Great little blue ray player for little money. Small and easy to set up and operate. Not fancy but fits under my 32 inch flat screen and works. Great for watching movies and concert videos. Good job Sony ! Al H.

I had difficulty finding Blu-ray DVD players in stores, so I got this one online at bestbuy.com. Nice compact size, easy to set up, and it works! We already have streaming apps on other devices, so I didn’t set up for that. So far, so good.

I'm giving this 5 stars because it does what I need it to do. I'm shocked by how small and light this unit is, think the size of hardcover book. The remote is small with small buttons that can be challenging to press and to read the print on the remote. The power cable uses a very large plug and it will prevent you from being able to use the outlets to the left and right of it if you are plugging it into a surge protector. I don't know why Sony chose to do this. Overall the player is fast and responsive with a great picture and sound quality.

Love the big value for the money and the small footprint of space near the TV. DVD player was very easy to install and learn to use especially for older adults of which one of us is a little tech savvy!

Very compact. Responds quickly to the remote control. Excellent picture quality. The loading tray stays open until I swap DVDs and close it (unlike the Toshiba I recently replaced).

I have an older Sony bluray player and this one is very similar and is also excellent quality. The older one still works but I needed one for the bedroom. Great value for under $60.

This is a very nice little unit that didn't cost much (under $100) and doesn't take up a lot of room. It replaced an ancient DVD/VHS player that was like 4 times larger, much heavier, and had a rat's nest of cables coming out of it. This is a good purchase, and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants an economical means of watching their old DVDs.

When my LG ethernet compatible streaming blu-ray player quit working, I started looking for a new one, cautiously optimistic that I could find one that was better than my old one, but without having to pay a lot of money for it. Luckily, Best Buy still has a few models of players that have the ability to go online via ethernet. This Sony one is ethernet only, like my LG was. The streaming service on it works better though with faster, smoother video playing while using the same network as I had before. It also seems to load apps faster as well. I have an Amazon Fire HD 4K stick plugged into my TV, but I do sometimes use this Sony player to play Youtube videos as it seems to do as well, sometimes better, at playing them. When it comes to playing DVDs and Blu-Ray DVDs, it works very well now. When I first hooked it up to my HDMI hub (also bought from Best Buy) which is plugged into my Insignia non-smart TV (they still make them thank goodness), it acted strangely. It would show a brief, black screen between DVD chapters. Sometimes, it would stop showing the image on the screen even though the DVD was still playing. I considered sending it back, but then decided to try changing my HDMI setup a bit first. I moved the HDMI hub from the port I'd been using it in, to a different port on the back of the TV. I also tried a different HDMI cable. Finally, I tried turning off the auto on settings in my TV and in the Blu-Ray player. None of those things I tried worked by itself, but when I tried all of them at once, it solved the problem. Having to fiddle with the setup is the main reason why I can't give this full stars. Otherwise, it is a very good player. It shows very good image quality on my 1080p TV when the player is set to 1080p mode. By default, it is set to 720p mode I found out. The player's motors are rather quiet, so I don't have to crank the volume on my Insignia sound bar to drown the motor noise out. The remote's basic functions are easy to use, though now and then, when the room is dark (which is how I prefer to watch movies) I occasionally miss the 'ok' button and hit a directional button by accident when messing with menus. I think that the buttons could be a bit bigger. The more complex settings, like the playback settings that you can access while playing the disc, are a bit tricky to use and the manual doesn't tell you much about them. You have to just try stuff. There are a few settings that I found won't work with my TV. I had to turn off the player, unplug the HDMI and power cables, then plug them back in and turn the power back on to get the playback settings to reset so that I could see images on the TV again. These settings could be explained better. The unit itself looks fine. Not too garish or weird looking. It's small enough to fit on the TV cart in front of the TV. The 'feet' on the bottom of it didn't seem tall enough to give the player much room to draw in cooler air nor vent out internal heat through the little vents in the bottom though, so I stuck furniture feet pads to the corners of the bottom to raise it up a bit more. I wish it had heat vents in the top of the unit, that would make more sense since heat rises. It doesn't have a lot of ports for plugging stuff into it, just the USB port in the front and the HDMI-out port in the back. But, it's all one should expect for the price. I've tried LG, Samsung, Panasonic and Toshiba blu-ray players in the past. I think this Sony one shows the best picture of all of them, as it should since Sony pioneered blu-ray tech to begin with. It's a player worth getting.

Excellent disc player for a very reasonable price I would buy another one of these in a heartbeat. Install was quick, product works great. I have an earlier version of this. Sony is a good product. Would recommend this to anyone.

I've had this item for several months and haven't experienced any problems. It was easy to connect and the remote works fine, although the buttons are small. I had to try several times to get Pandora to 'stick' to the main menu page, but it finally worked so it's not a problem. Overall, a good value.

This CD player is easy to use and lets me see all my home video's from vacation etc.. from my camcorder. Which I made into CD's. It hooks up to a smart TV very easily and is small and compact. Its a very good value buy.

I'm very happy with this item. Sony makes the best electronic equipment when it comes to flatscreens and all of the connected devices. The Sony Blu-ray Player was easy to setup and use with remote control.

I have an expensive SONY blu-ray and bought this to use in another area for the kids to view dvds. Didn't want to spend a lot. Was I ever surprised at how terrific this is. My smart TV set it up for me automatically after plugging it in. The dvd's picture quality played off the TV beautifully. PLUS with one touch of the NETFLIX button I now have access to something I couldn't figure out how to find using the TV remote lol. Machine is small, compact (size of cable box). Fits unobtrusively under the TV. Win Win Win. and so inexpensive. Let's face it -- SONY makes great products at every price point. Highly recommend!
