The old Blu Ray player was built in to my harmon/kardon avr receiver and was failing and I was looking for a replacement. Sony makes a great streaming Blu Ray/4K player. I got a great deal on a Best Buy "open-box" excellent unit for $199.00 and am very happy. Fast acquisition when streaming and I have played my CD's and MP3 audio files with no problems. I currently have it connected to my 51" Samsung Plasma TV but if my TV ever has to be replaced this Sony unit will make me ready for a new 4K OLED TV when the time comes. Great price, quick shipping. I'm a "satisfied" customer.

Great picture quality (as are most 4K players), but ease of operation, great feature set and quality feel and quiet operation set this player apart from most others I've looked at. For the price, there is nothing else that comes close. It even outperforms my $500 Oppo Player I would have liked to have the buttons on the remote lit up, but that's not a big problem.

I bought this as an upgrade from an older Sony Blu-ray player that was the first such player sold in the USA. Problem was, the Blu-ray specification has evolved since that older player was manufactured and it wouldn’t play some of my discs, including the Hobbit movies. I bought this one because the price was right and it got good reviews. The main thing that impresses me so far is how FAST it is, especially compared to my old player (which is now upstairs on a non-4K TV). Picture quality has been excellent, but I haven’t played any 4K content yet. I also haven’t streamed anything using it because we don’t subscribe to Netflix or any other such service. This unit is also a fraction of the size of my old player. The one thing I would change so far is that the remote's buttons don’t light up when you pick it up. That’s dumb. I’m sure I’m hardly unique in liking to watch movies with the lights off. The remote would be easier to use if it lit up—but I didn’t dock any stars for this issue because we have a universal remote that does light up and I programmed that to operate this player, thus mooting the issue.

The UBP-x700 does a very good job of picture presentation with 4k, Blu ray, and regular DVDs. Compared to a Panasonic DMP UB 900, the picture is almost as good, with the DMP providing a slighly clearer picture for 4k and Blu Ray. Upscaling is very good, especially with regular DVDs. The WiFi works well, [I have a NetGear 6250 router], and established a strong connnection, although I only use the WiFi on the player to update the system. I use a RoKu for streaming. The Sony plays just about any type of format. I did not experience any of the skipping or blackouts that seemed to affect the sony 800 series, so perhaps that issue has been resolved. Overall, the Unit performs well, and will present regular DVDs quite well, when hooked up to a 4k TV. DolbyVision was not an issue for me, as I have a Samsung Tv. The Set-up was easy. The remote is on the small side, pretty much the same as with other Sony player remotes in style and function.

It is easy to use. Setup was easy. The DVD players boosts the Regular blu ray dvds quality to almost 4K, and does, I feel, a very good job. Even regular dvds look enhanced with a wonderful picture. The height is very slim so will slide under my low tv to fit on the tv stand without needing an extra shelf.

This Sony Blu-ray player does everything I expected it to. The picture quality is great. The set up is super easy. I would definitely buy this again. I ordered this online and it was delivered promptly. I also like that it's a little bigger, so it's not swallowed by my TV stand.

I wanted to tryout some 4k DVDs since most Streaming isn't 4K. I found an Openbox return, It didn't have a power cord. Returned it but Best Buy found a cord that worked. For $20.00 you can take the chance on a Openbox. Being a techie I determine it probably need the SW updated, I did that and cleaned the dust off and it and it worked fine. The player is fine but 4K DVDs are over priced so I don't use it much. Mostly Stream from services. That's why I didn't give a higher score. Reason for writing the review is you can get great deal with openbox. I saved over $200.00.

Great little player. Fired up right away. And played flawlessly. 4k discs and regular Bd look fabulous. Little short on the app side. But this worked great as well when streaming. I like the smallness of the unit. Fits were I need it to be. Great price. Totally recommend.

My first Blu-Ray player and it outputs gorgeous images to my 4K TV! It connects to a Sony STR-DN1080 AV Receiver. All three devices upscale source to 4K and I cannot distinguish quality differences of up-scaled images from a std DVD and those from my cable service. Installation and setup was a breeze! On-screen prompts walk you thru setup for wi-fi and streaming services. Can't be much simpler to operate. Insert a disc and the movie begins to play on the TV! It automatically switched the AV receiver from cable to the DVD - no buttons to push. So, even my wife can do it - hooray! Streaming services built in includes Amazon Prime TV so that was a plus. Bought it for anticipated future audio system upgrades so cannot speak to audio quality yet. I thinks it's a winner.

