Haven't used much so far, but it is very good. At present, I am NOT using it hooked-up for internet access.

When I started looking for a new one, I found that the maker of the old one no longer made players. I picked Sony because I knew it was a good brand. The movies I've watched on it look great! I even bought my first Blu ray movie. More to come.

I believe this one does not have wifi capabilities but that's okay - there are so many other additions like game consoles, tv sticks, etc. that sometimes it's just not necessary to have this feature. How about just watch a blue ray? Yep, nails that.

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I very much like the Sony Blu Ray BDP S1700 DVD Player that I previously owned and just gave out after lasting 5 years, so I know all about operating it and was very glad to find the exact model in the store to replace it. I did give it only 4 out of 5 stars because like all such players on the market today it no longer includes video/audio line inputs/outputs that used to be called RCA connections. Now that there streaming everybody just uses HDMI to connect things but I like to have line inputs/outputs anyway.

Great Player at low cost

Very simple to setup, in fact all I had to do was plug it in and it worked first time. Have used it to view DVD's and found it extremely useful for viewing pictures and movies taken during vacations. Was very easy to hook up an external hard drive to the front USB port and see the pictures on the large screen!

I didn't want a wifi one since I have other devices for that, so this blu ray player was perfect. Have watched a bunch of movies so far and everything is working great.

Although i haven't been using it for the apps, or any internet connections. The Bluray and dvd player operate perfectly, but on negative side didn't like lack options like a picture zooming feature!
