Picture quality is great. I have had problems with Sony always freezing up but all in all for the price you can’t beat it. If you are looking for top of the line this is not it. But for my set up in my bed room it’s perfect. If you just need simple this is the 4k player for you.

I’ve had it 3 years and it’s still working flawlessly! It still gets regular updates, and I’ve never had any issues with playback sound or quality. And I run a full Dolby vision and atmos setup. It also has a great remote. I highly recommend!

I am partial to Sony products and that is why I am reviewing this Sony 4K blu-ray player. This product has wifi built built in and is excellent for streaming and and high res playback. and the price is very reasonable.

The Blu-ray unit keep getting smaller, but deliver better video and sound. This unit drops analog connections if you're looking for those. Small, and easy to setup. Take a look at some of the setting to make sure you get the proper sound and video output you want. The Sony interface is pretty standard for their products and easy to use. I use a LAN connection and firmware updates are seen immediately and download with no problems. So far, the sound and video has been superior to regular blu-ray. Atmos really takes advantage of all the speakers you have available. It also has mirroring and the ability to have apps on it if you don't have them elsewhere. Overall a great unit and UHD blu-ray players keep getting cheaper.

I love Sony's dvd, blu-ray and now blu-ray 4K players. Sony is really good at know what there consumers want when it comes to TVs and media. I love how quickly the system starts up as it comes setup in standby mode (meaning still on but in a low power consumption mode) and you can turn this off if you prefer. I don't use the smart features but they are there and ready to go (I use my TVs smart features). I like how the background is black as it doesn't blind you before your movie which you don't always think about. my previous Blu-ray players home screen was so bright the neighbors could see the light beams coming out our windows. 4K movies load quick and seamlessly and as it states the high quality audio is truly awesome. If your looking for a good 4k or even just Blu-ray player this is the way to go. Well built and does not seem cheap like many others

I planned on upgrading to a 4K UHD player in several months after more product research and product improvements. I recently upgraded to a 4K TV and figured my existing Sony Blu Ray would work well. In tracking product reviews and recommendations I started leaning to Sony over Samsung and based on comments picked the x700 as a primary choice. With the Holiday $100 discount I figured there would not be a better choice anytime soon. Set up, upgrade, and operation were all very simple and straight forward. I did not set up the wi-fi. I amusing the CoAx audio output to connect audio to my older home theater 7.2 system.\ Every thing I have tested works great with none of the issues others have mentioned noticeable.

First foray into the Blue-Ray world. Yet to determine capabilities with the 4K, but like that this had streaming integration. The unit is small, and remotes compatible with all Sony devices. If you are brand loyal, this is a worthy addition to your media devices.

Work like a charm. very good image and sound. 4K + dolby makes for an amazing home cinema. OS is ugly, but I do not use it for it's apps or smart capabilities, just blu-ray DVD, and for this it excels in every aspect.

Amazing player and plays 4K disc nicely and did not notice freezing issues reported by others , Dollby vision is amazing but by looking at the disc we have to manually enable it , I hope sony will address this with a firmware, in terms of build looks ok, not very great. Upscaling is nice.

One of the better ultra HD 4K players- and at a descent price. Get high end works for mid grade price. I use this player for all of my disc media. I can't stand the remote- but that's me looking for something to complain about.

Ordered two of these to avoid buying new Smart TV's. They were easy to install and easy to set up. The picture quality was an upgrade from what we had, and we love how easy it is to access Netflix, Amazon Prime, and YouTube. Very happy with our purchase.

Was researching 4K BluRay playera and this Sony was consistently on various top ten lists. Now, I see why! Excellent picture, great sound, easy to use with an intuitive menu, small and light and at a great price. You can't go wrong!

While I have always been behind on technological upgrades, I did recently get a smart TV, but I still have an analog surround system that used 6 inputs from my audio out on the DVD player. This Blu-ray player eliminated the necessity of all those cables and allowed me to plug the audio in from my new Sony player using only one coaxial output cable! (I do not have HDMI capabilities on my amplifier, so this was essential for me.) This unit is easy to set up, and provides updates from my wi-fi provider. There are many uses I will not take advantage of, but the sound and picture is great! It will play CDs, DVDs and any new Blu-ray discs I can now buy. Happy!

Love this player. Arrived as promised, Easy to install and setup ... practically does it itself. This is my 2nd player. We also have the same one in the living room. Beautiful picture, sleek and a great price.

I love this DVD player. It take all types of disks including computer disks. It is high quality and is Blue Ray and standard DVD. Wasn't too expensive. I replaced on I had that I hated because it was too hard to operate. This is simple. Buy it!

My old Blu-ray player was beginning to fail after a few years of service - refusing to play blu-ray movies with intensely detailed CG animation that it had reliably played before. The solution turned out to be replacing it with a new Sony-UBP-X700. Don't let the simple, external appearance of this blu-ray player fool you. This delicate looking little machine has the technological chops to play the latest high definition blu-ray discs made these days, with better visual fidelity than I had experienced before. The sound on my wireless headphones is great too. And of course it plays regular DVDs perfectly. This streaming, 4K Ultra HD player can play with various apps, but I haven't tried anything but discs on it. In summary, the Sony-UBP-X700 Blu-ray player is a reliable and inexpensive replacement that has solved my previous viewing problems.

Sony hits another home run. Great 4K picture. Ease of navigation with the remote. I especially like the small size of the unit. Takes up very little room on my audio stand. Plays my audio DVD’s with great sound quality.

Very Good UHD Blu-ray player, excellent picture as most other players but has both HDR10 and Dolby Vision compatibility. Upscaling is good, too, makes regular Blu-ray discs look great.

This is my 3rd 4K player. First two were a Philips(died about 8 months ago) and a Samsung. The Samsung is a bit noisy with 4K discs which can be a little distracting. This one is very quiet. I've been waiting a while for the Dolby Vision players to drop in price and got this on sale for $150. Very happy with it. Only downside is that it is one of the 1st gen DV supported players which means you have to manually turn it on, and then off, accordingly. Some newer players have implemented automatic solutions but they can cost anywhere from $50 to hundreds more.

Replaced a 1 year old LG up875 4K player with this. Paired with the new Sony Z9F 4K tv I bought this spring. Sound is really great. I have Klipsch RP set up for speakers. Huge improvement over the LG. Was able to pair my Sony TV remote easily to control the 4K player. Picture is way way way better than the LG player. Even better after changing TV HDMI format to Enhanced. Make sure to do that if able. Upscale of Blu-ray is very close to 4K. Only complaint is the cheap plastic cover that opens with the DVD tray. Seems like it could easily break but hopefully will be fine. So far highly recommend this player. Especially if you have a Sony 4K TV. Have not tried streaming as my TV Streams already or PS4.
