from Classical, Phantom of the Opera (musicals), Kyoto by Skrillex (Alternative), Cancion Bonita and Roberto in Beso (Latin), Hypnotize (Hip Hop), and Losing my Religion (rock) audio was detailed and punch. People around me did not notice too much sound bleeding from the speaker causing little annoyance to them. The speakers allow you to listen to the music in the context that it was intended to convey. You truly feel speakers are surrounding you while focusing on your immediate ear/head area. The only thing I would change about these speakers is I wish they included a case with it. As these speakers would be perfect on road trips, flights, etc. Otherwise these speakers are a great purchase and provide an outstanding experience.

This unit is lighter than it looks and actually fits more comfortable then I thought. The pairing was much easier to do once I read the direction completely. The sound is great and can be enhance. ie adding bass etc. What is interesting and cool about the unit. It surrounds you head with the audio you are listening to or watching on tv. When you remove it from around you neck, you think the sound is still going to be loud, it's not, it's quiet. Then volume/sounds stays concentrated in the circumference and location of the unit. I loved it! I recommend it. BUT...it is waaaaaay over priced which why I gave it 4 stars and which is why i returned it. I would pay about a $100 to $150. If you want one put it on your christmas list and maybe someone who loves you beyond ridiculous pricing will buy it for you.

Sound quality is great especially if using the optical puck to get surround sound in movies or games. A little more bass would be welcome but overall the sound quality is much better than you'd expect. It's also very comfortable. My wife loves to use it while doing housework. Headphones fall out or block out important sounds door knocks or kids and speakers don't typically follow you around the house. After wearing it a whole you forget it's there and it's like your just in the middle of the music that seems to just be around you.

Definitely an interesting style speaker. I use this when husband is sleeping on the couch. Easy to setup and charge. Easy to pair with multiple devices. Sound is pretty good. Could be used if hard of hearing to amplify sound. The only complaint would be, it does get a little heavy if wearing it for extended hours.

Thank you for the detailed review of the SRS-NS7, MichelleN. It's great to hear that you find the speaker easy to set up, charge, and pair with multiple devices. We are also pleased that the sound quality meets your expectations.

You mentioned that the speaker could be useful for individuals who are hard of hearing, which is a valuable insight. Regarding your concern about the weight, prolonged use can indeed make the device feel heavy. This is useful feedback that we will take into consideration for future product improvements.

Thank you again for your review. Your feedback is important to us and helps us improve our products. If you have any further questions or need assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us.

This neckband is comfortable to wear for me. The sound is clean and crisp. It also produces a small, but noticeable amount of bass. In addition, the support for higher quality audio codecs makes a difference in sound reproduction. The construction is sturdy, but gives behind the neck when needed. With care, it seems like they would last awhile. I did try the Dolby Atmos feature with a newer Bravia TV. It is interesting. The surround sound is effective.

Sony was thinking outside the box when they came up with this neck speaker. It is basically like having surround sound from whatever source that goes with you. Great sound, including downward firing bass, which will startle you when your shoulders vibrate, but being downward pointing-the bass is muffled a bit which is unavoidable with normal use. If you prop up the back an inch off your shoulders the total sound spectrum increases exponentially. Battery life is 10-12 hours, but you cannot charge while using, charge time is longish. Bluetooth pairing works well and once paired it will automatically connect to source when turned on. One complaint is the female voice announcing power on/off and other things is way too loud. The advantage of using this versus headphones or buds is that you can hear the real world around you and you avoid ear pain. The included Bluetooth transmitter plugs into any usb and has great range. Or just use your sources' bluetooth if available.

      Hi niccar,

Fantastic! We are really thrilled to hear you are satisfied with the incredible sound quality- especially the immersive surround sound, long-lasting battery life, great Bluetooth pairing & connection, and overall performance of our SRS-NS7 Wireless Neckband Speaker. We appreciate your feedback with the voice guidance and when charging the unit. As part of the normal operation, when the neckband speaker is connected to an AC outlet or a computer, the neckband speaker automatically turns off. While connected with a power source, the neckband speaker does not turn on.

I bought this for my dad for Father's Day - a surgery from back in the day closed off his left ear drum, so any entertainment (TV, podcasts, etc) he listens to needs the volume turned ALLLL the way up (which drives my mom nuts). He finds headphones uncomfortable, so when I saw these on sale I thought they would be the perfect gift. They work great! The sound and vibration makes it so he gets an immersive entertainment experience that can't be heard if you're sitting a few feet away in another room. Set up was easy and the speakers are nice and light - after a few minutes it's easy to forget you are wearing them. I've used them a few times to listen to music while doing chores around the house and I really enjoyed them. We've only had them for a little over a month so I can't speak to durability, but so far, so great!

I Can Hear the TV Again

I was looking for something to help hear the TV without blasting everyone else out of the room. The associates suggested this. And the associates were great. We have a Samsung TV so I was a little worried it may not work with it since it is Sony. But I plugged it in (with the help of a you tube video) and started using it. It is comfortable and I am able to hear without the TV volume turned up. And the rest of the family can have the TV as low as they want. When my better half goes to bed, I can even turn the TV volume off and still hear clearly. Not sure how long the battery lasts at full charge, but I can usually watch about 4 hours, but it could last longer. The headset lets me know when the battery is getting low. It was a bit more than I had planned to pay, but so glad I did. Happy with the purchase.
