The sonic experience is excellent, but it has software issues. Routinely it starts up not remembering the last used input. You have to tell it what input to use every time you turn it on, which gets old really fast. At less than less than 2 years old, it has failed the same way as the STR-DN 1080 that I had before it. The soft start power amp relay doesn’t activate so there’s no sound output. Poor quality.

The behavior observed with the STR-AN1000, where it does not remember the last used input and instead defaults to the TV input upon startup, is considered normal operation. This is because the receiver is designed to prioritize the TV input when it is turned on, to ensure that it is ready for use.
About the issue related with the sound, here are a few steps you can follow to troubleshoot the problem: Disconnect the power cord from the STR-AN1000 and leave it unplugged for about 2 minutes. Then, reconnect the power cord and turn the unit on. Verify that your STR-AN1000 has the latest firmware update. Also, you can navigate to 'Setup' - 'Speaker Settings' - 'Manual Speaker Settings' and perform a 'Test Tone' to check if the speakers are working correctly.

Access your TV's sound settings and set it to output sound through the STR-AN1000 (Audio system).

The wifi connection and app controlled settings makes setting up a breeze. Connects well with my Bravia TV. If you're looking to upgrade without breaking the bank this is the one.

The highlight for me it has LDAC and Dolby Features bringing a much improve picture and audio experience, no intergrarion of spotify or anything line so.

Glad you're enjoying the upgrade! Just to clarify, you can actually stream Spotify directly.
While there isn't an on-screen app menu, the STR-AN1000 has Spotify Connect, Chromecast built-in, and AirPlay 2. You just open Spotify on your phone and select the receiver as your speaker.

Good Sound - buggy CEC
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this refurbished to replace my Onkyo TX-NR828 that had the older HDMI 1.4 connections. The surround effects from this receiver are much more pronounced (once calibrated) than the old Onkyo. The sound feels less warm/rich. On balance it is much better for movies, but not as good for music. My biggest complaint is the buggy CEC implementation. The volume does not display on the screen when changed via a remote that is controlling the Sony via CEC (like from an Apple TV or Nvidia Shield). Sony really needs to fix this, because it is annoying. CEC is not rocket science. On balance it is good, especially if you are not using it with a projector (where the receiver might be behind you).

Massive step up from previous hand me downs. The sound quality is great as you’d expect when paired with quality speakers. The Bluetooth interface and pairing is very intuitive. I did have one issue with a hard freeze when watching a movie through Paramount. Not sure if it got too warm in the cabinet or the issue was unrelated to the receiver. Removing power for a minute or two fixed it. No issues since. Great long term investment

Immediately noticed better clarity in sound and the set-up was much easier and by extension faster too. Pairs great with my LG oled , ps5 and apple 4k . Have this paired with klipsch speakers and atmos speakers . Movie nights never sounded better . Really enjoying it !

Auto cal distances are a bit off adjustment with laser measure helps. Also make sure to try different modes to taste. Definitely not plug n play take your time and dial it in and its nice.

The setup was pretty easy using the on screen menu and it's a great value for the price. I paired it with my 4k apple TV and it works great.

We bought this Sony amplifier and all I can say is Oh my goodness the sound that comes out of the speakers is what I was wanting when I bought the speakers. I highly recommend it.

The only down fall was the laggy glitchy Home Screen operating system. Now this AN1000 will knock you in your seat with sound and with the smooth operating system. This is definitely a better upgrade and worth the wait! My speaker setup is klipsch x2 KF-28, x2 R-120sw, RP-450c, x2 R-40SA,x2 R-14S and man this receiver hit hard! I definitely recommend this receiver to anyone upgrading or in the market new user!