My bluray player gave up the ghost, and I decided to step up to a 4k player in the event we move up to a 4k TV. We replaced a Samsung unit that had been noisy and given us issues for a long time. I was hesitant to spend the extra money, but glad I did. We have an older Sony LCD tv, and I was very pleased with the player remote tv features working with tv, even though it's a little older. We have played DVD's and Bluray disks with no issues so far. We have FireTV for streaming, so I haven't used the streaming features of the player, although I did set them up - that was very straightforward and easy. All in all, very satisfied with unit. I was very pleased to find this on sale at Best Buy and $50 cheaper than Amazon at the time, along with 2 day shipping I thought it was a very good deal for Best Buy!

I hooked this up to my AV system and now I can watch 4K movies. Easy to use and it has lots of extra stuff you may or may not use but the option is there. Great Blu Ray player at a good price.

Very solid little 4k player. Not without occasional skipping, but very rare and I think worth the price. Won't be one you use forever but if you don't want to drop too much you could do worse.

I've spend the last 6 months building my ultimate 4K entertainment system, with LG 65" OLED TV and Samsung-Harmon ATMOS soundbar. Purchase of this ATMOS-capable dvd player completed the setup, I could get a taste of ATMOS sound by streaming ATMOS demos from YouTube. That was awesome enough, but streaming still requires compression, which degrades the experience. Only physical media - Blu-ray UHD dvds with ATMOS audio track - can deliver the ultimate ATMOS sound experience. I installed this dvd player after getting home from Best Buy, popped-in Mad Max Fury Road (billed as the best ATMOS dvd out there), and hit "play". WOW. Enveloping ATMOS sound from front, sides, above and behind. At $189, this dvd player is a great buy. Other ATMOS players I looked at were more than $100 higher in price. I'm very happy with this dvd player. The purchase experience was very convenient too. Bought it online and picked-up at my closest Best Buy within half an hour of hitting "checkout" on my computer keyboard.

For the price this was a great buy! Fit right in to my budget and the size of the 4K, Blue Ray and DVD player was much smaller than I anticipated. Quality of picture and ease of use was impressive!

Great 4K player. No issues. East setup. Streaming and setup was easy to complete as well. Pic and sound quality is fantastic to all devices.

Pairs well With 4K TV to enhance picture and sound of high def material to 4K. Slim design is perfect for hiding or minimizing space. Build quality is good. Features are top notch. Only caveat here is you must use a remote. Though to be fair not sure many are actually pushing buttons on a product. It is equipped with your typical mainstay apps; not much more. If you primarily plan on using this for streaming, then there are better more expensive options. I recommend for picture quality and ease of use.

Very good 4K Blu-Ray Player. Easy to install and connect to WiFi. The reason why I purchased was to connect to a 4K TV and Soundbar. I wanted a player that supports Dolby AMOS (as well as other Dolby formats which is does). I connected via an HDMI cable directly to a Samsung Soundbar. I was worried about connecting Sony to a Samsung TV/Soundbar but there are no such problems (Samsung does not manufacture Blu-Ray Players). The pictures and sound are great. Even my older DVDs from my collection look good. I would recommend buying this player.

This 4k player from Sony does a great job playing 4k and upscaling other dvd's. It is also great for streaming apps such as Netflix. Got it at a reasonable price while it was on sale!

I'll be honest, we bought this player primarily to use the Amazon Prime and Netflix apps and feed the audio through our receiver. Our LG TV has the apps as well, but I didn't want to have to set up reverse audio to our receiver and I took the easy way out. The sound and picture are great, apps are easy, and best of all, this player integrates with our Logitech smart remote. We can tell Alexa to turn on Netflix, and BOOM - our receiver, TV, and the player all turn on. This has everything we were looking for, and as a bonus it's a third the size of our old player. No downsides.

I bought this 4 K blue ray player since my samsung was old enough it wouldn't update the software anymore. No MORE NETFLIX !! so got this on the advice of assistant at BB for ease of use, aps on board, and pricing. couldn't be happier, easy set up, clear and beautiful picture, plays my music wonderful (yes I still play CD music) and of course streams everything very nicely. Not the most recent model on the shelf,but has 3 D capability which I will never use, but price wise and what I needed this is perfect so far. Hope it also lasts, only have had it hooked up about a month.
